GOP: True independence includes

There’s nothing like the Fourth of July, a day to bask in America’s glory and to dream of better days ahead. That’s part of the genius of the Declaration of Independence. It isn´t just about what America was. It’s a vision of what she could be, of what we should always strive for. A land where the people rule, and where the common man or woman can advance themselves and the common good. [Snip] America’s greatness has always been rooted in our creative minds and entrepreneurial spirit, our ability to make things ... to make the most of our resources, to control our economic destiny. That’s why you see Republicans working so hard

As always with the left, their main criteria for all projects and programs is that they must have zero chance of achieving the stated goal.

It would seem that if ANYONE were to just live long enough and pay attention that they would become a libertarian, small government conservative.

The Left is a walking, talking advertisement
for it´s own foolishness and fecklessness.

Rep. Steve Daines gives the Republican Party´s Weekly Remarks: Hello. I’m Steve Daines and I proudly represent the state of Montana in Congress. As a fifth-generation Montanan, a sportsman, a husband and father of four, it’s an honor to serve the people of Montana in the House of Representatives. I grew up in Bozeman, Montana, where my parents worked from the ground up to start a home construction business. And like my great-great-grandma, a Norwegian widow who homesteaded in central Montana, my parents worked tirelessly to achieve the American Dream. Growing up, I learned the importance of hard work,

Many of you were no doubt busy at work these past 24 hours or seeking work or giving up seeking work. So we´ve thoughtfully assembled a quick update of the more important news during this period: Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his reply to President Obama´s demand to rein in Russian insurgents scorching eastern Ukraine. Using Putin's Buk missiles, the rebels downed two more Ukrainian fighter jets; one pilot was killed, the other ejected over insurgents and his fate can only be guessed. Crash investigators arrived in the same area to poke through what's left of the Malaysian passenger jet wreckage downed by a previous Russian Buk.

THE PRESIDENT: Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the White House. Please be seated. For our forces in Afghanistan, the battle of Wanat was one of the most fierce of this entire war. Forty-eight Americans, along with their Afghan partners, were manning their small base, deep in a valley when they were attacked by some 200 insurgents. And those insurgents seemed determined to overrun an even smaller post just outside the base -- an elevated patch of boulders and sandbags defended by just nine American soldiers.

President Obama’s weekly remarks: Hi, everybody. Over the past 52 months, our businesses have created nearly 10 million new jobs. The unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest point since 2008. Across lots of areas — energy, manufacturing, technology — our businesses and workers are leading again. In fact, for the first time in over a decade, business leaders worldwide have declared that China is no longer the world’s best place to invest — America is. None of this is an accident. It’s thanks to your resilience, resolve, and hard work that America has recovered faster and come farther than almost any other advanced country on Earth.

After another grueling week of photo-ops, speeches and political fundraisers, President Obama is taking a getaway weekend today, up to Camp David. There, he won´t have to learn from the media the news that his arch-rival in the global presidential power sweepstakes, Russia´s Vladimir Putin, has tied a record high approval among his countrymen in a new Gallup Poll out this morning. As Obama wallows in the low 40´s in overall job approval among Americans, with even lower ratings in specific areas, Putin has just scored nearly twice that -- 83% approval.

President Obama's weekly remarks
Hi, everybody. This week, I spent some time in Colorado and Texas, talking with people about what’s going on in their lives. One was Elizabeth Cooper, a college junior this fall. She wrote to tell me something I hear often: how hard it is for middle-class families like hers to afford college. And she shared something I know many of you feel when you wonder what’s going on in Washington. She said she feels “not significant enough to be addressed, not poor enough for people to worry [about], and not rich enough to be cared about.” I ran for President to fight for Americans just like Elizabeth — people who work hard, do everything right,

When Barack Obama was first running for the White House, way back in 2007 when a billion dollars seemed like a lot of money, he presented himself as the Great Uniter. Someone whose freshness, mixed race and background would bridge America´s inherent diversities and even end the "bitter, partisan divide" afflicting Washington. [Snip] At one time or another Obama has pitted Americans against each other by class, education, income, union membership, birth control use, tax status, climate beliefs, gender and wealth. This morning comes a Gallup Poll revealing that Obama splits Americans by religion.

A statement put out today by President Barack Obama on the occasion of a religious holiday is raising some eyebrows. The holiday is a Muslim one called "Eid-al-Fitr" and the statement says: his last month has been a time of fasting, reflection, spiritual renewal, and service to the less fortunate. While Eid marks the completion of Ramadan, it also celebrates the common values that unite us in our humanity and reinforces the obligations that people of all faiths have to each other, especially those impacted by poverty, conflict, and disease. In the United States, Eid also reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans to

You can understand President Obama´s current political problems -- and how those problems could make things very tough for his party in this fall´s midterm election -- in a single word. And that word is "competence". Obama was elected in 2008 on a stated promise that he would restore competence to government. He pitched himself as the antidote to "Heck of a job, Brownie" and the Bush years, the person who would always put the most qualified candidate in every job in his Administration. That the basic functioning of government would never be in question. Almost six years on from

Murray´s article is a devastating deconstruction of claims that marijuana is relatively safe, or at least safer than alcohol.
