500 mourners respond to call
as war hero is laid to rest

Daily Express [UK], by Chris Riches

RAF Flight Sergeant Sidney Marshall died last month aged 90 at his home in Lytham St Annes, near Blackpool. But he was a widower who had no children and seven of his eight siblings were too frail to attend. The only one who could was brother Bill, 85. Undertaker Eddy Jacobs was so touched by the story that he appealed for strangers to give Sidney a fitting farewell on social networking sites like Twitter. Hundreds responded, with well-wishers yesterday including veterans, schoolchildren and even Hell’s Angels sporting poppies and Union Flags. [Snip] “We were flabbergasted. There’s 500 people here. It

Comments:
When these reports are posted, there´s always a mention of schoolchildren attending. The numbers seem to get larger each time an elderly hero dies. Some people are trying to make a point, wouldn´t you say? Can we start something like this in our own towns and cities? It´s a quiet, important and very special way of making our point too.

2 personal thoughts after reading this story: 1)my dad was a Lancaster pilot for the RCAF. 33 night missions bombing Germany. All members of his crew survived war.
2) Royal Lytham/St. Anne´s is where my WWI grandfather pilot was recuperating after war injuries when he met his wife who was vacationing with her mother. Quick romance, marriage, moved to Canada. Never saw England again.

Slain Soldier Lt. Hadar Goldin
Was Ya´alon´s Close Relative

Second Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, hy"d, who was killed by Hamas terrorists on Friday, was a close relative of Defense Minister Moshe Ya´alon, it was cleared for publication Sunday morning. Hebrew media has yet to officially indicate how the two were related, but the Hebrew phrase--karov mishpaha--indicates an immediate or otherwise very close family relationship between the two. The gag order was implemented on the family´s request, so as to not escalate the situation with Hamas in the event Goldin was alive and being held captive. Ya´alon related to his relative´s death for the first time publicly on Sunday afternoon.

Israel´s military has begun redeploying along its border with Gaza after the government signaled it would reassess its operations. A number of tanks and other vehicles were seen leaving Gaza on Sunday. In a televised address late on Saturday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested troops would reassess the operation after completing the demolition of Hamas military tunnels under the border. Security officials said the tunnel mission was winding down. At the same time, Mr Netanyahu warned Hamas would pay an "intolerable price" if it continued to fire rockets at Israel and that all options remain on the table.

Just as Yasir Arafat orchestrated the Intifada of 2000 while ostensibly talking Peace in Camp David, Hamas has been planning a massive Tunnel War ever since Operation Cast Lead in 2008. There have been reports that this was supposed to happen on the Jewish New Year but was pre-empted by Israel´s Defensive Action--"Operation Protective Edge". [Snip] Its stockpiling of rockets in schools, mosques, hospitals, and UN installations was all part of a very well thought out strategy to curry world sympathy to tie Israel´s hands when defensive action by Israel would be taken. Britain has just two ‘ebola-proof’ hospital beds, The Mail on Sunday has learnt. Official guidance states that patients with the highly infectious disease--which has no vaccine, no cure and kills up to 90 percent of victims--should be treated in specially built units that are biologically secure. Yet there is only one operational High Secure Infectious Diseases Unit (HSIDU) in the UK, at the Royal Free Hospital in London. It has two beds. A second, at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, is ‘being redeveloped’ according to NHS England. Should Britain have more than two ebola patients at any one time,

House Republicans have passed legislation to shut down a program by President Barack Obama granting deportation relief to immigrants brought here illegally as kids, with many calling the bill a dead-end as the Senate leaves for summer break. [Snip] It also would block Obama from awarding work permits to other immigrants here illegally. The bill was supported by conservatives who demanded it as their price for backing a separate measure dealing with the crisis of unaccompanied minors flooding the border. The Senate has already adjourned for Congress´ summer recess so neither bill stands a chance of becoming law.

A Sierra Leone cyclist who ´vanished´ from the Commonwealth Games in an apparent bid to avoid going back to his Ebola-stricken country has been found - but several of his teammates do not want to return home. The plea from the athletes was made as Sierra Leone sportstars failed to turn up for four separate events, sparking fears that even more of the country´s athletes could be going missing. It comes as the World Health Organisation issued a warning about the epidemic of Ebola in West Africa - which they now say has killed more than 700 people in four countries.

I believe we moved that forward significantly,” he told CNBC. Nomura, Morgan Stanley and HSBC all think the dollar is poised for a long secular rally. Palestinian officials said 55 people had died in Israeli strikes on Saturday, most in Rafah, where the soldier, Hadar Goldin, went missing. A series of rocket attacks into Israel was reported on Saturday morning. Later Israel sent messages to Palestinians in northern Gaza saying that they could return home. "We have told Beit Lahia residents that they may return to their homes. We advised them to avoid explosives placed by Hamas across the area", the Israel Defence Forces tweeted.

That was the most astonishing moment of today’s galling Obama press conference. President Obama had earlier lectured journalists how to do their jobs, ripped Republicans for doing their jobs, and chided everyone within earshot for not wishing him a happy birthday yet. After that descent into pre-teen self-absorption, the president was asked about whether CIA chief John Brennan had lied to Congress under oath when he said that the agency had never spied on senators and staff who were investigating the CIA’s enhanced interrogations of a very few al Qaeda terrorists. Obama glided past the actual question, other than voicing

Even the American left is finally realizing that this is the strangest administration in living memory. Obama simply has no real precedents, which is why he seems so utterly foreign. American presidents tend to be pragmatists, but Obama is locked into a simpleminded ideology of Good vs. Evil. Obama is Good, and anybody who disagrees with him is Evil. Much of this oddity stems from the president’s personality, which many people have described as a mix of major narcissism, borderline personality disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. Personality disordered people can be very functional in their jobs.

Bill O’Reilly obviously doesn’t care for how President Obama and the Democrats are running things, but tonight he also had some tough words for the GOP. He asked guest Kate Obenshain why the Republicans continue to remain in the muck with the left and try to “destroy one another” instead of getting things done. O’Reilly asked, “Shouldn’t they rise above it?” Obenshain argued that it’s Democrats doing all the nasty politicking and name-calling, as well as the ginning up of impeachment. O’Reilly, however, noted some conservatives are bringing it up and said there’s “plenty of hate on both sides.” Obenshain objected, “No,
