Obama: US Always Has Been
a Nation of Immigrants

Associated Press, by Darlene Superville

Washington - Celebrating the ethnic diversity of America, President Barack Obama said more than two dozen foreign-born service members who became U.S. citizens at the White House on the Fourth of July are vivid reminders that welcoming immigrants "is central to our way of life." He pleaded anew for new immigration policies, saying the vast range of backgrounds and experiences that has made America a melting pot for more than 200 years also makes the country stronger. He argued that the system must be retooled for the U.S. to remain the greatest nation on earth. "The basic idea of welcoming

#1 . Legal immigrants, not illegals. #2. And I am so tired of hearing that this country is nation of immigrants. NO, it isn´t. Most of the people in this country were born here. And so were there their parents. And their parents. And all their ancestors came here legally.

Exactly #1 and the most irritating thing for me is the spirit with which that phrase is always spoken. Tired, tired and tired of hearing politicians insinuate that any immigrant, legal or illegal, is BETTER with BETTER intentions toward this great country. Not !!!!!

"A nation of immigrants." So, what. As for the melting pot, that is a thing of the past. In modern America, illegals gather in enclaves, refuse to assimilate, collect welfare and hate America.

Wrong:

We were a nation of Colonists. A very different thing.

We became a nation of immigrants. And a lot of that had to do with keeping the black man down.

My ancestors came to this country between 1615 and 1914. The early ancestors fought in the Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War, both for the North and the South. The latter came in through Ellis Island. They fought, along with the others in WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, not sure about Desert Storm and later. They all immigrated legally, they all got jobs, they all learned the language, The French, the Dutch, the Swedes, and the Norwegians. And they all paid taxes.
If the new immigrants want to follow those rules, welcome to them. I have some good friends who came in legally, from England, South Africa, Vietnam. They all speak English, they all have jobs, they all pay taxes. Welcome to them.

Obama needs to get a few things straight in his head; immigrants are those who are allowed to live here permanently and work in the U.S. What we now have coming into our country are ´illegal aliens´, people entering the U.S. without authorization. Yes, it sounds harsh, but these thousands of children and young people are ´illegal aliens´.

As an aside, we just received an email from the over-all governing body of our church which repeatedly referred to these children as ´migrants´. Sure wish they would stop playing with words.

legal immigrants, you fool. My grandparents were legal immigrants. And they were detained until it was determined that they were disease free, that they had sponsors and a place to live - and that they would NOT be a burden on the gov´t. These people (and thousands and thousands of others) assimilated. They obtained their citizenship proudly and as soon as possible. Their children were raised as Americans rather than hyphenated anything.

My husband´s parents came through Ellis Island from Hungary and you just didn´t get off the boat and walk into New York. There were tough health examinations and many were turned away to return to the countries they came from. It was pretty cut and dried. His parents found jobs, learned our language and went to classes to become citizens. My father-in-law worked one job until he retired after 50 years from Firestone Tire and Rubber. That´s an immigrant.

The term "A Nation of Immigrants" is a bogus term that was invented by the liberal Democrats before the 1986 amnesty, now they have brought it back again. In actuality most people living in the USA today are not immigrants but are "Americans", a word that many liberal Democrat politicians usually dismiss unless it´s usage is to describe all the peoples living in North America, Central America, and South America.

Name a country that lets others just walk over a boarder and free load off the government. Try walking into Mexico. How about our US Marine held in prison for three months now and the O in the White House has done nothing to get this hero released.

In order to apply for a library card one must show identification, yet these people come here with only verbal identification, no health records, no money, and no destination.

The excuse, they´re kids. Why is Obama so secretive? How come a congressman who represents Oklahoma was denied entrance into a camp there?

There are bright spots and even some unexpected new targets on the map for both parties, but the overall national environment seems to have ticked a bit toward Republicans. The GOP needs to win a net of six seats to retake control of the Senate, and Republicans seem better-positioned to do so now than they did through much of

President Obama famously derided the Supreme Court over the Citizens United decision in a State of the Union address. Obama’s bashing of that First Amendment decision is also central in the scandal involving Internal Revenue Service targeting of Tea Party applicants for tax-exempt status. Lois Lerner followed Obama’s lead to suppress speech. Thursday, in an address at Northwestern University, however, Obama unwittingly undermined a whole regime of regulation of election-related speech. As reported at The Daily Caller: President Barack Obama gave GOP campaigns and right-wing super PAC’s across the nation fodder to
