Resentment Behind the Waning
Patriotism of Liberal Americans

Patriot Post, by Jonah Goldberg

Original Article

You wouldn’t think, five years into the Obama presidency, that so many liberal Americans wouldn’t like America. A new Pew survey found that 44 percent of Americans don’t often feel pride in being an American, and only 28 percent said that America is the greatest country in the world. Respondents who “often feel proud to be American” were overwhelmingly conservative (from 72 percent to 81 percent depending on the kind of conservative). A majority (60 percent) of “solid liberals” said they don’t often feel proud to be an American. The polling data only proves what has been obvious for a

If they don´t like it here, they can move to Canada or Europe where the health care will soon be equivalent to ours (and not because ours is getting better). Or try Mexico, assuming you can get over the border; or once you get there obtain a work permit. Don´t let the door hit you on the way out!

Back in the sixties in my northeast lib bubble, Anti-Americanism was already all the rage. My whole moonbat family grew up with a raging case of the disease, as well as anti-militarism and Massachusetts Kennedy-style big government worship. Aping British humor and making fun of the Ugly American were what they all lived for.

It took the brilliant mind of a (legal) immigrant, refugee from Communism, born Alice Rosenbaum, to wake me up to what makes America free and exceptional, and what is today being thrown away.

Every liberal I know is miserable. It doesn´t matter how much or how little they have. They´re nasty, abrasive, always ready to argue. The worst ones are the ones who think they´re funny. Their "humor" is always offensive and juvenile. A good example is that lib talk show host, her name escapes me, but I think it´s Stephanie. My family is a lib breeding ground. They are very depressing people.

The security sources in Sinai and Cairo, said residents of Sheikh Zuwaid found the bodies two days after the men were abducted by gunmen while traveling in a car in the town, a few kilometers from the Gaza Strip. Though the men were civilians, they may have been targeted for their perceived allegiance to the police and army, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity. Major General Harold Greene, the first U.S. general to die in combat since Vietnam, was buried in Arlington National Cemetery on Aug. 14. Ten years ago, I visited a one-room schoolhouse in a remote village in Honduras—a community with no electricity, where most families eked out a living as small-scale coffee farmers. I asked a group of students who, if anyone, planned to migrate to the United States. I expected a few hands to go up. Instead, every single child in the room raised his or her hand. These children were not fleeing gang violence. They lived in a placid—though desperately poor—little hamlet where gangs were but a distant symbol of urban delinquency and danger. A watchdog group on Monday sued the U.S. government, accusing the Obama White House of interfering in and thwarting the release of public documents under the Freedom of Information Act. The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by the group Cause of Action (CoA) names 12 federal agencies that delayed the release of documents so officials could consult with White House under a new process established in spring 2009. The process, which gave White House officials review authority over documents that federal agencies wanted to release that mentioned the White House or presidential aides,

For my entire adult life I’ve heard this same question time and time again: “Why isn’t there a Palestinian Martin Luther King?” Or in the alternative: “Why isn’t there a Palestinian Gandhi?” Some have posed this with the sincere intention of being helpful. Others have raised it more as a way to further their own narrative that all Palestinians are violent. Regardless of the questioner’s motivation, it’s worth asking: could a Palestinian Dr. King actually lead Palestinians to the “promised land”? Or is

Obama met with his economic team Tuesday before leaving the White House at 4:22 pm to return to his vacation home. The National Security Council reacted, however, in a statement provided by spokesperson Caitlin Hayden. “We have seen a video that purports to be the murder of U.S. citizen James Foley by ISIL,” Hayden said.

From nearly 1,000 miles away, several Redskins players used the Monday Night Football stage to draw attention to the situation that has been unfolding in Ferguson, Missouri by running onto FedExField with their hands up in the air. Ferguson is where unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot and killed by a white police officer on Aug. 9. Witnesses have said he was not aggressive toward the officer and had his hands raised above his head before he was shot. As a result, the words “hands up, don’t shoot” have become a rallying cry of protesters, both in Ferguson and online.
