Happy Sweet 16, Malia Obama! A look
back at the First Daughter´s year as
she celebrates her milestone birthday

Daily Mail [UK], by Margot Peppers

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 7/4/2014 1:16:36 PM

As the rest of America rings in Independence Day, the Obama family have yet another reason to celebrate: Malia Obama´s sweet 16th birthday. The First Daughter, who has recently been in California doing a TV production internship, was just ten years old when her father was first elected President of the United States. And over the past six years, the country has witnessed her grow up into a tall, stylish and mature teen, giving her parents plenty of reasons to be proud. The Obamas will be ringing in the holiday tonight with a Pitbull concert on the South Lawn of the White

Comments:
Surprisingly, there are actually a few photos where she managed to smile. I find it creepy that Obama holds hands with his older daughter. I never remember doing that with my Dad. He would put his arm around my shoulders but we sure didn´t walk about holding hands!

Is it my imagination or are there just as many sullen faced pictures as smiling ones of those kids?

I would not be so quick to appreciate this article about Malia´s 16th birthday because I know she will probably turn out just like her parents.

For me, a cute kitten far out strips the awwwww factor of the First Family´s children.

I wish her a happy birthday too. I agree with #7 it has to be difficult to grow up with the scrutiny you receive as a Presidents child. Whatever you think of her parents political views they do seem to love their daughters. I just hope they don´t grow up to be jerks like mom and dad.

It´s not creepy for a father to hold his daughters hand. I see it a lot. It´s a sign of affection nothing more. I´d rather see a father hold his daughters hand than have her walk behind him.

By far the number of photos where she is happy, smiling´ or laughing are all the candid photos where she is enjoying herself. The unsmiling ones, and I´ve noticed this throughout the years are the ceremonial ones, walking off AF1, etc where you know there are a hoard of photographers snapping away. These situations would be hard for any kid or teenager because they are more or less being asked to ´perform´ and are not really doing anything. All the candid shots I see of both girls they look very normal for teenagers and seem to have a great relationship with their parents. Anyone can be caught in a picture taken where they are not smiling.

I couldn´t care less about Malia or Sasha. They will be just like Chelsea Clinton - given undeserved red-carpet treatment wherever they go. Given high-paying "jobs" just because of their last name, and forever treated as celebrities. They should go live with those poor kids in the DHS shelters for a few days and see what real challenges are, and to see what their father has wrought.

And did this article say Pit Bull was performing on the WH lawn? That guy is very crude and rude, hardly a role model.

If her salary was obscene, a lib would have leaked the amount as cover for the bad publicity clintons received over chelsea´s fake job at nbc. Certainly Jenna is more charming and has a lot more on-air talent than Chelsea ever will. I think Jenna is adorable. But the point is she nor Chelsea would have never gotten their foot in the door for an interview much less a job on a national network show with zero experience if their name was not Bush or Clinton. Doesn´t matter what their pay is, they wouldn´t have been considered until they had a good resume of on-air tv work.

A coalition of 20 transparency and ethics watchdog groups are fed up with CIA Director John Brennan´s leadership and are calling on President Obama to ask him to step down. The group, which includes the Project on Government Oversight, the Sunlight Foundation and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, among many others, on Tuesday accused the CIA of abusing its power and obstructing the Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into agency’s use of torture in the years following the Sept. 11 attacks. Regulars at the Vineyard Golf Club in Martha’s Vineyard were gob-smacked when President Obama unexpectedly strolled onto a nearby green and they were immediately frisked. “There was no warning he was coming,” sniffed a guest. “There was security on the way in, but no word as to why they were there.” The member added, “While eating, overlooking the golf course, guests had to stand up and be wanded.” One asked if he could finish his hot soup first, and an Obama security man cracked, ominously, “So, you’re not cooperating?” But Obama did, “go around and shake everyone’s hand waiting on the course.”

WASHINGTON — More than 2,000 immigrants facing deportation in 2013 were released strictly for budget reasons by immigration agency officials who kept the homeland security secretary in the dark about the plan, according to a federal watchdog´s report. While Congress is on recess and President Obama vacations in Martha´s Vineyard, a coalition of free press groups is escalating an already-aggressive campaign against the Obama administration for allegedly freezing out the press and cracking down on reporters.
