Still the exceptional nation
Washington Times (D.C), by Ed Feulner

Original Article

Americans hardly need an excuse to display the flag, but few occasions bring the red, white and blue out in fuller force than our national birthday. Jeane Kirkpatrick once said, “Americans need to face the truth about themselves, no matter how pleasant it is.” The truth is that the United States is an exceptional nation: It’s the world’s oldest and most stable capitalist democracy, older even than Great Britain, which did not become a mass democracy until the late 19th century. It’s the first nation founded in an act of rebellion against a colonial power. It’s the first nation founded

Good article, but if you listened to the Bill Ayers interview on FOX you learn that many Americans hate this country. I would say half the Democrats agree with Ayers.

"we are Americans, we love our country — and we are patriots."

Which is why we will soon conduct a second revolution and emerge even better than before. We will correct the wrongs of this criminal administration and send them packing to a liberal utopia or the hanging tree of their choice and teach those who supported them that every person who enjoys the fruits of living in America must take part in the efforts to grow them. The obama social experiment is dying and we will see to its proper burial.

FTA: "It’s the first nation to recognize that the powers of the state must be limited to those granted by the people and to recognize explicitly that the state was founded to secure their rights. It’s the first nation to be based on a separation of powers — to prevent any branch of government from gaining too much power — and the clear subordination of the military to civilian rule."

I´m afraid I must disagree with Mr. Feulner. We´ve pretty much given this up without a fight. We are no longer governed by our elected leaders, we are governed by massive bureaucracies with political agendas contrary to this nation´s founding values and principles. The IRS, EPA, HHS, to name but a few. Our sovereignty is on life support. Our so called Justice Department is totally corrupt and we seem to be helpless to do anything about it.

And separation of powers? Gone with a pen and a phone.

It’s the first nation to recognize that the powers of the state must be limited to those granted by the people [emphasis mine]

So what happened? Liberalism and stealth communism in the halls of power happened. Over time, concern for the power of the people to be represented by people who actually do represent them has eroded, not by natural causes but by the deliberate chipping away at our foundations by people who don´t like our founding principles.

America’s creed “is an immense human idea...It cannot generate fanaticism.

But we do have fanaticism: On the Left, there is the absurd notion, despite one historical failure after another, that people can be prosperously and peacefully governed by a top-heavy government. The government has geometrically expanded in its regulatory power in recent years. Especially since 2008.

What is the way out of this morass? Defund most Agencies and allow our Representatives to actually represent us. Right now, unelected, unaccountable Agency appointees and Agency employees govern us. Congress is being rendered superflous. It is decidedly deliberate.

...the belief that America’s founding marked an immensely hopeful turning point in the history of mankind, a radically new beginning in which “common” men...be empowered to pursue happiness in any way they saw fit, however crude or vulgar it might appear to their “betters.”

That single statement is rarely articulated but it is what sets America apart from every other country in the history of the world.

We are the only nation, ever, to be founded on an idea: Godly men and women can govern themselves by choosing people to represent them. I don´t know when that idea got lost on our representatives but if it doesn´t get found again, we will become like every other tyranny or dictatorship in history.

continued....

We are different and yes, we are better due to America´s founding. Our founding IS who we are and it is why we are better. But I see our magnificent experiment as becoming amorphous and wispy in recent years.a leader who remembers.

While I love Feulner, I don´t agree with his last statement:

...it is important to remember that regardless of party or political philosophy, we are Americans, we love our country — and we are patriots.

There are no people on the Right who are not patriots and who do not love this country.

It is only the Left who have to be shamed into wearing American Flag lapel pins.
It is only the Left who want to silence the speech of the opposition.
It is only the Left who want to control what we breathe, eat, smell, read, watch, own, earn, get taxed on, urinate into, and use as energy sources.
Only the Left believe that they know better than the average man or woman.
Only on the Left will you find those who hate the military.
Only the Left ridicules WalMart shoppers and embraces the "art" of perverts.
Only the Left shuns religion except for Islam, which strangely holds some queer fascination for them in spite of its viciousness toward women.
Only the Left think nothing of killing unborn babies.
Only the Left will sue to have a Cross removed from a hillside but will insist on prayer mats and prayer time for Muslims in American workplaces.

So please don´t tell me that Democrats love this country. With few exceptions, that is simply not true. If they loved America, they would take to heart the lessons of history which prove that big government leads to less freedom.

Some people seem to forget that we are a "Republic" not a "Democracy" - look up the definitions! If it were not for Patick Henry we would be a "federalist" nation with no "Bill of Rights". History is facinating with these details from our foundig as a nation.

Americans have "lost the thought" & pastors are not teaching the "truth" anymore! God will not put up with this crap!

They warned that members of the shadowy Khorasan Group, an al-Qaida offshoot, were "nearing the execution phase" of an attack in the U.S. or Europe. They spoke of "active plotting that posed an imminent threat." People may have come away with the impression that the terror group was on the brink of pulling off something awful. Perhaps not. The Republican Party’s top leader in Congress is catching flak for a comment that appears to call the jobless lazy – a comment that has rekindled an old challenge for the party: appearing insensitive or uncaring toward Americans who are poor or in financial difficulty. House Speaker John Boehner was asked after a speech last week to comment on a plan for addressing poverty – promoted by a Republican colleague, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. Speaker Boehner gave a response that was favorable toward Representative Ryan´s plan, but not so favorable about Americans’ work ethic.
