Ravenel likely to jump
into Senate race Friday

Post & Courier [Charleston, SC], by Schuyler Kropf

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 7/4/2014 8:01:05 AM

Former S.C. Treasurer Thomas Ravenel is expected to announce his candidacy for U.S. Senate on Friday as an independent hopeful against Republican incumbent Lindsey Graham. Ravenel said Wednesday that a "large announcement" is planned for Friday and that he will appear in Greenville, but otherwise declined to give specifics. A copy of Ravenel´s schedule says he plans on attending the Red White and Blue Festival in Greenville on July 4. Ravenel recently confirmed he had hired a private vendor to help him collect the minimum 10,000 signatures of South Carolina voters he needs to be placed on the November ballot

Comments:
Personable, from a well-known family (our beautiful new-ish bridge is named the Ravenel Bridge), but with a history containing a cocaine sentence (mentioned near the end of the piece).

Could make a three-way race and that could result in the Democrat being elected. But would that be any worse than Graham?

I know nothing about Ravenel, but on its face it looks like the typical Dem plan to split the Rep vote. If the Republican party does not have a liberal counterpart to put on the ballot to even this out we will lose this election and many more to come. Our country is under attack and its time to use strategies to fight back.

This IS a Democrat plan! It´s very obvious that they will use this over and over in states where they need to win in order to hold the Senate. REPUBLICANS had better to wake up and figure out a way to stop this!

Y´all, Ravenel is a Republican, er, that is except for this election, where he´s turned "Independent." His whole biography is full of conservative flags. His conviction and sentence involving cocaine while he was state treasurer in the Haley government might make a difference. Check Wikipedia for more.

It sounds like a ploy for attention. Does he have the signatures? He probably needs 15,000 to have 10,000 valid ones. I´m no fan of Graham, but at this point I think he´s better than a Dem. He won his last election 58-42 in 2008. Ravenel probably wouldn´t draw enough votes to be a factor.

And it might be interesting to see how many of those valid signatures are registered Democrats.

So, what everyone seems to be saying is that they think three Democrats will be running for the same seat, instead of just two. Why would the Dems do that? They are guaranteed a liberal leftist already. Why would they throw a third person in the mix?

Support for the terrorist organization Hamas has skyrocketed in Judea, Samaria and Gaza according to a new poll, after Hamas "skyrocketed" Israel with a massive missile barrage and terror war in Operation Protective Edge. A full 61% of Arab residents of Judea, Samaria and Gaza would pick Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh for unity government president if elections were held today, according to the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research poll reported Tuesday by Associated Press (AP). All right, so it was only a straw poll conducted among viewers of yesterday´s BBC Sunday Morning Live debate programme: 95 percent of Britons think multiculturalism has been a failure. But as majority verdicts go, it was a pretty resounding one--and it was delivered despite the BBC´s best efforts to muddy the waters, first by wheeling out two of the nation´s Multi Culti Apologist big guns Owen Jones and Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, and second by pretending that multiculturalism means something other than what it actually means. Gruesome evidence has emerged of attempted ethnic cleansing by Isis, with Amnesty International claiming that the terrorist group has turned northern Iraq into ´blood-soaked killing fields´. The London-based rights group says that Isis, also known as the Islamic State (IS), is trying to wipe out ethnic and religious minorities with mass summary killings that could amount to war crimes. It fears that vulnerable communities such as Assyrian Christians, Yazidis, Turkmen and Shabaks ´risk being wiped off the map of Iraq´. WASHINGTON — The current Congress is on track to be the worst ever at passing laws since modern record-keeping began, with three of its lawmakers failing to introduce a single bill, The Post has learned. The divided House and Senate have managed to pass just 163 laws that garnered President Obama’s signature since the two-year term began in January 2013. At this rate, Congress will have no problem beating the previous record set during the 2011-2013 session in which 284 laws were passed. That was down from 385 laws passed in the 2009-2011 session.
