Pentagon draws red line on Iraqi attack
Washington Times, by Maggie Ybarra & Guy Taylor

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/3/2014 8:41:22 PM

The Pentagon came as close as it has to date on Thursday to identifying a red line that would need to be crossed for the Obama administration to justify an aggressive U.S. military attack on the al Qaeda-inspired extremists who have declared a new Islamic state spanning the border between Syria and Iraq. The Defense Department’s top uniformed official said the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which has seized vast territory over the past month, would have to become a serious threat to the U.S. homeland before the administration alters its existing strategy of collecting intelligence and advising the Iraqi military.

Comments:
When you have a C-I-C that doesn´t know the first thing about military strategy or American history, our own armed forces spins indecisively, as well. What is really happening here are the "rules of engagement´ that kill our troops needlessly are being formulated.

Seems like the same standard drawn for growing the economy, protecting the middle class, providing affordable health care, fixing the highways, protecting our borders, enforcing our laws, respecting the constitution, following his oath of office, or anything else this administration claims as "policy" . . . . . in other words, there is no line, it can not really be defined and 0bama can dance all over the place while the chaos he created continues.

Geneva - The World Health Organization authorised Tuesday the use of experimental drugs to fight Ebola as the death toll topped 1,000 and a Spanish priest became the first European to succumb to the latest outbreak. The declaration by the UN´s health agency came after a US company that makes an experimental serum called ZMapp said it had sent all its available supplies to hard-hit west Africa. "In the special circumstances of this Ebola outbreak it is ethical to offer unregistered interventions as potential treatments or prevention," WHO assistant director general Marie-Paule Kieny told reporters in Geneva, following a meeting

Gene Simmons says that immigrants should learn to speak English if they “want to unlock the keys to the kingdom”. The Kiss frontman was born in Israel and moved to New York with his mother when he was eight-years-old. (Snip) “In America, I could think what I wanted to think, do as I pleased and reach for the stars. In America, I’ve learned, you have an inferred judiciary duty to learn how to speak English. “Get rid of your accent,” he continued. “I did. Be a legal immigrant. I’m a legal immigrant. Come to the country, just buckle your knees a little bit, make an effort to learn about the culture, assimilate to the point that you can.”

L.A. to pay $26 million for ban

The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday finalized a $26-million legal settlement to end a lawsuit over a ban on lunchtime naps by trash-truck drivers. The expenditure, approved on a 9-2 vote, resolves a class-action lawsuit involving nearly 1,100 sanitation workers who said they were improperly barred from sleeping and engaging in other activities during their meal breaks. The Times reported in February that the council had endorsed the settlement. Councilman Paul Krekorian, who supported the payment, said the settlement was not publicly announced earlier this year because it was not final and needed the approval of a judge.

Baghdad - After two days of defiant speeches and special security units deployed in the Iraqi capital, raising the specter of a coup, Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki appeared to back away on Tuesday from his implied threat to use force to stay in power, issuing a statement saying that the army should stay out of politics. Mr. Maliki had reacted angrily on Monday to the Iraqi president’s decision to nominate a different Shiite political figure to be prime minister in his place. He had decried the step as unconstitutional, threatened court action and complained that the United States was scheming to oust him. But he appeared to soften his

RAF Tornado aircraft have left the UK for Cyprus from where they will support efforts to deliver aid to refugees trapped on mountains in northern Iraq. The jets will carry out surveillance ahead of further airdrops as the UN warned tens of thousands were trapped. A "small number" of Chinook helicopters would also be sent for "further relief options", the Foreign Office said. It comes as Islamic State (IS) fighters seized areas of Iraq, with reports of the slaughter of religious minorities. Among those reportedly being targeted by the jihadists are Iraqi Christians and members of the Yazidi religious sect.

President Obama has been pushing for regime change for Iraq since late June, The Daily Beast has learned. No, Obama has not proposed toppling Iraq’s government by force like his predecessor once did. But the president has instructed his diplomats in Washington and Baghdad to find an alternative to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Since June those diplomats have quietly supported a member of Maliki’s own political party to be the next prime minister. (Snip) “We have been working very quietly on the ground and sending messages to various parties that al-Abadi is a viable alternative,” one U.S. official told

The Obama administration broke the law when it released thousands of illegal immigrants, more than 600 of whom had criminal records, last February as a result of poor planning and micromanagement from Washington, according to an internal audit released Tuesday that says things have not improved in the 18 months since. Compounding matters, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) gave bad information to Congress, initially blaming the looming budget sequester, rather than the agency’s own budget pressures, the Homeland Security inspector general concluded.

A former Maryland teacher won a $350,000 jury award after accusing a black principal of forcing him out of his job because he is white. Jon Everhart sued the Prince George’s County school board, alleging that he faced years of racial discrimination by Principal Angelique Simpson-Marcus at Largo High School, The Washington Post reported. “She called me ‘poor white trash’ and ‘white [expletive],’” Mr. Everhart said. “Her behavior was so outlandish.” Mr. Everhart, who was fired in 2010, said the principal told students that the “only reason a white teacher teaches in P.G. The president who spent years touting the withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq suddenly has had to distance himself from that action. At the White House on Saturday morning — less than 48 hours after authorizing airstrikes against Islamist militants and humanitarian air drops to save the lives of trapped Iraqi civilians — President Obama blamed his predecessor, George W. Bush, for the absence of American troops in Iraq and rejected the assertion that he could have left a small peacekeeping force in the war-torn nation. He uttered those after three years, and a successful re-election campaign, in which

President Obama must really be teed off. Hillary Rodham Clinton, his once-loyal secretary of state and his likeliest successor, has gone rogue, criticizing his foreign policy as too timid. Obama responded with not one but two rounds of golf. Clinton, in an interview with Jeffrey Goldberg published by the Atlantic over the weekend, offered a withering comment on the Obama doctrine, described in shorthand by White House officials as “don’t do stupid [expletive].” Said Clinton: “Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.” As the criticism became public, Obama was doggedly sticking with

It didn´t take long for Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) to embrace amnesty again. As soon as he won his Senate primary election against conservative Joe Carr, Alexander said it was "embarrassing" that Republicans have not yet passed a bill. Never mind that Alexander spent nearly his entire primary campaign trying to convince voters that he was against "amnesty" and would never dare to embrace it before the primary election. “I don’t know how it will affect our politics in the near term," Alexander told Politico of a comprehensive immigration bill. “I think it’s embarrassing for us not to deal with the problem, and
