WASHINGTON – U.S. health authorities detected two cases of the H1N1 swine flu virus in Central American immigrant children who are being held in detention facilities in Texas´ Rio Grande Valley, an executive of the Border Patrol union said. Chris Cabrera, vice president of National Border Patrol Council Local 3307, confirmed the cases to KGBT television´s Action 4 News. Lucky us, guess who gets to pay for this ´contribution´ from Central American immigrants? Just bringing the disease Americans won´t carry!

With luck, this will spread through the detention centers. I would be okay with federal employees getting cooties from this barbarian horde. IN my humble opinion, anyone who continues to take a paycheck in exchange for assisting in this attack on our nation is guilty.

Has anyone in the media attempted to find out why all of a sudden all these poor little darlings are arriving at our boarder. Who exactly is transporting them through Mexico, and who gave them the green light?

Venezuela´s annual inflation

Venezuela´s annual inflation rate has risen to 63.4%, the highest in Latin America, according to official figures published on Tuesday. The figures are the first released by the central bank since May, which has led critics to accuse the government of withholding data for political reasons. The poor state of the economy, among other issues, triggered mass anti-government protests earlier this year. They have since died down, but many continue to grapple with shortages. The central bank did not publish its scarcity index, a measure of goods that are missing from store shelves, but shortages of basic items such as flour, milk and toilet

Numbers disclosed by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) show accrued inflation in 2014 hit 39% by the end of August, which translates into the highest increase in prices recorded over the first eight months of the year since 1997. José Guerra, former economic research manager at the BCV, explained that "demand soars because the BCV prints bolivars to finance the government, while supply declines due to a drop in imports, because there have been cuts in the supply of dollars. In addition, production has plummeted, especially food production." Over the last 12 months, the cost of food and non-alcoholic

Federal agents launched a series of raids in the downtown Los Angeles fashion district on Wednesday and seized an estimated $65 million in cash and other assets they allege were part of a widespread attempt by Mexican drug cartels to launder narcotics profits. Nine people were arrested in raids targeting 70 locations, many of them businesses in the fashion district. Federal officials said they believe the drug organizations have used numerous businesses in the garment district to convert their vast earnings into pesos, turning Los Angeles into a hub for “trade-based money laundering.”

Liberal-leaning late-night talk show host Bill Maher told reporters Wednesday that he could see voting for Republican Sen. Rand Paul over Hillary Rodham Clinton for the 2016 presidency. “Rand Paul is an interesting candidate to me. Rand Paul could possibly get my vote,” Mr. Maher, the host of HBO’s “Real Time,” told The Hill. Mr. Maher admitted that he favored the less adventurous foreign policy espoused by Mr. Paul’s father, former Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul, and said that Mrs. Clinton, a former Secretary of State, was too keen to go to war. “As I always used to say about

PARIS — France´s summer is fast becoming a memory, and so is one of its iconic beach sights: the topless woman. As few as 2 percent of French women under 35 now say they want to bare their breasts, according to an Elle magazine poll this summer. It´s a far cry from the once-ubiquitous scenes of semi-nudity on the French Riviera, epitomized by 1960s blond bombshell Brigitte Bardot. "It´s seen as vulgar. People are more prudish these days," explains 60-year old Muriel Trazie, keeping her breasts out of the public eye while sunning herself on Paris Plages, the French capital´s summer beach. Sandra

Legal immigration is a vital and necessary resource to enhance our economy and culture. Illegal immigration is an affront to those who follow the law. While Mexico relies on more than $20 billion in annual remittances from Mexican expatriates in the U.S., illegal immigration continues to cost Los Angeles County taxpayers alone nearly $2 billion a year and siphons resources away from vital municipal services for legal immigrants and county residents. Our healthcare delivery system has become the HMO for the world, and our education system is failing. In public safety, 25 percent of our county jail inmates are illegal – and the

What concerned Kelly most in the first part of the interview was that “little Eichmanns” comment, the argument being that Eichmann played a role in horrible atrocities even though he didn’t directly carry out the Final Solution, which he views as similar to the financial

Arguments for a universal basic income (UBI) — in which everyone without exception would receive an equal stipend — have flourished in policy-centric areas of the internet, including The Week. Advocates of UBI see it as a blunter, more effective means of reducing poverty and shrinking the inequality gap. But even if UBI proponents are right on the merits, Tyler Cowen argues that the politics of the issue are not favorable. Under
