What unites Isis and al-Qaeda?
Blowing up American planes

Ever since Islamist militants emerged as the dominant force in the conflicts in Iraq and Syria, much has been written about how groups such Isis, which is currently in the process of establishing an Islamic Caliphate in northern Iraq, should be distinguished from the mainstream al-Qaeda movement. Isis fighters are so extreme, or so the argument goes, that even al-Qaeda is appalled at their barbarous treatment of their fellow Muslims, to the extent that Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda´s somewhat isolated leader, has attempted to disown them. But as transportation chiefs on both sides of the Atlantic are now giving active consideration

If these guys get their feces covered little hands on stinger missiles, look out. There will not be a safe flight out of any airport in the world.

"particularly when they can move easily through the desert wilderness from one ungoverned space to another." This sounds a bit like the desert wilderness between Mexico and the Southwest.

When W was in office, we had a serious anti-terror regimen in place. We were kicking Al Qaida´s butt everywhere we found them. Now, after Obama recklessly declared that Al Qaida is on the ropes? Not so much.

And let´s not forget the MSM´s role in the collapse of the War on Terror. They vilified Bush and Cheney and Tony Blair, who were all willing to do the dirty work to keep us safe. Now, no public official will touch the War on Terror, and who can blame them? No one wants to be vilified day after day in the press.

So, we no longer have an effective War on Terror, thanks to Obama and the MSM - and thanks to every voter who pull the lever for Obama, twice. Thanks guys.

When I read things like this, I often wonder why we don´t just nuke Syria and be done with it..
Too bad. So sad. My bad.
And for every subsequent jihadi attack, nuke another.
Ultimately, I believe they´d get the message.

America waded into the unfolding crisis in Iraq today as it dispatched two warplanes to bombard an ISIS artillery battery in a bid to halt the extremist horde that is sweeping the country and save hundreds of thousands of innocent lives. The F/A-18C Hornets took off from the USS George H. W. Bush in the Persian Gulf this morning before unleashing 500lb laser-guided bombs on a unit of Islamic State fighters marching on Kurdish capital Erbil, where U.S. troops are stationed as well as the American consulate. Hamas fired a huge barrage of rockets into Israel from Gaza today, breaking the fragile 72-hour ceasefire. The truce expired at 8am local time this morning and just moments later 21 rockets were fired into the southern part of the country, Israel said. Three years after US President Barack Obama turned his back on Iraq by ordering the withdrawal of American troops, he now finds himself having to order military intervention against an Iraqi foe that is infinitely more lethal than anything American forces encountered during their troubled campaign in the aftermath of Saddam Hussein´s overthrow. [Snip] I thought this was a pretty lame excuse at the time--Washington could easily have got a deal if it really wanted one--and now we are reaping the appalling consequences of that decision in the form of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis), which is

God bless America. Following the announcement last night by Barack Obama that the United States is about to resume military operations in Iraq, it appears the Yazidi will not now be killed with their families. There is also hope that Iraq’s other minorities may face some form of protection from their persecutors. It’s an announcement that won’t be welcomed by everyone. The old charges of US adventurism and imperialism will be trotted out. And with some historic justification. Iraq is after all the scene of the United States most catastrophic foreign policy misjudgement. “It’s not the job of the US to act

The number of Americans renouncing their U.S. citizenship remains near a record high, ahead of new rules being introduced to clamp down on tax evaders. In the first half of the year, 1,577 Americans gave up their nationalities at U.S. embassies across the world, according to Federal Register data. This was only the second time the figures have been more than 1,500 since records began in 1998. Harsher asset-disclosure rules came into effect on July 1, under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (Fatca), meaning that foreign banks such as those in Switzerland are turning over data on their American clients

Barack Obama today authorised US airstrikes in northern Iraq to defend hundreds of thousands of non-Muslims being hunted down and slaughtered by ISIS hoards as he declared: ´America is coming to help.´ His dramatic call to arms came as the chaos engulfing Iraq escalated rapidly last night with a re-energised Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant storming towns in the north, executing villagers and chasing thousands from their homes into the desert. Already dozens of Yazidis--who ISIS have denounced as devil-worshippers because of their ancient set of beliefs which predate Christianity and Islam--have been murdered as the extremist fighters overran the

Diabetes has been shown to reduce the average lifespan by about eight years. But the UK study, led by Cardiff University, found that when patients with diabetes were given the drug metformin they in fact lived longer than others without the condition. Even those two specific missions are more complicated than that, however. First, the U.S. humanitarian mission on Mount Sinjar began Thursday with airdrops by military aircraft, but it could require targeted airstrikes in order to “break the siege” at the base of the mountain and
