What unites Isis and al-Qaeda?
Blowing up American planes

Ever since Islamist militants emerged as the dominant force in the conflicts in Iraq and Syria, much has been written about how groups such Isis, which is currently in the process of establishing an Islamic Caliphate in northern Iraq, should be distinguished from the mainstream al-Qaeda movement. Isis fighters are so extreme, or so the argument goes, that even al-Qaeda is appalled at their barbarous treatment of their fellow Muslims, to the extent that Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda´s somewhat isolated leader, has attempted to disown them. But as transportation chiefs on both sides of the Atlantic are now giving active consideration

If these guys get their feces covered little hands on stinger missiles, look out. There will not be a safe flight out of any airport in the world.

"particularly when they can move easily through the desert wilderness from one ungoverned space to another." This sounds a bit like the desert wilderness between Mexico and the Southwest.

When W was in office, we had a serious anti-terror regimen in place. We were kicking Al Qaida´s butt everywhere we found them. Now, after Obama recklessly declared that Al Qaida is on the ropes? Not so much.

And let´s not forget the MSM´s role in the collapse of the War on Terror. They vilified Bush and Cheney and Tony Blair, who were all willing to do the dirty work to keep us safe. Now, no public official will touch the War on Terror, and who can blame them? No one wants to be vilified day after day in the press.

So, we no longer have an effective War on Terror, thanks to Obama and the MSM - and thanks to every voter who pull the lever for Obama, twice. Thanks guys.

When I read things like this, I often wonder why we don´t just nuke Syria and be done with it..
Too bad. So sad. My bad.
And for every subsequent jihadi attack, nuke another.
Ultimately, I believe they´d get the message.

In the coming days, Israel will likely need a massive re-supply of military goods of all kinds. It is then when Obama’s real intentions will be exposed for Israel to see. President Obama is the master of Double-Speak, saying one thing and meaning the exact opposite. Remember how Obama promised, “You can keep your doctor if you like him,” and how it turns out that you can’t keep him because Obamacare won’t pay him? Given Obama’s track record of betrayal of Israel, his hollow recital of “Israel has the right to defend herself,” might actually have a doublespeak meaning as well - that "Israel has the right to defend herself", but without any

Sources said that Islamic Jihad´s big ´surprise´ was a long-range, explosive-laden Iranian-made rocket. Islamic Jihad has “many more surprises up its sleeve,” said Abdullah Shalah, head of the terror group said Sunday. In an interview on an Arab satellite station, Shalah said that “We have a store of strategic weapons that we have never used,” but was prepared to bring out against Israel if the war in Gaza continued. Despite so many of Britain’s streets being packed with history, it can be hard to imagine what was happening on them 100 years ago. But these composite images show how places across London and further afield looked during the First World War compared to now. In one photo, German prisoners of war are seen being marched on their way to Southend Pier in Essex accompanied by guards in 1914. This archive image from the war has been matched with a present-day photo of the seafront in the sunshine, taken earlier this month. Further up the east coast, wartime bomb damage

The Duke of Westminster is used to developing properties. As one of Britain’s wealthiest men, he owns swathes of central London through his company, Grosvenor Estates, as well as hotels, office blocks and flats across the country. A judge has ordered officials in Washington DC to allow citizens to carry handguns in public after saying a previous ban on “open carry” weapons is unconstitutional. “There is no longer any basis on which this court can conclude that the District of Columbia’s total ban on the public carrying of ready-to-use handguns outside the home is constitutional under any level of scrutiny,” said Judge Frederick J. Tony Blair--the Middle East Peace Envoy--threw a lavish birthday party for his wife on Friday night at their country bolthole in Buckinghamshire, while the grim death toll from the Gaza conflict passed the 1,050 mark. Mr Blair, whose role is to hammer out a ceasefire in times of conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians, spent most of last week in the UK before hosting the couple’s friends at the party, estimated to have cost about £50,000. He held the surprise 60th birthday party for Cherie at their £6million country mansion South Pavilions, formerly the home of Sir John Gielgud, inviting

Hamas leaders agreed to a renewed 24-hour ceasefire today--hours after the Gaza Strip erupted with gunfire and artillery explosions when the previous truce came to an end. The announcement gave rise to hopes for a brief pause in the conflict. The ceasefire is due to start at 2pm local time. Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, an Israeli army spokesman, did not say if Israel would observe the truce during the requested time. He said troops would continue demolishing Hamas military tunnels. Israel had previously announced a “humanitarian” truce from 8am until 8pm on Saturday, later extending this until midnight. The security cabinet then

The lesson comes too late for the United States, but there it is: after the US abandoned its military base and its foreign policy influence in Iceland in 2006, both Russia and China are now showing how keen they are to fill the void and take advantage of the growing strategic importance of the island nation at the edge of the Arctic Circle. It is more than just tiny Iceland’s rich fisheries and potential undersea mineral wealth that is attracting both the largest country in the world and the most populous. Medical staff who helped stop a gunman from killing more people at a Pennsylvania hospital on Thursday have been been hailed as heroes. Dr Lee Silverman, who police say may have been the intended target, and caseworker John D´Alonzo, were able to quickly stop Richard Plotts after he shot dead their co-worker. The 49-year-old, who has a history of mental illness, was attempting to reload his gun when Silverman fired several shots, and D´Alonzo wrestled him to the ground. President Obama appears poised to take executive action that would legalize as many as 5 million illegal immigrant parents of U.S.-born children, a prospect that riles local immigration critics and adds a new dimension to concern about swelling immigrant populations in states like Massachusetts eyed as hosting sites for thousands of children who crossed the border unaccompanied. The Associated Press reported yesterday White House officials are laying the groundwork for an executive order that would automatically legalize roughly 5 million of an estimated 11 million people who have entered the country without legal authorization or overstayed their visas.

When The Times of Israel’s Avi Issacharoff first reported the content of John Kerry’s ceasefire proposal on Friday afternoon, I wondered if something had gotten lost in translation. It seemed inconceivable that the American secretary of state would have drafted an initiative that, as a priority, did not require the dismantling of Hamas’s rocket arsenal and network of tunnels dug under the Israeli border. Yet the reported text did not address these issues at all, nor call for the demilitarization of Gaza. It seemed inconceivable that the secretary’s initiative would specify the need to address Hamas’s demands for a lifting of

The IDF has not yet located and destroyed all of Hamas´ terror tunnels, but the consensus about the intent behind them is quite clear. This is Jonathan Dahoah HeLevi of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas prime minister, delivered a revealing speech on March 23, 2014, in which he stressed the strategic importance of the Hamas attack tunnels, which, he argued, have changed the balance of power with Israel, when taken together with his organization’s military build-up.
