Obama paying the price
for insisting he’s right

New York Post, by Michael Goodwin

The joke about the obsessively doting mother comes to mind. Watching her son parade with rows of fellow troops, she notices he is on his left foot when they are all on the right. “Why are they out of step?” she asks. So it is with Barack Obama. The nation is turning against him, yet he shouts to the heavens that he is right and the country is wrong. Mothers can get away with that sort of thing. Presidents and their parties get shellacked. (snip) Let me be clear: Obama is flirting with disaster. This and other polls show he

Even if Republicans take the Senate they will never impeach Obama and he knows it.

He could care less what Americans think. He´s more concerned about radical Islam terrorist´s opinions and illegals. We just pay the bills.

The picture captures his attitude. Chin high, angry eyes, petulant pursed lips, and, if the photo showed it, crossed arms with middle finger of both hands raised expressing his opinion of The People.

Not to worry, news of the economic boom will save him. Jobs increased just enough to look good but not change the quantitative easing schedule. Jobs are a little bit better than last quarter but that´s not all that good. Last quarter had a GDP decline of almost 3% so this good news is only a friendly interpretation of the numbers, not proof of a recovering economy . . . still that´s the way it will be portrayed. The end of this quarter will be the crucial point. They have to show honest to God economic progress or rely on lies. I strongly suspect the latter because theses guys don´t know how to do the former nor do I think they care.

Burger King buying Tim Hortons

MIAMI — Burger King says it struck a deal to buy Tim Hortons Inc. for about $11 billion, a move that would give the fast-food company a stronger foothold in the coffee and breakfast market. The corporate headquarters of the new company will be in Canada, which stands to help lower Burger King´s taxes. Such tax inversions have been criticized by President Barack Obama and Congress because they mean a loss of tax revenue for the U.S. government. Burger King and Tim Hortons said the chains will continue to be run independently and that Burger King will still operate out

While President Obama dithers, Congress needs to act against ISIS. House and Senate leaders should reconvene Congress this week and take the unprecedented step of authorizing military action against ISIS for President Obama’s signature. Customarily, a president takes the first step, presenting a draft Authorization for the Use of Military Force (similar to a declaration of war), then negotiating with Congress on the goals and scope. But Obama’s intentions are unknown, so Congress should seize the initiative. The world is waiting for an American response to the beheading of James Foley and ISIS’s explicit threats to attack this country and

Princeton University Professor and world-renowned intellectual Dr. Robert P. George authored a petition calling upon President Obama and Congress to not stop, not contain, but destroy the Islamic State terror group. Dr. George has been called by The New York Times the most influential conservative Christian thinker in the United States. The petition is available on IraqRescue.org and features the signatures of prominent intellectuals, academics, and subject matter experts – individuals such as Dr. Russell Moore, President of the Ethics and Liberty Commission, and Benjamin Carson, M.D., Emeritus Professor of Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins. Stand by for a new acronym for the ISIS/ISIL terrorist group causing havoc across Syria and Iraq. One of the Arab world’s top Sunni authorities launched a campaign Sunday urging media to drop all names for the group that incorporate the word “Islamic,” in favor of “al-Qaeda separatists in Iraq and Syria” (QSIS). Dar al-Iftaa (“the House of Fatwas”) in Cairo, headed by Egyptian grand mufti Shawki Ibrahim Allam, has launched an Internet-based campaign aimed at distancing Islam from the group known variously as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham, or simply Islamic

A very useful YouGov poll that tracks public sentiment about Ferguson over time shows that despite the 24/7 racial demagoguery from cable news network´s like CNN and MSNBC, public opinion is moving in the exact opposite direction of what the media is aiming for. Between August 14-17 a plurality of only 45% believed Ferguson residents reacted unreasonably following the shooting of Michael Brown. Four days later that number jumped to a clear majority of 56%. Those that consider the resident reaction reasonable only increased from 25% to 27%. Despite a week of heavy and heavily biased reporting, support for the

Files scheduled to be released from Clinton White House records will show his efforts to shackle militias and set up a "strict licensing system" for paramilitary groups, Politico reports. In other words, gun control was to be complemented--and in places, supplemented--by people control. According to Politico, the release is certain to raise the ire of citizens already concerned about "enhancing government surveillance powers and regulating armed groups of U.S. citizens." Upon release, the files are expected to show that Clinton´s plans ran into trouble when his own attorneys "feared that some of the proposals could violate the Constitution." The files

Today´s news of a coming bloodbath at CNN and HLN is a reminder that while CNN has been able to use the unrest in Ferguson to race-bait its way to better ratings, everyone knows that´s temporary. Without something that allows the left-wing network to appeal to the lowest common denominator, CNN is almost certain to fall back into the ratings basement until something else comes along for the network to cynically exploit. So here come the layoffs and buyouts. In the headline, The Wrap describes these layoffs as "imminent´: Some 550 buyouts are to be offered at Time Warner´s Turner

Martin Dempsey, speaking to reporters on board a military plane traveling to Afghanistan, said Sunday that he believes the Sunni insurgent group formerly known as ISIS is more of a regional threat and is not currently plotting or planning attacks against the U.S. or Europe. ISIS has repeatedly made threats to attack the U.S. through social and conventional media. Earlier this month, in a

Democrat Michelle Nunn is running ahead of David Perdue in the race for the U.S. Senate in Georgia. The WSB-TV poll found that Mrs. Nunn has 47 percent to 40 percent edge over Mr. Perdue. The libertarian candidate, Amanda Swafford, received 3 percent, and 10 percent of the respondents were undecided. The winner of the race will replace retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss. Mrs. Nunn, the daughter of former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn, is seen as one of Democrats best bets to flip control of a GOP-held seat. Republicans need to flip six seats to win back the Senate.

FERGUSON, Mo. — It was 1 a.m. and Michael Brown Jr. called his father, his voice trembling. He had seen something overpowering. In the thick gray clouds that lingered from a passing storm this past June, he made out an angel. And he saw Satan chasing the angel and the angel running into the face of God. Mr. Brown was a prankster, so his father and stepmother chuckled at first. “No, no, Dad! No!” the elder Mr. Brown remembered his son protesting. “I’m serious.” And the black teenager from this suburb of St. Louis, who had just graduated from high

Rep. Paul Ryan said the notion that the House could have unilaterally stopped Obamacare through a government shutdown last year was not a plausible idea to sell the country on. The Wisconsin Republican was addressing a passage from his new book on CBS’s “Face the Nation” in which he described last year’s push toward a government shutdown — in which House conservatives unsuccessfully tried to defund Obamacare — as a “suicide mission.” The purpose of the passage in the book is to try to unify the party, he said, noting that he held back a bit more at the time with party unity in mind. “I don’t think we can succeed if all we do is
