Why China is stealing
America´s corn seeds

CNN, by Charles Riley

HONG KONG- Three years ago, a security guard working for seed company Pioneer Hi-Bred came across something unusual on a road in Iowa: Just off the pavement, a man was on his knees, digging in a field. Challenged by the guard, Mo Hailong claimed to be an employee of the University of Iowa who was traveling to a nearby conference. He jumped back in his car and sped away. U.S. authorities would later accuse Hailong, and five other Chinese nationals, of stealing corn seeds and attempting to smuggle them back to China. A seventh defendant, Mo Yun, was arrested and

That stuff is likely patented, crime to steal it and copy it. No worries, the POTUS will take of the problem.

Oh wait, that´s obama, I forgot. Never mind. He´s busy eating pies with crack cocaine in them.

The expense of doing these hybrids is huge. Stealing the seeds is a major crime.

Interesting to me today as I saw the most extraordinary feeding frenzy at our local market yesterda. A very large corn display had been literally mobbed by a number of the Chinese who live in our area. 6 ears for $1. Grabbing and shucking and chattering. My husband, who ducks shopping when he can, was astonished, as was I.

GOP Winning Midterm Intensity

Even the most casual sports watcher knows that winning sometimes comes down to which team wants it more. And by that measure, six weeks away from the elections in November, Republicans are dominating the midterm game. A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Annenberg poll shows that 54 percent of Republicans say they’re highly interested in the upcoming elections, compared to 44 percent of Democrats who say the same. Another way to look at the GOP intensity advantage: Democrats hold a four-point lead on the generic ballot, 46 percent to 42 percent. But among high-interest voters, Republicans have the edge,

Gifu, Japan -- Police said Sunday that at least 30 people have been discovered in a state of "cardiac arrest" on a Japanese volcano that started erupting a day earlier. The description of the people´s condition means they were found without a pulse and weren´t breathing but hadn´t yet been declared dead by a doctor. Rescue teams had begun searching Sunday for dozens of climbers who were caught by the sudden eruption of Mount Ontake. The volcano in central Japan unleashed a huge cloud of ash late Saturday morning that billowed down the mountainside and engulfed hikers in its path.

St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said at a media briefing early Sunday that the officer approached the men around 9:10 p.m. because the community center was closed. As the officer approached, the men ran away. When the officer gave chase, "one of the men turned and shot," Belmar said. The officer was shot in the arm and is expected to survive, he said.

Republicans are hoarding money in a key race that could determine control of the Senate, leaving themselves vulnerable to being outgunned by Democrats ahead of Election Day. But it could be worth it. Top Republican strategists are quietly preparing to pour money into Louisiana after November, even reserving hotel rooms and millions of dollars’ worth of ad time. If Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu doesn’t win more than half the vote in the general election, she would very likely be forced into a one-on-one runoff with Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy. We’re being had. Again. For six years, President Obama has endeavored to will the country into accepting two pillars of his alternative national-security reality. First, he claims to have dealt decisively with the terrorist threat, rendering it a disparate series of ragtag jayvees. Second, he asserts that the threat is unrelated to Islam, which is innately peaceful, moderate, and opposed to the wanton “violent extremists” who purport to act in its name. Now, the president has been compelled to act against a jihad that has neither ended nor been “decimated.” The jihad, in fact, has inevitably intensified under his counterfactual

Political pollsters have a tough job. They have to create formulas to determine if the person they are interviewing is likely to vote, and it is within this calculation that their reputations are made. Typically, those who are likely to vote in an off-year election are pretty set. They are the people who always vote in elections — with some motivated by specific issues. In a wave election, the number of those motivated by specific issues escalates, changing the electoral landscape as the candidates who are beneficiaries of this increased participation sweep to victory. The 2014 election is rapidly looking like something new
