Highway crisis looms as soon as

WASHINGTON – Gridlock in Washington will lead to gridlock across the country if lawmakers can’t quickly agree on how to pay for highway and transit programs, President Barack Obama and his top officials warned Tuesday. States will begin to feel the pain of cutbacks in federal aid as soon as the first week in August if Congress doesn’t act, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said in a letter to states. That’s because the balance in the federal Highway Trust Fund is dropping and will soon go below $4 billion, the cushion officials say is needed for incoming fuel tax revenue to

What happened to the Stimulus money that was going to provide all those shovel ready jobs?
Remember all the signs that went up stating that this road/bridge/tunnel repair work was being provided by the Obama administration? Are those signs still up?
Remember Obama yukking it up about the shovel ready jobs not being shovel ready?

Easily twice as many drivers on the road than 30 years ago, and they still don´t raise enough money to maintain roads. Corker wants to add 12 cents per gallon over the next 2 years then increase the tax at the Rae of inflation.

I can only shake my head in sadness as I think of the trillions of dollars squandered on corruption and theft. End that, and we could run this nation in perpetuity.

Hey, lets continue believing that elected Republicans are different from elected Democrats.

I´m old enough to remember gas being .25/gallon and new highways were being built from the gas tax on that amount. Gas is now closer to $4/gallon and there´s not enough money to keep the highways and bridges in repair? That can happen when you start using the money for other things than what it was intended for.

Rep. Donna F. Edwards is stooped in a corner fiddling with the sound system. Her event, guest-starring House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, is about to start. With the dissolution of the Obama administration’s foreign policy in the Middle East and elsewhere, President Obama is talking as fast as he can. Obama set some kind of a land speed record for double-talk in his interview with Steve Kroft on 60 Minutes last night, highlighted by Obama’s passing the buck for his misunderestimation of ISIS to the Director of National Intelligence et al. That hasn’t gone down too well, in part because it conflicts with what one could learn from following the headlines over the past year or two. Empirical reality belies Obama’s buck-passing.
