Hillary Clinton’s woes continue
Washington Post, by Jennifer Rubin

Original Article

Recent events have not been kind to Hillary Clinton, but she is far from an innocent victim in what surely is one of the worst revival tours in memory. Hillary Clinton, still unwilling to acknowledge her and her boss’s failure to accurately assess the threats from al-Qaeda and the spread of jihaists into Libya, stubbornly insists we really don’t know why the jihadists attacked and killed our people. Oh, puhleez. While not a supporter of civilian trials for enemy combatants, I must admit there is something satisfying about the prosecution’s version of events laid out for all to see. One person´s snark is another person´s analysis. Jennifer Rubin is a northeastern version of a GOP conservative. Maybe not a Virginian´s cup of Tea Party.

However, she gets Hillary just right in this column. Hillary Clinton has difficulty dealing with doubters and that has been obvious on her book tour. We´re not going to crown another royalty wannabe. The country has, perhaps, learned from 2008.

Hillary created her own dilemma. She was obligated to push the obama administration "truth" that al Qaeda and all terrorism was on the wane when she and the rest of us knew that it was a political lie. Now she has to wiggle out from under four years of living that lie to exercise her ultimate ambition. She is failing because the truth is stronger than she is. Ain´t life sweet?

One has to ask, "Why would corporations and universities spend one quarter of a million dollars to hear Hillary Clinton speak?" Does anyone consider her to be even a moderately accomplished orator? No. Does she bring keen insight from her years of experience in guiding a company or governmental branch through challenging crises? Nope. The tone or timbre of her voice? No. The potential purchase of political favor? Aha.

Stats could be printed between her and her opponents like team heights and weights in a football or basketball program. What a hippo!

The show trial is underway and the guilty verdict is guaranteed, as a United Nations panel makes a pretense of investigating human rights violations in the 50-day war between Israel and Hamas. To his severe discredit, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has sanctioned a proceeding whose transparent rigging would be at home in a totalitarian regime. Israel is, of course, the defendant going down the tubes. Hamas started the conflict by firing thousands of rockets indiscriminately into the Jewish state from heavily populated areas of Gaza, and prolonged the suffering by violating ceasefire after ceasefire that Israel honored. Joseph R. Biden’s 2016 presidential ambitions already look like they have been swallowed whole by the Hillary Rodham Clinton juggernaut, but political analysts say the vice president still has a narrow path to victory — one that depends on either out-politicking the former first lady in crucial states such as Iowa or praying she makes a grave mistake. Mr. Biden and Mrs. Clinton both visited Iowa, home of the first caucuses in the presidential primary cycle, over the past week. Neither has declared a White House run in two years, but each seemed to be courting the Democratic foot soldiers necessary

Supporters of the Obama administration like to create the impression that there is no viable alternative to the Affordable Care Act — i.e., Obamacare. But that is demonstrably not true. Republican senators Richard Burr, Tom Coburn, and Orrin Hatch introduced a plan earlier this year that would cover just as many people with insurance as Obamacare at a fraction of the cost. Now we have confirmation, in the form of a new cost estimate, that a similarly constructed but slightly different proposal would also cost less, while covering nearly the same number of people. The plan, developed and promoted by the 2017

On Monday, Attorney General Eric Holder, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, and New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo sounded the alarm about the escalating danger of a terrorist attack on America by ISIS and other jihadists. Too bad the Obama administration lacks the resolve or sense of urgency to meet this danger head on. Worse, political correctness is hindering New York, a likely target, from tracking and stopping the jihadists in our midst. Holder announced “pilot programs” to “raise awareness,” bringing together religious leaders, community leaders, and law enforcement to build “community partnerships.” Sounds heartwarming. he New York Times on Wednesday carried a provocative front-page dispatch from Kentucky by Abby Goodnough, who’s been doing a superb job of covering the impact of the Affordable Care Act in the Bluegrass State as a window into the law’s import nationally. The piece captures the political dynamic in Kentucky, where Obamacare has slashed the rate of the uninsured from 20.4 percent to 11.9 percent, the second largest drop after Arkansas, but where this success is seemingly not redounding to the benefit of Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, who is now lagging in the polls against Mitch McConnell.

Devastating. That´s really the only way to describe Politico´s piece on DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. (I hereby nominate her for Worst Week in Washington.) (Editor´s note: Three words -- Joseph. Robinette. Biden.) Based on interviews with DNC staffers -- both former and current -- the piece described Wasserman Schultz as something of a modern-day Tracy Flick: over-eager, disloyal and not shy about promoting her ambitions. It would be fair to say that she sounds like, well, a lot like other politicians. And this would be accurate.
