Animal rights campaigners outraged as
Texas cheerleader poses in dozens of

Global animal lovers are up in arms over a teenage Texas girl´s love of killing big African game, so much so that they´re even demanding she be banned from posting pictures of herself smiling alongside her trophies online. Nineteen-year-old Kendall Jones claims photos of dead hippos, elephants, lions and other beasts on Facebook are a testament to her hunting skills and dedication to game preservation. But critics are appalled by the teen´s beaming social media and are calling Kendall sick and depraved for killing the rare animals and boasting about it online. An online petition to force Kendall to remove

Comments:
Could their objection be the hunter is a whole lot cuter than Teddy Rossvelt? None of the animals she killed are endangered. This is standard fare for the Dallas Safari Club and they are a staple on the Outdoors Channel.

Funny how some folks get upset about controlled, legal hunts and never worry about a dozen or so shootings in Chicago every weekend. Some fatal, some wing shots, but they worry about animals in Africa.

As in most things in the world, I think there is a lot of jealousy in the world. On teh otehr hand, maybe a little privacy would have saved this girl some grief. But social media is a drug. You are exposing yourself to all.

Just got back from East Africa....saw active snares set by poachers. Tanzania just passed a law, "shoot first, ask questions last"....I am sorry, but this is ridiculous to post these beautiful animals on social media. Standard fare for safari clubs?? These people need to get a life.

Watch these animals in their natural habitat with their young and then go shoot them? I will never understand people like this. Never!!

No hunter condones outright cruelty.

That said, when AREN´T animal rights campaigners outraged? They can´t drive down the street past a McDonald´s with having a nervous breakdown.

Finally, if animals have rights when will one of the animals speak up to assert those rights?

Being a meat hunter for 50 years, I am aware of the mental gymnastics wealthy "sports" go though to justify their trophy fetishes. Safari club seems to attract the most blatant and obnoxious of the ilk. (see ken bering) If they really need to satisfy some primordial urge, at least have the consideration to do it in private. To display this (anything, really) on social media was just plain stupid.

Reality Check time, folks. These are NOT random hunts, they are game preserve "culls." The preserves get more animals than their area can support so they identify older, non-breeding or physically damaged animals and auction off the rights to hunt them to raise money for the preserve. The hunt is done with game preserve rangers in attendance.

Without the auction the animals would have to be culled (aka killed) by the rangers anyway.

There is a skill set with hunting -- if needed and you do not have that skill set don’t look for me to feed you. If things keep going the way they are you will need to be able to protect your family here in the good old USA. Our gov has already demonstrated that it won’t protect us. I’d rather have her as a neighbor than someone that gets upset with a little blood and culling a heard. Just like the clowns in the N.E. that cut back on deer hunting and then went bonkers over bambi eating their plants and making a mess in the yard.

#7 is right. Presently, African endangered animals are never targeted by responsible hunter guides--poachers are the exception--never mind what Hemingway wrote seventy or eighty years ago. Back then things were different. I love the African fauna. It should be protected.

These so-called animal rights campaigners are big time hypocrites. They raise hell about controlled legal hunts but remain totally silent when PETA kills pets by the thousands and dumps them in garbage bins for local waste haulers to use tax payer money to pick them up and dump them into dumps.

The anniversary of the Serbian-American inventor´s birth will be celebrated Thursday with cake and a flag-raising ceremony at his former laboratory in Shoreham, followed by discussions of his work at Shoreham-Wading River High School. Both events are free. If you’re an American, you might not flinch when you hear a certain bumpy green citrus fruit referred to as a kaffir lime. But in many parts of the world—most notably South Africa—the common moniker for the fruit, best known as an ingredient in Southeast Asian cooking, sounds heinously offensive. As Veronica Vinje recently pointed out on Straight.com, kaffir is “a horrible racial epithet, akin to using the N-word in North America.” So why are these limes called by that name? The K-word has a long, complex history, but how it came to refer to a type of citrus fruit is a bit murky. The Arabic word kafir was originally used to refer to
