Target asks customers
to leave firearms at home

NEW YORK — Target is asking its customers to not bring firearms into its stores, even where it is allowed by law. In a statement posted Wednesday on the retailer´s corporate blog, interim CEO John Mulligan said that Target wants a "safe and inviting" atmosphere for its shoppers and employees. "Bringing firearms to Target creates an environment that is at odds with the family-friendly shopping and work experience we strive to create," he said. (Snip) A group called Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America gathered nearly 400,000 signatures for a petition asking Target to prohibit shoppers from carrying guns

Comments:
After a shakedown by a probable Bloomberg front group, not even fully closeted gun owners are welcome within warm embrace of Target stores. Muslims in full burkas, public displays of affection by the alternative lifestyle set? Strike up the band.

Oh, really? I´ll make sure I let them know I won´t ever be shopping at Target. Fine with me, I find their "gay pride clothing" quite offensive, and I´ll tell them that too. Recently, some other foolish establishment posted a sign in their window, "gun free zone"; and they were promptly robbed. When you advertise your own stupidity, you usually end up paying.

So what, just carry anyway. Its just a store "policy", not an actual state law. If you´re discovered by a store employee, just state, "Oh, sorry. Do you want me to leave now, or after I spend a bunch of money?"

Target lost some of my business after allowing my credit card data to get hijacked at Christmas last year.

Now they want me to come to their store unprotected.

Target can stuff it. They´ve seen the last of my money.

But, we shouldn´t just leave. We should tell them why.

Once again, Target shoot´s itself in the foot. They are already struggling because of declining sales. When they banned the Salvation Army bell ringers during one Christmas season, I avoided them completely. Moron liberals running that corporation will soon kill it off. Sears and K-Mart and Radio Shack are about to bite the big one. Just how many shootings have there been in any Target store? Probably not even when Cabbage Patch dolls were all the rage.

Target asks customers to leave firearms at home - and be good little victims.

If I ever go into another Target store, which I doubt, I´ll be asking the nearest clerk for the code and location of the Safe Room they provide for the customers when someone doesn´t follow their wishes. Or are we supposed to just crouch in some clothing isle and wait to be injured or killed?

What do we expect from a MN-based company? Seems like Target could make for a more family-friendly atmosphere by convincing the customers that their credit card won´t be maxed out by data thieves by the time they make it home.

The problem with Moms Demand Action is they believe they are safe and secure from harm. You can bet most of these moms consider their comfortable world out of harms way. In their favorite store or their cubicle at work all is well. I knew four moms who probably would be alive today if someone in their nice suburban office had concealed carry. Six children in all get the news mom isn´t coming home. Sorry kids.. the office had a no weapons policy and one nutcase customer didn´t hear about the policy.

many years ago we lived in a small town in the White Mtns of AZ. The law was open carry, but the local Wal-Mart had a sign at the cust. service desk requesting that customers check their personal firearms at the cust. svc desk. So really, this isn´t a new concept nor is it particular with Target. I think they´re trying to walk a fine line. The Wal-Mart sign wasn´t annoying in 1997 - but that was then. Life in these United States is a little more threatened these days...

"And he was so amazed at how Americans organized themselves -- you know, coming from aristocratic Europe, which was totally top-down and hierarchical -- he couldn´t believe how many of us were joiners.
