Fat Camps Offer Pudgy Pets
´Pawlates´ to Slim Down

Associated Press, by Sue Manning

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/2/2014 11:59:55 AM

Los Angeles - It’s not just a people problem: Growing rates of obesity in pets have led to the emergence of fat farms offering ‘‘pawlates,’’ ‘´doga’’ and ‘‘Barko Polo,’’ doggie versions of Pilates, yoga and Marco Polo to help slim down man’s best friend. In the U.S., 53 percent of dogs are overweight or obese, up from 45 percent four years ago. In cats, the figure is almost 58 percent, said Dr. Ernie Ward, a veterinarian and founder of the Association of Pet Obesity Prevention in Calabash, North Carolina. Overweight pets can suffer diabetes, joint problems, heart disease and decreased life expectancy, just like obese people, he said.

Comments:
You could have said something, but wish to remain "politically correct" by not insulting pet owner.

Anxiously awaiting Moochele´s program to address the problem of pet obesity. Does she dare starve them into shape like she is our school kids and risk the wrath of the ASPCA?

To be honest, my Whitey (cat) needs to lose weight. I worry about his health and ability to walk sometimes (he has a long spine so he waddles). It is hard to cut them down when they bug you to no end for food and don´t want to run around like they should. If I were rich, I would take him to a fat camp! He is worth it!!! I love that guy...

#3, feed Whitey just as often, but smaller quantities. Try one of the foods for older cats, too.

Also, try making him run around a little more, trailing a string, rolling him a little toy ball, etc. It works.

The Washington Redskins filed a lawsuit Thursday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, seeking to overturn a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s decision that cancelled the team’s trademark registration because it considers the name and logo disparaging. The Redskins are suing five Native Americans who won the headline-making patent case on June 18, providing them with a largely symbolic victory in their fight to force the team to change its name. By suing in federal district court, the Redskins are asking for a chance to defend their name, which they contend celebrates Native Americans.

Ferguson, Missouri - A new witness in the police shooting of unarmed teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, told CNN that Brown and the police officer tussled at the police car window, then the officer shot the teen multiple times, as Brown backed away. "What I saw was when Michael and the cop were wrestling through the window," Tiffany Mitchell told CNN´s Don Lemon. A shot was fired while Brown was out the window. He got free, and the officer got out of the vehicle, followed Brown and shot him, she said. He raised his hands, and the officer kept firing, she said. Washington - Defense Department officials said late Wednesday that United States airstrikes and Kurdish fighters had broken the Islamic militants’ siege of Mount Sinjar, allowing thousands of the Yazidis trapped there to escape. An initial report from about a dozen Marines and Special Operations forces who arrived on Tuesday and spent 24 hours on the northern Iraqi mountain said that “the situation is much more manageable,” a senior Defense official said in an interview. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, speaking to reporters Wednesday night at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., said it was “far less likely now” that the United States

Washington - We know that President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton partied together on Wednesday night on Martha’s Vineyard to mark the birthday of former Chicagoan Ann Dibble Jordan. We don´t know if they hugged. The hug--a joking suggestion from a spokesman for Clinton--was needed in the wake of her distancing herself from the foreign policy of her former boss, a move that annoyed the White House. “The President and First Lady also were happy to have the chance to spend time with Secretary Clinton and former President Clinton,” was all Principal Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz

In September, Keegan was indicted on seven counts of larceny and seven counts of making false claims to Medicaid for billing MassHealth for nearly 10,000 rides that never happened, using the names of a dozen nursing home patients and 47 people who had previously ceased to be. Seoul, South Korea - As Francis became the first pope in 25 years to visit South Korea on Thursday, Seoul´s never-timid rival, North Korea, made its presence felt by firing three short-range projectiles less than an hour before he arrived, officials said. But Pyongyang has a long history of making sure it is not forgotten during high-profile events in the South. The apparent test firing was conducted from Wonsan

This week, instead of walking into a gun shop and handing over my credit card to buy firearms, bullets and grenades, I decided to try a different route: I downloaded highly detailed schematics — like blueprints for a house — of dozens of functional weapons and bullets. If I had the time, a little technical know-how or was willing to sit through tutorials online, I could buy a three-dimensional printer (which makes objects by spraying thin layers of plastic that become shapes) and print and assemble some of these guns. Among the files now sitting on my laptop are parts for an M16, AR-15, AK-47 and other semiautomatic guns.

It’s official: Obamaism is dead. Hillary Clinton killed it. It wasn’t so much a mercy killing as an expedient one, but that’s politics in the best sense. The important thing is that she broke the Democratic omertà code by stating the obvious: The president’s policy of having America sit on the sidelines of a burning world is a disaster that threatens our national security. She doesn’t name names there, but she’s been known to diverge from grassroots conservatives in these matters before. What would happen, though, if Boehner turned around and made a deal with Harry Reid on amnesty in September? One of the goals of Obama’s looming power grab over legalization is to scare Republican leaders with the thought that Latino voters will be so grateful, they’ll break even harder for Democrats in 2016. SWAT teams and angry protesters clashed in a small St. Louis suburb for a third day Tuesday, following the death of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown. The eruption of protests and violence has been a long time coming. While I certainly do not condone rioting, examining the conditions surrounding Brown’s death — and the deaths of several other unarmed black men killed by law enforcement recently — makes clear that community reactions like those in Ferguson, Mo., are bound to happen. America has continued to isolate poor black people in economically depressed neighborhoods under increasingly oppressive police tactics that breed
