Progressive Watchdog Media Matters
Employees Finally Get Their Own Union

Daily Caller, by Tristyn Bloom

Progressive watchdog group Media Matters for America lost the fight to keep its workers from unionizing Monday, the Huffington Post reports. Staff had been agitating moving to unionize since March, with Media Matters executives “fighting it every step of the way,” according to a Service Employees International Union statement. They filed a petition to the National Labor Relations board in April after executives rejected an attempt to unionize through a card check — an open method of unionizing that avoids secret-ballot elections. “The actions of Media Matters executives have placed employees in the impossible position of continuing to produce content

Comments:
What idiots. Why would a tax exempt organization need unions?? What irks the daylights out of me is that this hateful, corrupt group is tax free along with unions. That is a complete and total outrage.

A lefty group facing up to the fact of its employees trying to organize! Reminds me of the days in the late 50’s and early 60’s when the organizers in the ILGWU (Int’l Ladies’ Garment Workers, now part of UNITE since it has lost so many members). Dave Dubinsky, Int’l President, and his power cabal went ballistic, using spies, firing organizers for organizing, refusing to bargain, making threats, calling them names, etc., you name it, making private industry companies look like choir boys. His favorite rant was to call those seeking to organize, “Trotskyites,” after Leon Trotsky, a Russian communist who made the fatal mistake of challenging Josef Stalin, and getting infamously assassinated for his efforts.

Progressives love unions up until they impact their bottom line. One of the major labor unions was in the news about a year ago when their clerical employees wanted to organize a union to represent them in negotiations with the union. I tried to search for this but couldn´t find it through all the pro-union Barbara Streisand.

The American Sociological Association, the leading professional organization for American sociologists, is now granting its members much greater leeway in how to define their gender identities. Previously, the ASA’s membership surveys only allowed three choices of gender: “male,” “female” and “prefer not to answer.” Now, as reported at Inside Higher Ed, members will have no fewer than seven options for their gender choice, with the added ability to select “all that apply.” The added options include “transgender male/transgender man,” “transgender female/transgender woman,” “genderqueer/gender non-conforming,” or another “preferred identity” of their choice not explicitly named. “Genderqueer” is defined by the Gender

A new report from the West Point counterterrorism center challenges the notion that the Islamic State only recently became a major terror threat, describing the network´s gains in Iraq as a crisis four years in the making. A ´supercavitating´ submarine creates a bubble of air that encompasses the whole vehicle by ejecting gas through the nose with enough force that it forms water vapor. This greatly reduces drag and allows it to travel at high speeds not possible by standard submarines. It dazzled the masses when it hit, flexing nuclear-tipped missiles that completed the "nuclear triad" of deterrence. But other technologies soon surpassed it in terms of speed and agility.
