Childhood vaccines are safe. Seriously.
CNN, by Jen Christensen & Nadia Kounang

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 7/1/2014 1:54:28 PM

Children should get vaccinated against preventable and potentially deadly diseases. Period. That´s what a project that screened more than 20,000 scientific titles and 67 papers on vaccine safety concludes this week. The review appears in the latest edition of the medical journal Pediatrics. The evidence strongly suggests that side effects from vaccines are incredibly rare, the study authors said. They found no ties between vaccines and the rising number of children with autism, as a small but vocal group of anti-vaccine activists, including actors Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carey, have said.

We have had our share of home-grown zealots who have bought into (or perhaps originally subscribed to) the misinformation about vaccines.

Diseases like measles and whooping cough that had been literally eradicated in our country are back, in epidemic proportions. And please....none of that stuff about illegal immigrants. If our population has been vaccinated, they should be protected no matter where they go or whom they are near.

No, this is a failure of our very own people, led by morons like Jenny McCarthy. Gullible.

Maybe they need to watch a baby die of whooping cough or a young child deafened by measles to be convinced of the error of their thinking?

Given the alleged risks (even though none may exist) it is still far preferable the the diseases they prevent.
I look at vaccines as insurance. I pay insurance to prevent financial ruin in case of home/accident/health. Vaccines are no different. Well, other than the ´price´ is nil over a lifetime of coverage.

The evidence on the whooping cough vaccine is that it is not very effective in protecting against whooping cough, as the victims in 2010 had almost all been vaccinated. Some vaccines are effective but I believe people should do their own research on the subject, the contents, and the companies who produce the particular shot.

For instance, I myself would never take a vaccine produced by Baxter International after the incident where they shipped vaccines with live bird flu virus in it a few years back.

The whooping cough vaccine should be renewed after a few decades. Mine was done in combination with a Tetanus shot a few years ago.

It is important for anyone who is to care for or be around a young baby to have an up-to-date immunization as very young babies (check it - I believe it´s 6 months) are too young for vaccination. They are the ones in whom whooping cough is often fatal. And no one would wish the symptoms on them. Utter misery for babies.

No.
Vaccines are not safe.
There will always be a John Edwards out there claiming that a birth defect was caused by a vaccine. No science is needed.
All that is needed is a predatory lawyer with theatrical ability.
And children will die.
But that is OK, because lawyers will get rich.

Israel Vows to Destroy Hamas Tunnels
Associated Press, by Peter Enav & Ibrahim Barzak    Original Article

JERUSALEM -- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that Israel will destroy the Hamas tunnel network in the Gaza Strip "with or without a cease-fire," as the military called up another 16,000 reservists to pursue its campaign in the densely-populated territory. Netanyahu´s vow came as international efforts to end the 23-day-old conflict seemed to sputter despite concern over the mounting death toll, with more than 1,300 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and more than 50 Israelis, almost all of them soldiers, killed since July 8. "We have neutralized dozens of terror tunnels and we are committed to complete this mission, with or without a

Hillary Clinton has been working full-time to control the story of her time as Secretary of State. That was the point of her clunky, largely unread book, and the point of her awkward, gaffe-laden book tour. Clinton argues (plausibly) that she wanted a more activist approach to Syria than that served up by her boss. She argues (implausibly) that she wasn’t really sold on the “reset” with Russia. As to Libya, Clinton’s priority must be to duck, to the extent possible, the political fallout from the killing of our ambassador and three other Americans by terrorists in Benghazi. But what about the larger

In 1968, three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine hijacked an Israel-bound El Al flight, diverting it to Algiers. It was one of the first terrorist hijackings in modern history. In response, Israel implemented a wave of unprecedented airport security reforms — including luggage checks and individual passenger screenings. For its efforts to protect passengers, Israel was scorned by the liberal elite for putting innocent travelers through an invasive and burdensome ordeal. Thirty-three years later, al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four US planes, crashing two into the World Trade Center. Today, Israel’s once “insensitive” policies have become

The internal memos and 144-page campaign plan prepared for Democratic Senate candidate Michelle Nunn are a fascinating if somewhat horrifying glimpse of the political industrial complex. The document–available here–was first made public by National Review. Much of the reporting so far has focused on internal opposition research in the memo exploring the potential weaknesses of Ms. Nunn’s candidacy. But I’d argue that the real revelations involve fundraising’s central role in every aspect of political campaigns. That’s not really news, but it is described in the memo in incredible detail. Ms. Nunn is advised to focus on fundraising “with relentless intensity” and to

For some reason the scandals that these books reveal never sinks into the American mind. Today, despite Bill Clinton’s public record of

On what could be the last lawmaking session before the summer recess, both House and Senate are preparing bills to one-up each other on immigration. First, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that if the House passes a border crisis bill, he and Senate Democrats might attach the Gang of Eight comprehensive immigration reform bill to it -- a move that would clearly doom the whole border emergency spending effort. Now, House Republican leaders have written a bill that would stop President Obama from using executive power to legalize millions of currently illegal immigrants -- something Obama is widely thought

A rushed team at the Department of Health and Human Services failed to plan properly or watch over contractors hired to set up and run the online health insurance exchange, setting it up for its spectacular blowout when it rolled out last October, according to a report to be released Thursday. And unless HHS acts, more problems could happen this year, the report warns. Federal officials had just three and a half years to design, build and launch the online marketplace from the time the Affordable Care Act was signed in March 2010 to the time it had to be ready

Conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status had their applications denied by IRS bureaucrats who called them names like “crazies,” “rabid” and other words that can’t be printed in a family newspaper. The tax agency is supposed to be run by nonpartisan, career professionals, but the latest set of emails released by the House Ways and Means Committee suggest the agency is anything but. Until the scandal erupted last year, Lois G. Lerner was in charge of the IRS division overseeing tax-exempt organizations. Congressional investigators have spent months sifting through her emails — the ones that didn’t “go missing” — to find out

Pessimism is a useful prism through which to view the affairs of states. Their ambition to gain, retain, and project power is never sated. Optimism, toward which Americans are generally inclined, leads to rash predictions of history’s ending in global consensus and the banishment of war. Such rosy views accompanied the end of the Cold War. They were also much in evidence a century ago, on the eve of World War I. Then, as now, Europe had lived through a long period of relative peace, after the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Then, too, rapid progress in science, technology, and communications

Israel unleashed its heaviest bombardment in its three-week-old campaign against Hamas in Gaza on Tuesday as the Obama administration battled the growing perception among Israelis that Secretary of State John F. In one bitter exchange, Obama declared that Qatar and Turkey — Hamas’ biggest international supporters — would mediate with the terrorists on Israel’s behalf, according to the TV channel. “I trust Qatar and Turkey.
