How Boko Haram is beating U.S.
efforts to choke its financing

Reuters, by PHIL STEWART AND LESLEY WROUGHTON

When Washington imposed sanctions in June 2012 on Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, he dismissed it as an empty gesture. Two years later, Shekau’s skepticism appears well founded: his Islamic militant group is now the biggest security threat to Africa´s top oil producer, is richer than ever, more violent and its abductions of women and children continue with impunity. As the United States, Nigeria and others struggle to track and choke off its funding, Reuters interviews with more than a dozen current and former U.S. officials who closely follow Boko Haram provide the most complete picture to date of how the group

Islam has a name for this: hundi, or hewala.
It is an informal value transfer system based on the performance and honour of a huge network of money brokers operating outside of, or parallel to, traditional banking, financial channels, and remittance systems.
It is nearly impossible to track.
And because 1/7th of all of the Islamic tithe (the zagat) MUST go to fund jihad, billions of dollars move in this way from the ´´peaceful, but wealthy Muslims of America´´ to Boko Haram, al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezb´allah and so on every day!

Radical Islam seems to resemble the evil organizations of the 1960´s spy movies.

Narcissist (or psychopathic) leaders committed to terror, mayhem and world domination coincide with the evil organizations of those old movies.

Tiger Woods finishes British

HOYLAKE, England – Tiger Woods drove away from Royal Liverpool Golf Club an hour before leader Rory McIlroy teed off Sunday in the final round of the 143rd British Open, another disappointing result in a major championship in his wake. After a promising 69 in the first round, the former world No. 1´s wheels spun out of control as he looked – and then sounded – very much like the man who needed much more time to get ready following back surgery March 31. With a closing 75, Woods, who didn´t drive the ball well all week and putted poorly, finished near

JERUSALEM — Hamas militants intensified their attacks on Israeli forces Saturday, killing two soldiers on Israeli soil and attacking others with antitank missiles, machine guns, even an explosives-laden donkey, apparently undaunted by Israel’s incursion into the Gaza Strip. As the conflict stretched into its 12th day, the militants’ resilience seemed to upend the narrative provided by Israel of a Hamas severely weakened by the Israeli ground offensive, airstrikes, artillery barrages and the ongoing destruction of its tunnel network. In their most audacious attack Saturday, Hamas fighters dressed in Israeli army uniforms slipped from central Gaza into Israel through a tunnel and attacked

Tiger Woods is going to petition to just play the back nine twice each round and skip the front nine altogether. Woods went out on the back nine on Saturday and birdied his first two holes before dropping his second-straight 38 on the front nine with a triple bogey and a double bogey. He´s played the front nine in 7 over this week as opposed to 4 under on the back and now he´s just two clear of 64-year-old Tom Watson and 19 back of leader Rory McIlroy. It has not been pretty. While attending a meeting of the Television Critics Association, reporters asked Mr. Moonves whether he wanted to buy CNN if Fox decides to sell the channel. DENVER--- Three more people in Colorado have been diagnosed with the plague after coming in contact with an infected dog whose owner contracted a life-threatening form of the disease, state health officials said on Friday. Last week the department said a man in an eastern Colorado county whose dog died of the plague had been diagnosed with pneumonic plague, a rare and serious form of the disease. The man remains hospitalized, but authorities have not released his condition. The three people in the latest reported cases had "mild symptoms" and have fully recovered after being treated with antibiotics, the department said, adding

ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. — The Obama administration is reopening the Eastern Seaboard to offshore oil and gas exploration, announcing final approval Friday of sonic cannons that can pinpoint energy deposits deep beneath the ocean floor. The decision promises to create plenty of jobs and thrills the oil industry, but dismays environmentalists worried about the immediate impact as well as the long-term implications of oil development. The cannons fill waters shared by whales and turtles with sound waves 100 times louder than a jet engine. Saving endangered species was the environmental groups´ best hope of extending a ban against offshore drilling off

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-Lawyers for the Florida legislature´s Republican leaders and county elections officers argued on Thursday that a judge who threw out their 2012 congressional redistricting plan could not require that boundaries be redrawn in time for the November elections. But the attorney for the League of Women Voters, which successfully sued the state for illegally favoring incumbents, said it still is possible to fix the boundaries, even though early absentee ballots for the August primary have already been sent out. The brief hearing before Circuit Court Judge Terry Lewis underscored the political uncertainty and logistical quagmire resulting from last week´s

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida’s political landscape is being upended by a landmark legal ruling that one legal expert says could influence the way other states draw their congressional districts. A circuit judge ruled late Thursday that the state Legislature illegally drew Florida’s congressional districts to primarily benefit the Republican Party. Judge Terry Lewis ruled that two of the state’s 27 congressional districts were invalid and that the map must be redrawn. Justin Levitt, a law professor at Loyola Law School who tracks redistricting cases, called the decision a “big victory” for Florida’s voters that could be a model for other states to

In speaking about the shoot down of Malaysian airliner MH 17 earlier that day, Cooper referred back to “July 17, 1996, when TWA Flight 800 was shot down off the coast of Long Island in New York.” (snip)wo days earlier, Cooper hosted a CNN special report on the subject, “Witnessed: The Crash of TWA Flight 800.” To understand the depth of media-government complicity, it is useful to compare “Witnessed” with two prior videos. One is the ironically titled, “No Survivors: Why TWA 800

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy wasn’t out to make news when he addressed the annual conference of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and devoted most of his 50-minute speech to the Magna Carta, which turns 800 years old in 2015. But Kennedy did let on that he doesn’t belong to the school of Constitution-worshipers who base their legal doctrines on what they glean to be the original, literal meaning of every word and phrase in the nation’s founding document.

Do something about the depraved crowd of terrorists who provoked Israel into assaulting the tunnels in which they skulk? Do something about those equally depraved Iraqi terrorists now rounding up and expelling Christians from their midst? Do something about the kidnappers of schoolchildren

Convinced that their region has suffered as much Obama administration meddling as it can possibly stand, Israel and Egypt took the extraordinary step earlier this week of jointly rejecting requests by US Secretary of State John Kerry to involve himself in ceasefire talks with the terrorist group Hamas. Israeli and Egyptian diplomats both claim Egyptian efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas collapsed as a direct result of Secretary Kerry’s announcement he was prepared to join the talks. He apparently made the announcement without first consulting either of the parties. The diplomats are convinced that their own

A pernicious, little-known Obama administration policy – one that that incentivizes adult illegal immigrants to use children as human shields to escape arrest and deportation at the border – largely has escaped the media’s notice. This same policy is driving the historic surge of children at the border, as everyone from coyotes to illegal immigrant adults already in America seeks to use children to guarantee their safe passage into the country, or to protect them from deportation if they are illegally living here. The flood of illegal immigrant children, piling up like human debris on the US border, won’t stop

They contribute to the overall well-being of the country like everybody else. WASHINGTON —Polarization and partisanship are a plague on American politics. Political scientists have found that the two parties have each grown more ideologically homogeneous since the 1970s. The Senate hasn’t been so polarized since Reconstruction; the House has not been so divided since around 1900. As measured by laws passed, the current Congress is on track to be among the least productive in our republic’s history. How did this happen? One of the main causes has not gotten enough attention: the party primary system. The reasons behind the shocking primary defeat last month of Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia, who
