CARSON CITY, Nev.— Nearly 49,000 Nevada residents have taken written tests since January to obtain state driver authorization cards, and just under 16,400 people have gotten the documents as of June 11, state Department of Motor Vehicles officials said Monday. The cards are available under a new law that made Nevada the 11th state to offer driving privileges to people in the country illegally. Backers say the cards allow immigrants to take a driving test, get insurance and drive legally. Almost 6,700 people have been given authorization card instruction permits, putting the number of people eligible to drive with motorist

I bet that these 49,000 new registered drivers will be voting in the 2014 elections.

Clinton´s Motor Voter law strikes again.

If the Republicans can ever retake the presidency and both houses of Congress simultaneously, the voter rolls of all fifty states should be thrown into the trash, and every eligible citizen, with vault copy of birth certificate or naturalization papers in hand, should be given one year re-enroll in person as voters and be furnished a national voter´s card with picture and other identification information embedded. There´s no reason why cheating should ever happen. It could be prevented, or at least its incidence lowered to insignificant levels. The penalties for voter fraud should be draconian: permanenty disenfranchisement, jail time, heavy fines. Absentee voting (or voting by mail) should be eliminated, except for overseas military and diplomats. It should be impossible to vote multiple times if the whole process is electronic. I´m a libertarian, with limits. Fighting voter fraud is one of the exceptions. If we made a concerted effort to stop it, that could be done.

The Democrats will holler because they know they´re the beneficiaries of 98+% of voter fraud. I would bet that over 10% of votes nationwide are fraudulent. No other free country would stand for rampant cheating in elections. Why should we?

President Barack Obama said the power of conservative opposition, including in the media, is blocking his agenda in an interview with New York Times columnist Tom Friedman late last week. “What you’ve seen with our politics, partly because of gerrymandering, partly because of the Balkanization of media so people just watch what reinforces their deepest biases, partly because of big money in politics, is increasingly politicians are rewarded for taking the most extreme, maximalist positions,” Obama told the liberal Times columnist. “Sooner or later, that catches up with you. FERGUSON - A day of protests and vigils Sunday for an unarmed black teenager who was shot to death by a Ferguson police officer erupted Sunday night with confrontations, looting and gunshots. Authorities said Sunday that a police officer shot an unarmed black teenager after the teen attacked the Ferguson officer. But pressure for a deeper explanation grew locally and nationally through the day. Hundreds of people gathered at the shooting site Sunday night for a vigil for Michael Brown, 18, who was to begin technical school classes today. While some people prayed, others spilled onto West Florissant Avenue, choking

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s military plan to halt ISIS advances with limited air strikes and relief drops to besieged minorities trapped in mountain camps came under fire from left and right Sunday – and even Hillary Clinton took a shot at his foreign policy. “Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle,” said Clinton, who served as Obama’s first secretary of state. She made the comment to The Atlantic in response to a question about one of the administration’s blunt mantras to observe caution – an approach critics say has led to disengagement

In the absence of that political solution, however, American airpower must ensure that pro-Western elements in the Kurdish and Shiite areas of Iraq do not fall to the Sunni fundamentalist militia.“In the absence of an Iraqi

CHILMARK -- To the infinity pool and beyond! When President Barack Obama arrives for his fifth summer vacation on Martha´s Vineyard today, he may just want to chill out for a bit at his swanky new rental. The Obamas will unwind at a nearly $12 million property that features a seven-bedroom house along Vineyard Sound. The home, on Gosnold´s Way, is in a more secluded spot than the South Road house the first family rented last year, a location that caused traffic headaches. This summer´s 8,100-square-foot rental home has sweeping views of the Elizabeth Islands, a combination basketball and tennis

For me, watching the Food Network was always an easy escape from the stresses of daily life. There was just something calming about watching chefs in action, and this network had perfected Zen cooking. They’d often use a natural-light filter that made food appear delectable, as if the chefs were blissfully cooking their culinary delights in the sunlit designer kitchen of a tastefully decorated, impeccable home somewhere in the Hamptons. (Well, with Ina Garten, that actually is the case.) I’ve never been anywhere near a sunlit designer kitchen in the Hamptons, but I still found it all oddly soothing. I’d

Barack Obama deliberately set out to lose the war in Iraq, and he did. He defied the advice of his joint chiefs of staff to secure America’s formidable military presence and keep 20,000 troops in country, and left Iraq to its own devices and the tender mercies of Iran. In doing so, he betrayed every American and Iraqi who gave his life to create a free Iraq and keep it out of the clutches of the terrorists. Iraq is now a war zone dominated by the terrorist forces of the Islamic State, whose rise Obama’s policies fostered. Both his secretaries

Peace has to start with Israeli and Palestinians leaders, namely Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, US President Barack Obama told the New York Times´ Foreign Affairs columnist Thomas Friedman. [Snip] Obama worried that Netanyahu´s high approval ratings--which have jumped in recent weeks in the wake of Israel´s month-long operation in Gaza--could prevent him from making the difficult concessions needed to reach a long-term deal: "If he doesn’t feel some internal pressure, then it’s hard to see him being able to make some very difficult compromises," like the issue of settlements, the president said.

President Obama gave Thomas Friedman an hour long interview before heading off on vacation to Martha’s Vineyard. Within the interview the failure of a cohesive Obama foreign policy shines through despite the attempted cover from liberal reporters.
