Justice Ginsburg’s Eight Worst
Lines on Hobby Lobby

National Review, by Ramesh Ponnuru

Original Article

Mother Jones’s list of the “eight best lines” from her dissent seems to be pretty popular on the Left, judging from social media. They may indeed be her best lines, but they’re not very good. Others (such as Jonathan Keim) have already tackled some of them, but here they are in the same order MJ presents them. (snip)3) ”Religious organizations exist to foster the interests of persons subscribing to the same religious faith. Not so of for-profit corporations. Workers who sustain the operations of those corporations commonly are not drawn from one religious community.” This claim is obviously false. Many,

Even at the HL hearing - when I read the transcript, I wondered if she had any idea of what actually is the issue and what free exercise of religion means. After reading her opinion - I still wonder.

I just pray she keeps breathing and stays on the bench until our "Constitutional Law Professor" president is out of office.
As bad as Ginsburg is, 0bama will find a replacement appointee even worse who could be there a very long time.

I agree with #1. We don´t need any more "wise" Latinas who are so smart they don´t need to follow the law.

Dr. George has been called by The New York Times the most influential conservative Christian thinker in the United States. The petition is available on IraqRescue.org and features the signatures of prominent intellectuals, academics, and subject matter experts – individuals such as Dr. Russell Moore, President of the Ethics and Liberty Commission, and Benjamin Carson, M.D., Emeritus Professor of Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins. Stand by for a new acronym for the ISIS/ISIL terrorist group causing havoc across Syria and Iraq. One of the Arab world’s top Sunni authorities launched a campaign Sunday urging media to drop all names for the group that incorporate the word “Islamic,” in favor of “al-Qaeda separatists in Iraq and Syria” (QSIS). Dar al-Iftaa (“the House of Fatwas”) in Cairo, headed by Egyptian grand mufti Shawki Ibrahim Allam, has launched an Internet-based campaign aimed at distancing Islam from the group known variously as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham, or simply Islamic

Both the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have said that there are no credible threats to the United States from the Islamic State terror group, according to an intelligence memo issued to both state and local authorities, the AP reported. However, the Joint Intelligence Bulletin from the FBI and DHS encouraged citizens to “remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local police or the FBI.” The statement said that officials are working “around the clock with our partners in the law enforcement community to share and assess information.” U.S. Secretary of

A very useful YouGov poll that tracks public sentiment about Ferguson over time shows that despite the 24/7 racial demagoguery from cable news network´s like CNN and MSNBC, public opinion is moving in the exact opposite direction of what the media is aiming for. Between August 14-17 a plurality of only 45% believed Ferguson residents reacted unreasonably following the shooting of Michael Brown. Four days later that number jumped to a clear majority of 56%. Those that consider the resident reaction reasonable only increased from 25% to 27%. Despite a week of heavy and heavily biased reporting, support for the

Files scheduled to be released from Clinton White House records will show his efforts to shackle militias and set up a "strict licensing system" for paramilitary groups, Politico reports. In other words, gun control was to be complemented--and in places, supplemented--by people control. According to Politico, the release is certain to raise the ire of citizens already concerned about "enhancing government surveillance powers and regulating armed groups of U.S. citizens." Upon release, the files are expected to show that Clinton´s plans ran into trouble when his own attorneys "feared that some of the proposals could violate the Constitution." The files

Today´s news of a coming bloodbath at CNN and HLN is a reminder that while CNN has been able to use the unrest in Ferguson to race-bait its way to better ratings, everyone knows that´s temporary. Without something that allows the left-wing network to appeal to the lowest common denominator, CNN is almost certain to fall back into the ratings basement until something else comes along for the network to cynically exploit. So here come the layoffs and buyouts. In the headline, The Wrap describes these layoffs as "imminent´: Some 550 buyouts are to be offered at Time Warner´s Turner

A U.S. offensive in Syria against the radical Islamist group that beheaded an American journalist would likely be constrained by persistent intelligence gaps and an inability to rely on fleets of armed drones that have served as the Obama administration’s signature weapon against terrorist networks elsewhere, U.S. officials said. The Pentagon has conducted daily surveillance flights along Iraq’s border with Syria in recent weeks as part of a push to bolster U.S. intelligence on the Islamic State without crossing into Syrian airspace and risking the loss of aircraft to that nation’s air defenses, officials said. The CIA has also expanded

Sometimes a round of golf is just a round of golf. And sometimes it reveals the essence of a man. President Obama’s decision to hit the links and yuk it up with pals immediately after speaking about the beheading of James Foley was no ordinary mistake. Nor was it a simple gaffe. The decision continues to cause an uproar because, like an X-ray, there is no escaping the image. It shows there is no there there. With even his media praetorian guard appalled, the golf outing is sparking a wider understanding that Obama is hollow, empty of the routine qualities Americans expect from

We learn this from Jim Downey, the longtime “Saturday Night Live” specialist in political japery. “If I had to describe Obama as a comedy project, I would say, ‘Degree of difficulty, 10 point 10,’” the writer says in the expanded new edition of the “SNL” oral history book, “Live from New York.” “It’s like being a rock climber looking up at a thousand-foot-high face of solid obsidian, polished and oiled,” Downey says. “There’s not a single thing to grab

Back in 1968, when I was 30, my entire life blew up. I had a life plan and it collapsed for no rational reason. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has said that he would not recommend U.S. military airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Syria until he determines that they have become a direct threat to the U.S. Gen. Martin Dempsey, speaking to reporters on board a military plane traveling to Afghanistan, said Sunday that he believes the Sunni insurgent group formerly known as ISIS is more of a regional threat and is not currently plotting or planning attacks against the U.S. or Europe. ISIS has repeatedly made threats to attack the U.S. through social and conventional media. Earlier this month, in a

FERGUSON, Mo. — It was 1 a.m. and Michael Brown Jr. called his father, his voice trembling. He had seen something overpowering. In the thick gray clouds that lingered from a passing storm this past June, he made out an angel. And he saw Satan chasing the angel and the angel running into the face of God. Mr. Brown was a prankster, so his father and stepmother chuckled at first. “No, no, Dad! Democrat Michelle Nunn is running ahead of David Perdue in the race for the U.S. Senate in Georgia. The WSB-TV poll found that Mrs. Nunn has 47 percent to 40 percent edge over Mr. Perdue. The libertarian candidate, Amanda Swafford, received 3 percent, and 10 percent of the respondents were undecided. The winner of the race will replace retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss. Mrs. Nunn, the daughter of former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn, is seen as one of Democrats best bets to flip control of a GOP-held seat. Republicans need to flip six seats to win back the Senate.

America has a deficit of workers. Willing workers. Capable workers. Skilled, or at least semi-skilled workers, who can do a job and do it well. There are at least one million jobs that go begging day after day if only employers could find workers to fill them. This probably seems hard-to-believe. After all, how can America have a worker shortage when we have about 18 million Americans who are unemployed or underemployed? When the real unemployment rate is 12 percent? (Snip) But there are also millions of unemployed Americans who don’t have the skill sets to match what employers are in need
