NORWALK -- Police say an all-out brawl occurred on the Island Belle early Sunday while hosting the "Rock Da Boat" summer cruise. At approximately 4 a.m., a frantic phone call was placed to the Norwalk Police Department from a woman who had locked herself in a bathroom in fear of dozens of people fighting on the boat. Officers rushed over to Veteran´s Park, where they found the vessel as it was docking at the city boat launch. As it got closer, officers say they could see a rowdy fight on the lower level of the boat, with patrons screaming and

As people disembarked from the boat, officers said many continued to drink beer from the vessel as they carried on arguing with each other...approximately 300 people fighting and milling about the parking lot...

So was anyone arrested? Article doesn´t say.

Why should the cops bother to show up if no offenders are arrested. That´s why I quit public events many many years ago. The culture has stooped so low that all bad behavior is condoned.

Perhaps they were remembering their dear Paul Wellstone or someone and were just having a small memorial get-together when they ran out of beer.

Some people´s idea of a ´party´ is to get drunk and high, have sex with some stranger (either sex), cheat and steal, and get into fights all night long. No thanks. At least nobody was killed (this time).

This kind of environment is actually quite dangerous, but that is largely lost on the participants. The community is somewhat oblivious since the activities occur at night. In the community where I grew up, there was a curfew to warn law abiding citizens to stay off the streets. The police cannot control it since the ´revelers´ number in the hundreds. Some of them are probably armed.

House Republicans were scrambling Tuesday night to determine the fallout on their leadership team and governing agenda after House Majority Leader Eric Cantor was ousted in his GOP primary in Virginia´s 7th district. “I don´t know” was the most common refrain among shocked Republican members, senior House aides and GOP operatives when asked to assess the impact of Cantor´s defeat. The Virginian, the only Jewish Republican in Congress, was widely viewed as the heir apparent to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and for most of his political career was considered at the forefront of the more conservative party the GOP

Elliot Rodger often complained on his YouTube videos that his life wasn´t fair. But, his own social media presence reveals that the son of Hunger Games assistant director Peter Rodger lived a life of privilege. He posted several videos and pictures behind the wheel of his black BMW 328i, a luxury coupe with a starting price tag of nearly $40,000. Rodger, who is believed to have killed six people in Santa Barbara on Friday night because he frustrated that he was still a virgin at age 22, posted a YouTube video of his flight home from a vacation to Britain

“The original target of slut-shaming.” That’s what some young feminists now call Monica Lewinsky, who was shamed beginning when these women were in grade school and is still shamed today. That’s an important part of Lewinsky’s long Vanity Fair essay, out Tuesday. She’s indeed been “slut -shamed” nonstop since 1998.
Lewinsky details it painfully. Feminists who should have supported her then did not, and few do today. Lewinsky writes about that awful lapse as well. Certainly she’s not to be defended as “the other woman” but as the victim of
vicious, sexist attacks. Tubby, trampy, nutty, slutty, crazy, predatory, a veteran of summer

If lawmakers in Springfield thought they maneuvered beyond the treacherous topic of pension reform with their December votes to begin rescuing the state´s floundering pension system, they thought wrong. Chicago, with its enormously underfunded pension plans, is next in line. Three years into his mayoral term — after campaigning on a promise to fix pensions — Rahm Emanuel finally is ready to file legislation that would reduce the city´s dangerously unfunded pension liabilities for municipal workers and laborers. Emanuel says he has a deal with those employees´ unions that would bring two of the city´s four funds for retirees closer

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

President Obama on Thursday claimed he is “not that partisan of a guy” as he mocked calls in the Republican Party for his impeachment. The president spent much of his address in Austin, Texas, hammering congressional Republicans, saying they have "blocked or voted down every serious idea to strengthen the middle class." “I’m just telling the truth now," Obama said. "I don´t have to run for office again so I can just let her rip.” He teed off on Republicans such as Sarah Palin who have suggested in recent days that he be impeached, and dismissed Speaker John Boehner´s (R-Ohio) proposed lawsuit

So just who is in charge in Barack Obama´s White House? ABC´s Jonathan Karl on Tuesday asked White House press secretary why the letter from the White House to Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) inviting him to a meeting with President Obama regarding the Texas border crisis was from Valerie Jarrett. While it´s routine for staff to draft such letters for elected officials, matters of such magnitude and to other elected officials of stature are almost always in the name of the principle. The president´s spokesman, when asked why the letter was from Jarrett rather than the President, said "Valerie spends a

Barack Obama may have lost a few approval rating points with this move. The president was seen cutting the line at Austin´s Franklin Barbecue Thursday afternoon, while in town to raise money for the Democratic Party. Lives at the eatery are infamously long, and have been known to stretch as long as three hours wait. But Mr Obama did no waiting today, as he showed up at the restaurant, shook a few hands and made his way straight to the register to order more than $300 worth of meat. ´I know this is a long line. President Obama’s ultimate weakness may be that he believes his own blarney. A year ago, Mr. Obama boasted in a “fireside” Web chat that his “is the most transparent administration in history.” There was not the slightest hint of irony. He may actually believe it. But three-dozen organizations representing newspapermen and other journalists, mostly liberals, beg to differ. In a testy letter to the president on Tuesday, the group decried the “slick non-answers” and cold shoulders they’re getting from Mr. Obama’s representatives, who have restricted access to any information they consider embarrassing to the administration. “The stifling of free expression,” the signers

President Barack Obama does not believe his temporary amnesty program for illegal immigrant children has exacerbated the border crisis even though the number of illegal immigrant kids crossing the border spiked the year after he unilaterally enacted the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2012. In fact, Obama thinks programs like DACA and a comprehensive amnesty bill are ways to solve the border crisis. Addressing the press Wednesday after meeting with Texas Governor Rick Perry to discuss the border crisis in Dallas, Obama, when asked if programs like DACA have caused or contributed to the crisis,

Bears, beer and horse heads: What exactly is going on with the leader of the free world? On a single day this week in Denver, President Obama scarfed down pizza and drinks with strangers, shot pool with Colorado’s governor and shook hands with a guy on the street wearing a horse mask. His top staffers are promoting these stops on Twitter with the hashtag #TheBearIsLoose — a term one of Obama’s aides coined in 2008 when the candidate would defy his schedule. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee in 2008, is advocating the impeachment of President Barack Obama. “It’s time to impeach,” she wrote, “and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment.” I am a pretty fierce critic of the president myself, but let me be among the first to say that Republicans would be insane to follow Ms. Palin’s counsel.
