New House Majority Leader:
Border Security, Then Legalization

National Review Online, by Joel Gehrke

Original Article

Kevin McCarthy, the California Republican who replaced Virginia representative Eric Cantor as House majority leader this month, said that there is an “opportunity” to negotiate for the legalization of illegal immigrants, but only after the border is secured. “I believe there’s an opportunity,” he said on Fox News Sunday. “But if you don’t secure the borders, there’s nothing.” McCarthy seemed determine not to repeat Cantor’s mistake of appearing out of step with the Republican base on immigration. “I’m on record saying nothing about immigration, until we secure the borders,” McCarthy said. “Until you secure the borders, you cannot have

Comments:
Where is this "leader" who should be railing against this outrageous flow of illegals continuing into this country? He just mentions the humanitarian crisis that is happening right now along the borders. Is that the best he can do? I just cannot believe the Republicans are absolutely silent about this absolute catastrophe.

No, border security and then deportation. These future gang members and welfare criminals are also bringing lots of diseases.

I do not trust the GOP at any level. However, if McCarthy sticks to his guns on border security first, he will soon discover that there will be no common ground with this democratic counterparts.

This should be a teachable moment for the GOP leadership - if they even care.

NO ! secure the border, then send them back to apply the legal way. I don´t care HOW long it takes. NO free stuff and 1/2 of them will self deport.
Does anyone in Washington KNOW how angry citizens are when illegals make DEMANDS on our government? Resentment is building daily as politicians give them more and more of OUR resources.

I don´t know about "Republicans", OP, but our Texas GOP legislators and state government are screaming about this. You didn´t see coverage of Senators Cornyn and Cruz making several separate speeches and interviews? Rick Perry has allocated additional millions of our Texas dollars to assist along the border. Remember, however, the feds are in charge of an international border.

There is no way that the borderline can be made secure when there is a very liberal President, like Obama, in the White House, who is on a mission to flood the USA with poor and uneducated illegal aliens who he believes will eventually become socialist oriented Democrat voters in the years ahead to transform the USA into some sort of socialist utopia.

In short the politicians can hire many thousands more border patrol agents and build security fences all over the borderline, but as long as illegal aliens know that once they unlawfully cross the borderline, and enter the USA, that Obama who wants to give each illegal alien a "free" lawyer, will allow them to stay. Using young illegal aliens to start this mounting silent invasion of the USA is a cynical play on the sympathies of Americans who are generally not familiar with the complicated and esoteric immigration laws. There is no way that tens of thousands of young illegal aliens could travel across Mexico to the borderline without a lot of assistance from adults in their home countries, in Mexico, and in the USA.

Clearly Obama in the future will find every way that he can to avoid effectively enforcing the immigration laws and any Republican politicians who can´t figure that out are political morons. If you take what this new Republican majority leader said as being truthfully the Republican position, there will not be an amnesty anytime soon.

Why can´t we just enforce the laws already on the books? If McCarthy does what he recently said he will do--close the border first--we can then discuss what happens next. If this is just political rhetoric, I will be sorely disappointed, again, in the republican party. Why is this so difficult? Yes, it costs money but a lot less money to seal the border than pay for supporting thousands of illegals. If and when we get to the legalization status, no voting rights for anyone who cannot prove they crossed through the border according to US law!

Not even going to read it. House Republicans are setting themselves up to get rolled ... again... but only for the sake of appearance. It´s all an act. Some well scripted political theater. They are really just preparing to put a nice layer of border security frosting on the Cheap Foreign Labor Amnesty Cake they are baking for their Chamber of Commerce pals. The democrats will ultimately agree to border security first, the Republicans will declare victory, amnesty will pass, Obama will sign it, and after some time futzing around, during which Obama will funnel BILLIONS of dollars to some of HIS pals and get nothing to show for it, Obama will declare the border secure and begin passing out amnesty stay-in-the-US for free cards. Isn´t the New American Fascism wonderful? Runs like a finely tuned watch.

Border security is absolutely necessary. But it is, by itself, insufficient. What is also necessary and vital is vigorous interior enforcement.
And please stop blaming Obumble.
How long did Aunt Zeituni live, illegally, in the US? Twenty years? More? And sponging off the taxpayers the entire time. But W and his cronies would not and did not deport that aging harridan. Obumble´s drunken uncle, an illegal alien, STILL sucks up good oxygen the this country, despite a criminal history in this country. Been doing it long before Obumble stunk up D.C.
I´ve seen illegal aliens all over the place in Dalton, Georgia. Knoxville, Tennessee. Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sharon, Pennsylvania. Canton, Ohio. Fort Smith and Van Buren, Arkansas. Olathe, Kansas. Cleveland, Ohio. Montgomery, Alabama. Dallas and Austin, Texas. Texarkana area. And that´s just in the last three years.
Deport them all!! And do it today. This business of long hearings is aromatic bovine fertilizer. Determination of citizenship and status should not take more than an hour. If illegal, put them on a bus immediately, with nothing but the clothes on their backs. And get them out of here now.
Unless and until that policy is in place and rigorously followed, all else is mere posturing. And this peasant ain´t tugging his forelock one more time, no matter whether the aristo´s are wearing a (D) jersey or an (R) jersey. A pox upon the lot of them!

On July 3, when Americans were preparing to celebrate freedom, the Obama administration reduced freedom by adding 1,296 pages of regulations to ObamaCare. The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border.
