Republicans briefly flirt with success

I should have known it was too good to be true. For a brief, shining moment it appeared as though the Montana Republican Party was standing up to be counted. At the party’s state convention in Billings last weekend, delegates voted overwhelmingly against continuing to allow nonparty members to vote in their primary elections. Whoa! That would be revolutionary! In order to help select Republican candidates, you would actually have to declare you were a Republican! Outrageous, said the Democrats! We often don’t have anyone to vote for in our own primaries, and we don’t want to be deprived of the opportunity to

Utah switched to open primaries this year. Millionaires and billionaires thought Bob Bennett´s Senate seat was guaranteed for life and barring that, under no circumstances whould conservatives have a voice and elect someone like Mike Lee. Mitt Romney´s enthusiastic support for the measure was greatly appreciated by millionaires, billionaires, the media, and democrats. For the GOP Establishment, primaries are general elections.

Idaho shut out many conservative voters in 2012 with their closed primary -- then held a another meeting to nominate their presidential candidate that kept the GOP from voting due to a short hour of decision to allow participation. Plus the building used was too small to allow large number to attend.
The dems invited locked voters them to vote their open primary.
2014 primary --many like this Independent conservative registered to have a voice because too many far out faction members were running. The next day
I nullified that registration.
The Independent ratio is high enough to upset both factions if we so choose.
The GOP will receive no more donations from this conservative for attempting to
disenfranchise an Independent conservative. .

Last week my wife and I previewed a new movie produced by local superstar producer Jerry Molen and director Dinesh D´Souza entitled "America: Imagine the World Without Her." The two had previously produced and directed "2016: Obama´s America," a film critical of Obama and revealing of his radicalized personal history. So what is the purpose of their latest outstanding production, "America"? In piercing interviews and stock film footage of some of the most radical progressives (the likes of Noam Chomsky, Saul Alinsky and Ward Churchill) Mr. D´Souza presents five complaints against America

There is a name for what the government did to the Washington Redskins last week. It is called extortion. Extortion, as defined by Merriam-Webster’s, is the crime of getting money from someone by the use of force or threats. I much prefer the definition in the 1828 dictionary compiled by Noah Webster himself: “The act or practice of wresting any thing from a person by force, duress, menaces, authority, or by any undue exercise.” You probably heard the story about how the U.S. Office of Patents and Trademarks has canceled the Redskins’ trademark on the team name because the team’s

All right-minded people hate discrimination. It’s too bad we no longer know what that is. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, one of the most recent government agencies created by Congress in homage to the oppressive world of “Atlas Shrugged,” was in the news last month because it announced (in showy communist self-criticism fashion) that it had been guilty of massive discrimination against its own employees. What the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau really does is anyone’s guess. In essence, it shakes down banks and other lenders and financial companies in an effort to keep the 1 percent on their toes and let

One of the many signs of the imminent collapse of the United States is that we can’t even agree on the meaning of treason any more. [SNIP] Because now we have a country that doesn’t heap calumny upon the head of a traitor, but rather looks to lionize him, reward him and turn him into a culture hero. I am speaking, of course, of Edward Snowden — a criminal who makes Benedict Arnold look like a rank amateur when it comes to treason.

As we celebrate the ultimate sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of Americans who died in the defense of liberty, perhaps it is fitting that we pause for a moment of silence to contemplate the imminent loss of the Constitution which they had sworn to uphold. Some would say that the Constitution has already been twisted beyond recognition by activist judges, congressional chicanery and tyrannical presidents [SNIP] But there is one manipulation of the Constitution underway now which is so destructive to our republic that it makes almost everything else which has come before it seem like child’s play. The fact that

What if everything you know is fake? That is a premise that was repeatedly explored by author Philip K. Dick in his science fiction novels. Some of his stories have been made into popular films such as “Total Recall,” where a blue collar worker in the far future doesn’t know whether he is really a secret agent or just pretending to be one [SNIP] I suppose we should not be surprised that so many people prefer to hang on to their illusions about how America works than to admit that so much of what they know just isn’t so, as

Is it just me, or has the culture war between right and left been escalating wildly over the past few months?Everywhere you turn, there is another leftist assault on traditional values, as well as the occasional volley fired back by the retreating forces of Christianity and sanity. This is not a fight about religion; it is a fight about freedom — and believe it or not, the Judeo-Christian tradition provides the philosophical underpinnings of Western culture [SNIP] Or, at least, it did. Now, however, we are seeing the fundamental transformation of Western culture and even Christianity itself into a monolithic,

It’s about time. Six hundred days, to be exact. That’s how much time has passed since Sept. 11, 2012, when the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were murdered in Benghazi by al-Qaida terrorists. And finally, on Friday, Speaker of the House John Boehner did what millions of Americans have been calling for since before the 2012 election — appoint a select committee to investigate Benghazi and to bring the truth to the American public. Of course, the truth would have gone down a lot easier 600 days ago. Instead, we have had 600 days of coverup and obfuscation from the White House, the

The last few weeks I’ve explored ways in which liberals have worked to undermine conservatives in the American political scene. This week, let’s look at one typical instance of so-called conservatives shooting themselves in the foot. Examples of this abound, and you will forgive me if I don’t make a laundry list of all the ways in which Republicans are played for suckers by Democrats. That would be too painful. Instead, let’s just look at the virtual surrender of traditional values expressed by Speaker of the House John Boehner last week while campaigning in his home district in Ohio. The headline in

You can call it a symbol or you can call it a coincidence, but I had a phone call on Good Friday which gave me a perfect column for this Easter Sunday. Kalispell area resident Philip Klevmoen was calling from East Texas to let me know about a news story he was involved in down there in the little town of Hemphill. Philip is the gentle giant who is responsible for spreading the word of God in the form of the Ten Commandments [Snip] Some people don’t like Philip — or at least they don’t like his message. So it’s not unusual for Philip to hear from people who want him to tear down his billboards, or threaten to do so themselves.

I should say liberal politicians, because so far as I can tell, the only purpose of this campaign was for liberal

A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say. In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. I have agreed to not to disclose their identities because they fear retaliation and prosecution.

A crowd of 300 angry protestors forced three buses carrying 140 undocumented migrant children and their parents to turn around in Murrieta, California, on Tuesday after they blocked the road. The dramatic confrontation between the flag waving protestors and the Homeland Security buses came one day after Mayor Alan Long urged residents to resist the federal government´s plan to transfer the Central American migrants to California to ease overcrowding of facilities along the Texas-Mexico border. Holding up banners that said ´Return to Sender´ and suggesting the children should be sent to the White House instead, the irate protestors succeeded when the buses

WASHINGTON – Republicans see the November midterm elections as an opportunity to take the nation on a different path and call for a new conservative message focusing on the problems of regular Americans. During the latest convention of conservative activist Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition in Washington, D.C., Republicans confidently proclaimed that the GOP has an opportunity to turn back the past six years of President Obama’s administration in the midterm elections. “There’s only one thing to be done in 2014…and that is to take back America by taking back the Senate,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said

Two Texans may be vying for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016: Sen. Ted Cruz and Governor Rick Perry. Cruz overwhelmingly won the Texas GOP 2016 convention straw poll, confirming his position as the conservative grassroots candidate. He fires up crowds unlike any other politician today, and the power of motivating voters and volunteers should not be underestimated. But will he run in 2016? The signs point to yes. One of his staffers left his office to start a committee to draft him into running. He has visited the early states and spent many weekends during his first 18 months in office raising

The threat of them was an infuriating and exhilarating specter throughout the weekend, a symbol of the oppression facing the men’s rights activists who had gathered to meet for their inaugural conference. Reverend Steve Fielder, a pastor at the First Union Missionary Baptist Church in Meridian, Mississippi, has accused Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran’s campaign of engaging in an illegal and criminal campaign scheme to purchase the votes of black community members. The suspect votes were cast during Cochran’s successful effort to defeat Tea Party challenger Chris McDaniel in the Mississippi Republican primary run-off held last week. If true, such an action would be clearly illegal under both federal law and Mississippi statutes, specifically MS Code 97-13-1; MS Code 97-13-3 (2013) (Federal Code 18 U.S.C. 597, U.S.C. 1973i(c)), each punishable by a prison
