As a result of recent lawsuits against the town, police officers will soon be wearing body cameras while out on patrol. “Yes, of course it’s because of recent lawsuits settled,” Weare Police Chief John D. Velleca said Thursday. (Snip) Two cases settled this month include a $57,500 lawsuit brought by Carla Gericke, president of the Free State Project, who was arrested in March 2010 for videotaping officers during a traffic stop, and a $300,000 settlement for the August 2013 killing of Alex Cora deJesus of Manchester during an undercover drug deal gone bad.

Granite Staters are repeatedly told — by Democratic politicians and the activist left — that voter fraud is a “myth” and that the only effect of voter ID laws is to “suppress” the vote. They repeat that spin even as instances of actual fraud pile up. (Snip) He was everything the Republicans had warned about: a Massachusetts voter traveling to New Hampshire to vote illegally in the hope of changing the outcome of our elections. Schneider said he voted here because he figured his vote would count here, but would not count back home in Massachusetts.

A Massachusetts gun store owner says it’s “too late” for a bank to mend a relationship that it broke. Mark Cohen, who owns Powderhorn Outfitters, a Hyannis, Mass. gun retailer, said that his longtime bank, TD Bank, refused to extend a line of credit because of the business he is in. (Snip) Cohen believes that TD Bank didn’t want to do business with his gun store because of a government initiative called Operation Choke Point. Operated under a cloud of secrecy by the Department of Justice and in coordination with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Operation Choke Point forces banks

Suppose that an authoritarian government decides to embark on a program of curricular reform, with the explicit goal of indoctrinating the nation’s high school students. Suppose that it wants to change the curriculum to teach students that their government is good and trustworthy, that their system is democratic and committed to the rule of law, and that free markets are a big problem.

Engine maker Pratt & Whitney is leaving Southern California, which will eliminate 530 jobs as defense spending contracts and the company consolidates its operations. The defense contractor announced Thursday that it plans to close its AeroPower facility in San Diego over the next two years (snip) AeroPower´s military business will move to Pratt & Whitney´s Military Engines organization. The company is considering relocating operations to existing facilities in Florida, Georgia and Texas.

Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) lost his “assault weapons” jobs. Remington Outdoor Company (ROC) announced it’s moving its Bushmaster rifle and Remington Model 1911 pistol production lines from its nearly 200-year-old plant in Ilion, New York, to its new facility in much more gun-rights-friendly Huntsville, Alabama. (Snip) Remington’s plant in New York State has been on shaky ground ever since the state passed the SAFE Act, a massive gun-control bill that bans the sale of an expansive list of what it deems “assault weapons,” including the AR-15s made by ROC in Ilion.

When police confronted Tamerlan Tsarnaev four nights after the Boston Marathon bombing last year, he leaped from his car with a 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol and opened fire. He critically wounded one officer and, despite being shot himself, kept firing until the gun emptied or jammed. (Snip) Its journey from a street gang that peddled crack cocaine in Portland, Maine, to the grisly shootout in a Boston suburb tells much about illicit drug and gun trafficking in New England, and perhaps more about Tsarnaev. Authorities believe Tsarnaev's ties to the illicit drug trade in Maine helped finance his six-month trip to the southern Russian

Among Obamacare´s myriad negative effects on small businesses could be this: shorter ski seasons in New Hampshire. At a forum on the Affordable Care Act held last week, Greg Goddard, general manager of Gunstock Ski Resort, said the resort might shorten its season because it cannot afford to offer health insurance to its full-time seasonal employees who work for more than 120 consecutive days, as the law requires. "We may not be able to open beyond 120 days; it may be Christmas to the middle of March ... the summer season may be the fourth of July until Labor Day,"

Walter Havenstein of Alton is running for the Republican nomination for governor. Democrats claim he is ineligible because although he has lived in New Hampshire since 1999 and maintained his legal domicile here all that time, he also was a legal resident of Maryland from 2008-2011. The New Hampshire Constitution states that the governor “shall have been an inhabitant of this state for 7 years next preceding.” (Snip) Because of the Democrats’ insistence that “domicile” be kept strictly separate from “residency,” Havenstein has been a legally domiciled inhabitant of New Hampshire since 1999.

Sanitary-minded pool-goers who preach "no peeing in the pool," despite ordinary and Olympic swimmers admitting to the practice, now have scientific evidence to back up their concern. Researchers are reporting that when mixed, urine and chlorine can form substances that can cause potential health problems. Their study appears in ACS´ journal Environmental Science & Technology. (Snip) They conclude that swimmers can improve pool conditions by simply urinating where they´re supposed to -- in the bathrooms.

Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana recently told a Nashua, N.H., audience about his experience with a school bully. Bullying is a nationwide problem, but the bully Jindal was describing was U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who recently tried to crush school choice in Louisiana. Last Monday, March 17, parents in New York City who send their children to Success Academy, a Harlem charter school, filed suit in federal court to stop another school bully, Mayor Bill de Blasio, from denying them previously arranged space in a public school building.

A charter plane believed to be carrying immigrants arrived this evening at San Diego’s Lindbergh Field, apparently from Texas. Three Homeland Security buses arrived a few minutes later, trailed by numerous law enforcement vehicles. There is no information as to the buses´ destination. Earlier this week, federal officials said that 140 immigrants who had been detained crossing the border in Texas would arrive Friday. But since the blockade by protesters Tuesday at Murrieta, officials have declined to provide information about the movement of the immigrants.

The Obamas have spent over 44 million dollars in taxpayer money on travel and vacations. Some are even calling him the “most well-trvaeled, expensive” president in our nation’s history. As Americans head off for the long holiday weekend, let’s take a look back at some of the president’s holiday spending. Our president vacations a lot — we’re talking $44,351,777.12 worth of “a lot,” with most expenses charged to the American taxpayer. As of March 2014, Obama has spent more time traveling internationally than any other president, taking 31 trips since assuming office in 2009. The 119 days spent overseas have

It is a heartwarming tale about how the mainstream media and Democratic Party suckered America into electing their extreme far-left dream president – a Trojan Horse in the form of a black man.

President Obama has quietly promised Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren complete support if she runs for president — a stinging rebuke to his nemesis Hillary Clinton, sources tell me. Publicly, Obama has remained noncommittal on the 2016 race, but privately he worries that Clinton would undo and undermine many of his policies. There’s also a personal animosity, especially with Bill Clinton, that dates from their tough race six years ago. A former Harvard law professor and administration aide, Warren would energize the left wing of the Democrat Party just as Obama did against Clinton in 2008. Thanks to her outspoken stand against big banks

For some time now, Elizabeth Foley and David Rivkin have had two questions about the 44th president: “How is he getting away with this? When the German botanist Philipp von Siebold sent a variety of plant specimens to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew in August 1850, he had no idea what he was unleashing on the world. Among the various floral and tuberous growths he dispatched was a plant which, 164 years later, is leaving a trail of mayhem all across the planet. It goes by the name of Japanese knotweed, or Fallopia japonica. It presents a pleasing appearance to the eye: heart-shaped leaves, bamboo stems and pretty, little white-flower tassels. What is less obvious is this plant’s relentless killer instinct. Look through the

The vast majority of 50,000 unaccompanied youths and children who have illegally crossed the Texas border during the last few months have been successfully delivered by federal agencies to their relatives living in the United States, according to a New York Times article. Washington - Celebrating the ethnic diversity of America, President Barack Obama said more than two dozen foreign-born service members who became U.S. citizens at the White House on the Fourth of July are vivid reminders that welcoming immigrants "is central to our way of life." He argued that the system must be retooled for the U.S. to remain the greatest nation on earth. "The basic idea of welcoming
