On Air Force One, No Lightening

WASHINGTON — A blue-cheese burger with lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli, accompanied by Parmesan-sprinkled fries. Chocolate fudge cake. Pasta shells stuffed with four cheeses, topped with meat sauce and shredded mozzarella, and served with a garlic breadstick. Cake infused with limoncello. Buffalo wings with celery, carrots and homemade ranch dip. Such was the fare served to passengers aboard Air Force One during a particularly grueling three-state day on the campaign trail just before the 2012 election. Not much has changed since. “It’s American fare, in that it’s not going all arugula on people,” said Arun Chaudhary, who was President Obama’s

As in, Let Them Eat Cake.

Funny, I first read the headline as "Coke," as in the stuff our betters like to cram up their nostrils.

I got off sugar at age 20. Yes, 20...I had low blood sugar.....that´s when I taught myself good eating habits for 40 plus years for me. I look younger and feel great. I got off sodas at 20 and all the refined junk.....including white pastas and flour and some grains. It´s worked for me all these years. I do, however, occasionally have raw honey in my oatmeal or oatbran. A little honey is antibacterial. Sometimes I mix honey with garlic...really knocks out bad bacteria. Anyway.....it´s worked so well for me and I´m glad I had the low blood sugar since it taught me to eat natural foods that are good for me. This also has helped me keep unnecessary weight off me.

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is expected to return this week to military duty, six weeks after his release as a Taliban prisoner, Fox News confirmed Monday. Bergdahl has completed his therapy and counseling sessions at an Army hospital at Fort Sam Houston, in Texas, since being returned by the Taliban on May 31. He spent five years in captivity and will start a job at the base as early as Monday, as reported first by The New York Times. Officials say Bergdahl’s return to work is part of his reintegration into Army life. The 28-year-old Bergdahl left his post in

Approximately 2,000 eighth graders in the Rialto, CA, school district received a shocking in-class essay assignment in May, which led to an outcry from the community and a public apology from district administrators. The assignment asked students to discuss whether the Holocaust “was an actual event in history,” or whether it was “merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain,” the San Bernadino Sun reports. After the justified outrage ensued, district administrators insisted that not one single student had argued against the reality of the Holocaust. But the San Bernadino Sun, after sifting through hundreds of student

From a speech he gave in Austin, Texas late last week: “I’m just telling the truth now. I don’t have to run for office again, so I can just, you know, let her rip.” Yes, he really said that – effectively meaning he wasn’t being totally straightforward before he got elected (see: Politifact’s “Lie of the Year” about keeping your health plan). Democrats in tough reelection races have a blunt message for President Obama: Keep away. Obama’s approval ratings are in the basement and show no signs of improving, so Democrats are keeping their distance. On the stump, in campaign ads and at fundraisers, Obama’s absence is increasingly conspicuous. Democrats are voicing their displeasure with his policies and campaign advisers are telling candidates to avoid being photographed with him, so as to deny Republicans effective visuals for campaign ads. “It’s a no-brainer,” said one operative who works for a senator up for reelection in 2014. “The second term has been a bit

The White House’s explanation of why so many “children” are crossing our southern border recently is that the violence in Central America drove them here. Also, as usual, Bush is to blame: in 2008 President Bush signed a law “to prevent immigration officials from inadvertently sending [children] back to pimps and drug violence”. On July 5, the Los Angeles Times published an article by Brian Bennett. Using data obtained from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Bennett reported as follows. “The increase has been dramatic. For most of the last decade, U.S. agents apprehended fewer than 4,000 ?unaccompanied children from El

The high-end sale came one day after the 100th anniversary of the Bambino’s Major League Baseball debut on July 11, 1914 for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. That contract, which went for $1.02 million, was the highlight of an auction of Ruth and other baseball players’ memorabilia on Saturday night at the Sports Legends Museum in Baltimore. The latest Republican leader to emerge from the San Joaquin is Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen of Modesto, a conservative with an appealing moderate tone, who nevertheless has strong views about water development. She isn´t easily pigeonholed. Unlike some valley Republicans, Olsen is adamantly opposed — as are many environmentalists — to Gov.
