House Speaker John Boehner announced Wednesday he plans to file suit against President Obama over his alleged abuse of executive power. "This is not about impeachment -- it´s about him faithfully executing the laws of this country," Boehner said. The speaker had been weighing such a lawsuit in recent days, over concerns that Obama exceeded his constitutional authority with executive actions. The lawsuit has not yet been filed. But asked Wednesday whether he intended to proceed, Boehner said: "I am." The decision to sue would still have to be formally approved by a group of House leaders. Presuming that step is cleared, the suit

Comments:
So how many years will it take for this to wind its way through the courts and Obama will be long gone? The destruction will be complete. I would rather he filed articles of impeachment.

I couldn´t agree more, OP. This is the equivalent of doing nothing while having the appearance of doing something; a charade to quell the dumb masses.

Anyone but Boner would be better, but he is all we have. So maybe, just maybe he´ll have his once-in-a-lifetime Adlai Stevenson moment and actually do his job.

I agree with OP; this thing will be sandbagged to hell and gone before anything happens to stinky, if anything ever does.

Sorry, Boehner, this is just bread and circuses. Meaningless. Running out the clock. You must have told your best smoking and golf buddy Barry that you have to "do something" to keep those pesky conservatives happy...even though, Barry, we both know this will go nowhere. Yada, yada, yada.

There are three Constitutional remedies available to the House Republicans in this whole mess: impeachment, government shutdown, and "inherent contempt". Boehner, of course, will employ none of these. As above have noted: a lawsuit is only deflection. How did the lawsuits against Obamacare work out?

Boehner is part of the problem.

Enough.

Mother Jones editor David Corn noted today that Republicans finally managed to reach out to black voters and the tea party went crazy. In a clip flagged by RCP, Corn told Hardball guest host Steve Kornacki that the Mississippi Senate race this week just makes the race issues within the GOP more evident. The topic of discussion was tea party challenger Chris McDaniel and whether he could actually pose a serious threat to the GOP in the fall. Corn half-joked that tea partiers could vote for the Democrat to punish Cochran, but more seriously, he observed, “The Republican party has been

Bill O’Reilly went after the media tonight for what he believed was some crystal clear proof of liberal bias: “a news blackout” of all stories negative to the Obama administration while doing lots of hyping over BridgeGate. O’Reilly said this is not only partisan, but a dangerous exercise in “subverting American democracy.” O’Reilly declared the Founding Fathers would be absolutely up in arms to see the media drop the ball on issues like the VA scandal and the IRS, thus exposing their “corruption” and “blatant partisanship.” And as an example of how the media colors people, O’Reilly cited himself, claiming that

National Republican leaders are toasting primary season as a smashing success over activist conservatives that has put the hard right on the ropes and given the Washington GOP the slate of candidates it wanted for 2014. Those victories, however, have come at a staggering cost — and Republicans are painfully aware of the price of putting down an intraparty insurrection. Establishment-aligned groups have already spent some $23 million on independent expenditures propping up favored House and Senate candidates in contentious primaries, according to a POLITICO review of Federal Election Commission records. In comparison, that’s the same sum of money that Republican

Having joked that he could do anything he wants, Obama is guilty of running roughshod over the Constitution, bypassing Congress and governing by executive decree, stuffing his administration with Muslim Brotherhood operatives, making common cause with America’s enemies and betraying its allies, promoting the global warming scam at enormous cost to the taxpayer, accepting illicit campaign donations, failing to defend U.S. soil against illegal border crossings (in direct contravention of Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution), being in contempt of federal court for his oil-drilling moratorium

With a surprisingly wide margin of victory, Congressman James Lankford won the Oklahoma Republican U.S. Senate primary, defeating former Speaker of the State House of Representatives T.W. Lankford now becomes the prohibitive favorite to replace outgoing Senator Tom Coburn, who is retiring with two years remaining in his current term. This was a very different race from the one taking place in Mississippi. Despite negative ads run against Lankford by conservative groups, the Oklahoma contest was not an example of an “establishment” Republican or RINO versus a Tea Party candidate. In

Thad Cochran’s political resurrection began with a campaign shakeup and ended with a Hail Mary television ad. Just three weeks ago, in the dead of night on June 3, the Mississippi senator’s staff sat shaken and dejected, crestfallen at the results of a primary that deprived the six-term incumbent of an electoral majority. With Cochran forced into a runoff fight against an aggressive and energetic challenger, a dark mood shadowed his backers in Washington and Mississippi.Yet almost immediately, the Cochran coalition began bouncing back. Even on that gloomy night of June 3, Cochran adviser Stuart Stevens was insisting to staffers: “We’re

National conservative groups are angry after incumbent Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran pulled off a victory in the state’s GOP run-off — likely because of his campaign’s outreach to Democratic voters. “It’s disgraceful that self-described GOP leaders like Mitch McConnell, John McCain, the Chamber of Commerce and the NRSC would champion a campaign platform of pork barrel spending and insider deal-making, while recruiting Democrats to show up at the polls,” Matt Kibbe of FreedomWorks said after the results came in. Tuesday’s closely-watched run-off came after conservative state Sen. Chris McDaniel edged Cochran in votes in the initial election earlier this month.
