Conservative Groups Angry After Thad
Cochran Wins With Help From Democrats

Daily Caller, by Alex Pappas

National conservative groups are angry after incumbent Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran pulled off a victory in the state’s GOP run-off — likely because of his campaign’s outreach to Democratic voters. “It’s disgraceful that self-described GOP leaders like Mitch McConnell, John McCain, the Chamber of Commerce and the NRSC would champion a campaign platform of pork barrel spending and insider deal-making, while recruiting Democrats to show up at the polls,” Matt Kibbe of FreedomWorks said after the results came in. Tuesday’s closely-watched run-off came after conservative state Sen. Chris McDaniel edged Cochran in votes in the initial election earlier this month.

It´s not even about GOP vs DNC anymore.

Most people realize there is zero difference between the two parties in Washington DC. It´s really about two parties of Big Government vs Main Street USA.

Tea Party Groups should fund his third party run. The confusion that would ensue would be hilarious.

Do African Americans vote for the Dem or the Republican? In the meantime, conservatives flock to the polls and vote for the conservative.

Works for me!

I can already smell defeat for Republicans. There will be no taking of the Senate. Too large of a divide to overcome. The "establishment" republicans will not support the Tea Party folks and the Tea Party will not support the establishment ones. However, more Tea Party folks will support the establishment folks than the reverse. I will vote for any republican over any democrat again. Little time left for intra-party squabbles. That´s what the primaries are for. As long as no voting laws are broken then I accept the outcomes.

Cochran should be demanded to resign immediately by the people of Mississippi, he won by sleazy fliers to the black populace (linked on Drudge). No different than the sleaziest dem you can think of. As we know for sure, Washington is a stinking cesspool of corruption.

Democrats crossed over and voted for David Brat in the open Virginia primary and that
didn´t bother the Tea Party.
In Virginia, the Democrats wanted to
boost the weaker candidate Brat.
In Mississippi , the Democrats
were helping the Republicans .
When Rush Limbaugh launched Operation Chaos
to encourage Republicans
in open primaries to vote for Hillary,
Levin and company thought it was hilarious.
Politics ain´t beanbag as the saying goes.
Cochran did what he had to do to win , he out worked McDaniels .
The Tea Party and talk radio describing Cochran as
the devil incarnate was ridiculous.
Nothing prevented McDaniel from trying
to sell his message to Democrats
and asking for them to support him.
McDaniel´s crybaby and nasty attitude
in defeat is extremely unbecoming and a contrast to
Cantor´s gracious and mature concession speech.
The 6,000 +vote majority for Cochran cannot be blamed
on random Democrats crossing over.

I dunno, #7. I can only speak for myself, but had McDaniels won I would´ve gladly supported McDaniels and since Cochran won, I´ll gladly support Cochran. My goal is to get this country on the right track again. I think I can best do that if Republicans (whichever subcategory) win the Senate and the Presidency. From that point, I will commit myself to trying to change things from WITHIN. I can volunteer locally, even if it´s a candidate for whom I didn´t support. If enough of us do this, elected officials have to listen--especially if we work in their offices!
This way I think we have a shot at 2 big wins for the USA, while taking up our marbles and going home may give personal satisfaction but would yield ZERO wins for this country.
The key is to be completely dedicated to work from WITHIN in an organized manner. Why wouldn´t frustrated Republicans want to try that ---instead of handing the upcoming elections to Demos and basically giving them a free pass to destroy what little is left of this country?

I just saw the flier against McDaniel. I am stunned. This was a vicious ploy by the establishment which could have allowed Cochran to retire gracefully before his dementia gets worse.

When a Conservative like McDaniel is a greater threat to the GOP than Obama and his ilk, there is simply no more reason to support the party in any way. I have never ever failed to vote. Yes, it´s been with a heavy heart in the last few presidential elections, and I was left feeling like I needed to wash my hands after the last one. But honestly, seeing what the GOP did in Mississippi has relieved me of any desire to give them another vote.

Just thinking aloud here. I am beginning to think that if I do as you suggest (if you can´t beat them, join them?) that IS the equivalent of picking up my marbles and going home. We saw last night the lengths the D.C. Establishment will go to in order to protect their Club. I think the idea of forming a third party is so much work, so daunting to some that we talk ourselves into believing we have time to change things from within the GOP. I don´t think we have that kind of time...

My sources inside MS voted for Cochran. One voted for McDaniel in the primary but was too turned off by him in the run off to vote for him again. The other had always seen McDaniel as a crooked lawyer and could never vote for him. Neither voted against the Tea Party or for the establishment. It was a lesser of two evils type vote. And, incidentally neither think Thad will finish his term as "dementia" is being floated around in not so quiet whispers. But, he will have to stay in office long enough for McDaniel to lose influence.

Bottom line: not all voters in MS are influenced by fliers, negative campaigns.

having a robo call out to the blacks in Mississippi stating that McDaniel does not support Obama policies is why the blacks crossed over and voted for Cochran. so, I would say that those blacks voted RACE..not anything else...voted, give me...not anything else...and Cochran, instead of running a clean race, allowed it, for his own benefit, not for the good of the country..typical democrat plan...

One way to stop this fraud, is closed primaries..dems vote for their guy and Republicans vote for theirs..no cross over allowed..clean vote. that would help stop this nonsense.

I don´t see the parallels between the Brat/Cantor race and the Cochran/McDaniels race. The problem for me is the all-out establishment assault on McDaniels, made even worse by the fact that Cochran is not fit to serve. There is no equivalent in any of the other examples listed by Poster #10. So McDaniels has problems - are they truly worse than what Cochran offers? Seems to me the establishment supporters are still more interested in wooing the Chamber of Commerce than Conservative voters.

IMO the solution to this is to replace the primary system with a formal runoff system in all states. Let the top two vote getters in the first election face each other in the runoff election, period. Avoid the 51% "automatic win" rule and allow realignment for the runoff. There should be no separate party elections. Why should the public pay to help political parties select their candidates in the first place? IMO, that is unConstitutional. The Framers warned against political parties for reasons like that. (An "R" or a "D" behind the name is nothing more than political advertising directly on the ballot.)

That would suppress crossover voting, since "spoilers" would have to vote against their own candidate - possibly disqualifying him or her - in order to skew the result for the other party.

Let parties select their candidates via the internet (new approach) or via a convention (old approach), and not via an open primary (corrupt approach).

If Mississippi voters actually wanted Cochran then so be it, but it was shameful the way it was handled. IMO, ´Operation Chaos´ gave us barack obama in 2008 and is nothing to brag about.

Earnest noted that the investigation had been reported on in January. The Times first reported the federal investigation into Solis´ activities at that time,

According to refugee data from the U.S. Department of State, the federal government did not grant refugee protection to a single person from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador or Mexico in fiscal year 2013. Now, almost all of the unaccompanied children illegally crossing into the U.S. from Mexico are coming from those nations, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other congressional Democrats have described these illegal aliens as “refugees.” In the seven fiscal years from 2007 through 2013, a mere five Guatemalans and 25 Hondurans were granted refugee status in the United States. It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the
