How Thad Cochran´s campaign pulled it off
Politico, by Alexander Burns

Thad Cochran’s political resurrection began with a campaign shakeup and ended with a Hail Mary television ad. Just three weeks ago, in the dead of night on June 3, the Mississippi senator’s staff sat shaken and dejected, crestfallen at the results of a primary that deprived the six-term incumbent of an electoral majority. Comments:
Thad Cochran had nothing to do with this. Haley Barbour and other establishment GOPers did this. They declared war on us. The establishment in the NSRC fought harder to literally destroy the Tea Party than they have ever fought Obama or the democrats. Yesterday, McConnell and Boehner were literally holding hands with Pelosi and Reid singing we shall overcome.

It´s the establishment vs, the rest of us. The GOP hates us.

Mississippi earned its position as the most CORRUPT State in the Union on Tuesday.
Cochran did not win - America lost.
Shame and disgrace on Barbour, McCain, McConnell and the rest who supported the senile porkmeister philanderer.
McDaniel deserves better - and so does America.
McCain and Cochran campaigning together - the REAL Wacko Birds.
Cruz 2016.

Amen OP Amen! The elite GOP would rather a Democrat win than a Tea Party conservative and that just might happen come November in Mississippi.

Did Cochran thank all the democrats that voted for him in the primary? Without them, he would have lost.

I would think that there would be a legal case to be made to throw out any ballot of anyone who voted in the democrat primary, since it is illegal in Mississippi to change parties in a runoff election.

Crossing party lines only helps the establishmentarians, French republicans, and democrats.

Laws allowing cross-over voting need to be stricken from the books.

Yup, he will end up a Rino to pay back the debt.

There is no more division Republicans versus Democrats.
There is a fight between establishment from both parties, government bureaucrats and their clients (mostly minorities, crony capitalists, greens, foreign interests, people with strange sexual orientations) versus rest of the country.
Basically leaches versus producers.
Party affiliation is secondary.

Just an observation: The very same people who want Obama impeached, are willing to sit out this election in order to teach the GOP a lesson. I wonder if they understand that if the Dems take back the House and keep the Senate, not only will Obama never be impeached, but we will have two years of the Obama agenda ON STEROIDS. Whether you like the establishment Republicans or not, under the current GOP-majority House, we have started to see the light at the end of the tunnel, as far as the economy is concerned. There has been progress in other areas as well. Please, please, please don´t make a senseless gesture by staying home in November!

What is glaringly missing from this article is that fact that in 2012 Barbour pardoned Favre´s brother Scott for a vehicular manslaughter conviction from 1996 and a DUI conviction from 1997. So on June 12th Cochran´s campaign goes on a "whirlwind mission" to locate Brett to cash in on the favor.

There are plenty of circumstances in which that pithy imperative —variously attributed to Disraeli, Queen VIctoria, and sundry other worthies — wins my admiration. “Never apologize, never explain”: I like the blunt, no-nonsense aroma it exudes, the hinted-at announcement that there will be no wallowing in unproductive self-recriminations or manufactured displays of contrition. There is a reason, I think, that the motto seems traceable to Victorian times: an era when manly forthrightness still had a prominent place in the economy of public life. But context is everything. It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

The headline in the Washington Post on June 4 was clear: Rove-backed American Crossroads won’t get involved in Cochran runoff Said the Post story the day after Tea Party favorite Chris McDaniel had defeated six-term Mississippi GOP Senator Thad Cochran in the first round of the state’s GOP primary: American Crossroads, a GOP establishment organization, has decided to shift its political focus almost entirely to the general election and will not be spending money in the likely runoff election to decide the Mississippi Senate nomination that was virtually deadlocked after Tuesday night. Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
