Memphis, TN — Five teens were shot on Saturday evening, after a Memphis Gun Down event meant to keep teens and guns off the streets; Tony Coburn is in custody with five counts of attempted first-degree murder. Police say four other suspects ran from the scene. "They came beating on my door telling me my nephew had been shot," aunt of a victim Lynisha Carr said. (Snip) The five teens had been at a gym around the corner for a midnight basketball tournament put on by Memphis Athletic Ministries and Mayor A C Wharton´s Memphis Gun Down initiative. According to an affidavit

Comments:
The "no guns" event and the midnight basketball created something of a double-negative, causing long-simmering emotions to boil over and shots to ring out in the Community.

People that behave like need to be off the board -- how much simpler can it be !!! This is what is so frustrating to me -- so many of our problems can be resolved if there is only the will to do it and to enforce the law.

Middle-class families should stop buying large fridges in order to save energy and tackle climate change, a government-commissioned report has suggested. Families could save up to £36 a year on their electricity bills by replacing large fridge-freezers or televisions with smaller appliances, according to a study published by the Department for Energy and Climate Change. The report found that the average family fridge had grown in volume by two fifths since 1985, amid a fashion for large American-style appliances, while the average television had grown by more than seven inches since 2004. It warned that the trend undermined

The ordinance also stipulates that free pot must be the same quality, on average, as the pot that other members buy. According to NBC Bay Area, the City Council has defined very low income as $32,000 a year for one person

The British Film Institute has revealed its “Three Ticks” scheme, which will be implemented in September to ensure diversity in films and behind the scenes, The Telegraph reported. Films must “tick” at least two of three criteria: on-screen diversity; off-screen diversity and “creating opportunities and social mobility,” the paper reported. Washington and Lee University expressed regret Tuesday for the school’s past ownership of slaves and promised to remove Confederate flags from the main chamber of its Lee Chapel after a group of black students protested that the historic Virginia school was unwelcoming to minorities. President Kenneth P. Ruscio’s announcement was a surprising move for the small, private liberal arts college in Lexington, which has long celebrated its Southern heritage. Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee served as the university’s president after the Civil War, his crypt is beneath the chapel, and the school has gingerly addressed its ties to the Confederacy

Glenn Beck has set up Mercury One Children and Family Border Relief Fund to help illegals coming into the United States. He’s already raised $600,000. Beck stated that Obama would not have to step in and ask for $3.7 billion if private charities would pick up the slack and give to the swarm of illegals crossing the border. Is he kidding? Do we really need more churches and non-profits enabling this blatant attack on America? Rich people and liberal elite billionaires have no skin in the game when it comes to the consequences of illegal immigration so what do they care? Both acknowledged Boehner’s gripe with the Obama administration had merit, but were skeptical of the lawsuit’s chances. However, they both also took on the alternative offered by former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), which was to impeach President Barack Obama. Both dismissed that course of action as well, with Brooks calling it “cloud cuckoo land.” Partial transcript as follows: WOODRUFF: So the Highway Trust
