NAACP says it will watch

Clarion-Ledger [Jackson, MS], by Deborah Barfield Berry

NAACP officials said they will send monitors to the polls in Mississippi today to make sure black voters aren’t intimidated when they try to cast ballots in the state’s high-profile Senate race. Derrick Johnson, president of the Mississippi NAACP, said he’s received reports that tea party activists and other groups may send representatives to predominantly black precincts to challenge voters casting ballots in the GOP runoff election between Sen. Thad Cochran and state Sen. Chris McDaniel. Johnson said voter intimidation of any form should not be tolerated. “We’ll be on the lookout,” he said. Johnson held a conference call Monday night about the issue

WHAT?
It is a GOP runoff election, and the NAACP is worried that black voters might be intimidated when they try to vote?
Are you kidding me?
I thought there ARE NO black GOP voters? Or maybe they are so few that it isn´t worth the effort to intimidate them.
The Mississippi GOP leader needs to come out loud and clear. This is a GOP primary runoff. There can´t and won´t be any intimidation because the Dems aren´t voting and won´t be there to intimidate voters.

Many of you are missing the import of this action. This is a great opportunity to show that the GOP DOES have black members. Local GOP politicians, polsters, etc. must attend these festivities and get photo-ops with these black voters. Publish the images in the local and national press and social networks on the internet. This will show that Mississippi has evolved since the bad old days of Jim Crow, etc. This emergence of the black GOP constituency requires a celebration of their courage for breaking free of the control of their Democratic masters. Support their right to vote Republican and their struggles against the Democratic machine. ;-)

Seriously, turn on the agitprop machine and counter this strategy. The right propaganda outlook could turn this into a positive event for the GOP. :-)

Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James became “violently ill” during a ride with the storied Thunderbirds aerial acrobatic team this week. Americans faith in the three branches of government is nearing all-time lows, according to a recent survey via Gallup. In 2009, President Barack Obama entered office at a time when confidence in the office of the presidency had reached historic low level, bottoming out in 2007 at 25 percent. Obama’s election amid a wave of “hope” resulted in a rebound in Americans’ faith in the presidency. Six years later, however, that rating has again collapsed. In 2009, 51 percent said they had confidence in the Oval Office. Today, only 29 percent say the same. The executive branch is in good company. In
