The 8 Primaries to Watch Tuesday
National Journal, by Adam Wollner

After House Majority Leader Eric Cantor´s shocking defeat, political observers got some extra recovery time last week, when there were no primaries for the first time since April. This week, voters in six states will hit the polls to determine nominees in several important Senate, House, and gubernatorial races. Here are eight to keep an eye on: MISSISSIPPI SENATE The GOP primary in the Magnolia State went to a second round after neither six-term Sen. Thad Cochran nor his tea-party challenger, state Sen. Chris McDaniel, got the majority support necessary on June 3 to avoid a runoff. After finishing just ahead of

You would think an old bull southern republican like Cochran would automatically be considered a racist by the left but here they are crossing party lines to make sure he stays in office vs. someone who believes in a honest government.

If Thad pulls this out,it´ll be another example of this country hitting rock bottom politically.

Both Cochran and before him,Trent Lott bought billions in pork to Miss. and they´re still one of the poorest states in the country.

Here in the NY-1 Congressional race the article talks about we have been inundated with t.v. commercials and mail by this guy Demos attacking the Iraq vet Zeldin --- who is currently a state Assemblyman and also the Conservative Party nominee. Demos is basically an unemployed lawyer. What the article doesn´t say is the $2 million in funds for Demos come from his father-in-law as a "loan". The FIL just happens to be Nancy Pelosi´s husbands´ business partner.

This is what the Dems are doing. They are getting suckers to run against good Republicans as either a three or four way race or they use that person to beat up a decent guy so he´s already gone 10 rounds before stepping into the ring against the Dem.

A friend of mine just voted in this Republican primary at 9am (polls open here at 6am) and he was the first voter! We can´t save people from themselves!

I love how the onus is on the Tea Party in the introduction of Must Reads. In reality it is the ESTABLISHMENT whose strength of holding its position that is being tested, not the Tea Party´s.

Remember it is the Tea Party who is being outspent as much as 10-1 or more in some cases by their Republican Establishment opponents. By all Washington D.C. standards of being able to win elections that should mean winning is all but assured.

No, it is the Republican Establishment grip on Washington D.C. that is being tested today. It is they who are on the defense.

Got Tea?

What these elections seem to be about is that the Tea Party candidates are running against both the Democrats and establishment Republicans. Neither party wants change in DC.

Meanwhile the Latin American invasion of The United States of America continues unabated. Both major Parties are guilty of Treason and dereliction of duty.

Voted for Claudia Tenney over Richard Hanna here in New York.

Looking for a fiscal conservative. Hanna portrays himself as a fiscal conservative, but was one of only twenty congressional Republicans that voted to raise the debt ceiling. Tenney says she is a conservative, but don´t really know.

Looking for someone that is socially neutral, and would not let anyone push their social values on everyone else, but still more sympathetic to the conservatives. Doubt either are ideal.

I´m more than ready to give someone else a chance given the state of our government. Nothing changes as long as people keep voting in the emcumbants.

We have written several times about the logjam on visas for foreign interpreters who served our military during Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The logjam has been particularly egregious for Afghan interpreters. Even Democrats are appalled. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen said last year: We have to keep our promise to individuals who risked their lives serving alongside our troops. Failing to act puts lives at further risk and hurts our credibility around the globe. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a veteran of the Afghan war, expressed “deep concern” that “the threat posed to interpreters by Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan is being downplayed or disregarded,”

When it comes to Atlantic City’s casino mess, don’t put The Blame on The Donald. Billionaire Donald Trump said Saturday that the imminent closing of the Trump Plaza casino in A.C. was no reflection on him or his real estate empire. “I let them use my name, but I got out seven years ago,” Trump told the Daily News. “I have nothing to with it. We may have to do something about the name.” The casino was expected to close its doors Sept. 16, leaving more than 1,000 employees out of work, according to its management. Alexis de Tocqueville once said that the limits placed on the central power in the new world are different from the limits placed on national power in the old world. In the New World, the national government has jurisdiction in certain specific areas. It is prohibited by law and custom from transgressing the boundaries of its jurisdiction. In that sense its power is severely limited. But within those boundaries it is sovereign and almost completely beyond challenge. If something such as war or taxing power is deemed a ‘federal matter,’ challenges to that power, for example the Whiskey Rebellion, were

We all remember the fable of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. The moral of the story: Lie one too many times and nobody will believe you, even when you’re telling the truth. Now we have a case of The Government Who Cried Wolf, showing how the failure of the Obama administration’s foreclosure mitigation programs haunt them to this day. The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which oversees mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, wants to help around 676,000 homeowners it has identified as eligible for refinancing under the government’s Home Affordable Refinancing Program (HARP).

Israel´s military said Sunday that four of its special forces soldiers were injured in clashes during an incursion into northern Gaza to destroy a rocket launching site as both sides ignored a unanimous recommendation for a cease-fire from the U.N. The military said that the soldiers had returned to Israeli territory and the operation did not appear to herald the start of a larger ground offensive. Ordinarily, a money-losing company like Cynk Technology Corp. (OTC:CYNK) would languish on the over-the-counter stock market and attract little attention from either investors or the media. Cynk, though, has managed to attract plenty of attention, along with a market capitalization of $4.5 billion. That´s an astonishing feat for a company with no products, no revenue, no website and exactly one employee. To put this in perspective, the New York Times Co. (NYT), whose roots date back to 1851, sports a market value of $2.1 billion, while restaurant chain Zoe´s Kitchen (ZOES), which has 111 locations in 15 states, is valued by the

A government watchdog agency said an estimated $106 billion in payments were made in error last year: meaning they were the wrong amount, went to the wrong person or lacked sufficient documentation. These payments include tax refunds, unemployment benefits, Social Security benefits, and Medicare and Medicaid coverage. The improper payments could be even higher since not all agencies reported to the Government Accountability Office. The US government has been pushing the idea of home solar panels for quite a while now, giving the industry a significant, additional nudge when the current federal subsidy program was generously expanded in 2008. The idea behind this was that if homeowners wanted to save some money on their energy bill by using solar power, they could receive a 30% subsidy to help cover the costs. Sounds pretty sweet, eh? Well, when the government is giving away taxpayer cash, plenty of people will line up to get it… and it’s not always those who were intended to benefit. This

Glenn Beck has set up Mercury One Children and Family Border Relief Fund to help illegals coming into the United States. He’s already raised $600,000. Beck stated that Obama would not have to step in and ask for $3.7 billion if private charities would pick up the slack and give to the swarm of illegals crossing the border. Is he kidding? Do we really need more churches and non-profits enabling this blatant attack on America? Rich people and liberal elite billionaires have no skin in the game when it comes to the consequences of illegal immigration so what do they care? On Friday’s broadcast of PBS’s “NewsHour” New York Times columnist David Brooks and Creators Syndicate columnist Mark Shields took on the House Speaker John Boehner’s lawsuit against the Obama administration, which alleges oversteps in executive authority by the Obama White House. Both acknowledged Boehner’s gripe with the Obama administration had merit, but were skeptical of the lawsuit’s chances. However, they both also took on the alternative offered by former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), which was to impeach President Barack Obama. Both dismissed that course of action as well, with Brooks calling it “cloud cuckoo land.” Partial transcript as follows: WOODRUFF: So the Highway Trust
