´We have a problem with you,
and you have a problem maintaining
your credibility´: House Republicans
slam IRS commissioner as they
subpoena a White House lawyer*

Daily Mail (UK), by David Martosko

Republicans dropped a hammer on IRS Commissioner John Koskinen during a testy hearing covering the disappearance of emails tied to the agency´s tea party targeting scandal. The emails, covering the period January 2009 to April 2011, belonged to embattled former official Lois Lerner and could shed light on whether an expansive scheme to single out conservative groups for special scrutiny was guided by members of Congress or administration officials outside the IRS. ´The committee requested all of Lois Lerner’s emails over a year ago,´ said House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa. ´And we subpoenaed the emails in August 2013 and

I am so tired of stupid Republican hearings. Start charging people with crimes.

That will get their attention.

It took something as simple as tax evasion to bring Al Capone down. We can only hope that this brings this president down.

The hearing was terrific, the Republicans did an excellent job, and they know they need evidence to charge anyone with anything.

I am sick of Republicans slamming Republicans, especially when they usually don´t bother to watch them in action. Just go all kneejerky...

We are the only ones in the game who keep fragging our own side. And it is about sides, whether every player passes the litmus test or not. This is something we could learn from the Dems. It´s called "winning".

Even old Abe knew that dividing was a recipe for losing, for being conquered. But some are stuck on stupid.

Thing is, this is much more serious and far, far more brazen an attempt at evidence tampering than any 18 minute gap in a tape. So if Republicans let Obama and his lying IRS cronies get away with it, the hell to pay will be payed by Republicans. I sure hope the GOP understands that.

#1 needs some education on our system of government. The House Oversight Committee does not have the authority to bring criminal charges against witnesses. The have to refer the matter to the Justice Department and request a Special Prosecutor which they will not get because Holder is as corrupt as everyone else in this Administration.

#3, I also hope this brings down the IRS, Obama´s "civilian police force" he so generously offered to give to the American people. He followed through with that threat and now the IRS has the ability to silence conservative speech by political organizations who want to fund conservative candidates, websites and media free speech. And they are once again on Rush Limbaugh´s case. Silencing him would be their greatest coup, so you know they won´t give up on that.

So for now, just watching the IRS get defunded would allow me to sleep better.

It is clear Koskinen has White House cover. His arrogance reveals that. I can just hear POTUS: "We have your back. Lie about how long it will take to get Lois´ emails and we´ll cover you. They will never come to light unredacted. This committee will get reams of black lines, so don´t worry. Just lie. Everybody lies. I lie, bro. Go have a beer and fuggedaboutit."

From where do these weasely looking democrats spring? Koskinen looks like he stepped out of Hollywood casting after winning the part of an arrogant corrupt politician. That smirky look of his is reminiscent of James Cagney in Public Enemy Number One.

People are interested in knowing about these missing emails and want the truth about what´s in them. The IRS is every taxpayer´s nightmare and the behavior by Lerner and her co-horts should be exposed. Today´s hearing should be interesting. The person who cracks first and tells the whole truth will be a hero to those who expect truth and integrity from their government. Remember this is all about taxes now, but it will be about your health care later. Do you really want this kind of revenge mindset calling the shots on if or when you get health care? This case has far reaching consequences. If they can get by withholding approval of one, they can do it with something else and that something just may be a life or death matter.

Use these hearing to try the democrats. Tell the public to notice who is interested in protecting their rights. Quote Obama in his claim to get to the bottom of this mess, the quote the democrats statements on the committee and note their statements to the IRS. Obama is not running for reelection, so make Obama´s statement condemn the democratic party. Let the public see that the democrats are corrupt. It will only persuade a few democrats, but 5% is a lot in an election.

Speier, a pain in the backside in her California legislature days, became a useful idiot last night. Grandstanding, she ended up being played like a fiddle by Issa and then later he was able to use her as an example of how to do "point of order" correctly when Horford or whatever his name is was trying to do nothing but disrupt the proceedings. It was great to behold, and I don´t believe Speier had a clue as to what was going on. The only thing anyone took away was that she knew how to do point of order correctly - not what she was ranting about.

Issa is a powerful, artful committee chairman. Perfect for this IRS issue.

This will sound racist, and it is. The three blacks on the committee are the troublemakers, intent on protecting Koskinen, the IRS and the president. Their president. And so they display publicly that they care more about Koskinen, the IRS, and Obama than they do the American taxpayers. Does anyone else see that as extremely stupid? Black people pay taxes, too. And have First Amentment rights. No American of any color should be subject to IRS persecution for exercising First Amendment rights.

I keep hearing petulant warnings to the Republicans in Congress that they "need to do something" about this, that "criminal prosecutions" need to ensue, that heads need to roll. Guys, gals, while I share your contempt for go-along-get-along Republican Congresscritters, the Congressional Republicans are doing all they can here. They can hold hearings and subpoena witnesses and get the news out (whether it is reported is not up to them), but that is all. They can´t undertake criminal prosecutions; that is the purview of the Department of Justice, which Eric Holder runs. Good luck getting him to prosecute. Good luck getting him to appoint an independent counsel. Ain´t gonna happen. And as to firings, Koskinen and the other people responsible for this scandal don´t work for Congress either, they work for the executive branch, ultimately Mr. Obama. Why on earth would he fire them for carrying out his agenda?

I think the House Republicans have done their job, and done it well. It´s up to US to stop kvetching and start applying more heat. Just think how much more this investigation would be advanced, and how many people would be in prison now, if enough Republicans had turned out to get Mitt Romney elected two years ago.

Get Lerner´s address book and go after the email files for every one on that list that would have anything to do with this fraud.

It would take time, of course. But all of these emails can be retrieved.

Threaten criminal prosecution if those emails cannot be recovered from the recipients. Let´s see how long it takes for the cockroaches to scatter.

All of those computer drives cannot crash. There is gold in them thar hills.

It´s too bad that the House can´t cut off the funding for the IRS.

I want to scream everytime I hear some talking head, even on our side, talk about this scandal and never mention that one of the articles of impeachment against Richard Nixon was his intended misuse of the IRS, in which Nixon asked the then IRS Commissioner do to some dirt digging on his political opponents - not the widespread attacks that Lerner´s IRS engaged in on legitimate political groups. BTW - Nixon´s IRS Commissioner refused.

And in defense of Issa´s committee, well, his Republican members, unlike today, we actually had a somewhat independent press back in the 1970s, even if they leaned left then they still had a sense of curioisty and they beat Nixon up every single day until he resigned. Now - it´s mostly crickets except for Fox News.

Standing ovation, Poster #5.

I am guessing that every crime that has been committed by Learner and her co-conspirators, starting with 0bama/Jarrett, comes with a Statute of Limitations. All crimes do, with the exception of murder.

The criminals have the full support and cover of the POS –excuse me, POTUS, and Eric the Red.

All the criminals have to do is run out the clock –and sit smugly and sneer at America, and they are home free; by the time the POS –sorry, I mean POTUS is out of office, the statute will have run and they are beyond the law.

The only option that Issa has is to keep the issue before the public, keep subpoenaing the criminals and questioning them, and pray for a Perry Mason moment: What did the President know and when did he know it?

The Toad who testified last night said that he had 90K employees.

What Congress is going to have to do is work on Flat Tax, Fair Tax, whatever, that will basically eliminate the IRS.

One thing we can all agree upon is that evil really hates light!

The republicans may not get he DOJ to do anything, but exposing these people to answer questions is something they never have had to do before. They dislike this exposure a great deal. They have not had to answer to anyone for years!

In addition, the public is watching. This is the department that is exceedingly cruel when examining records of any taxpayer. Therefore there is definite interest.

There are so many scandals in the air presently there will be break. These republicans are working hard, support them.

I have to agree wholely with poster #25. There is just so much the congress can do in cases like this. For the checks and balances ides to work requires that when the light shines on wrong doing, said wrong doing will be corrected. In the case of the Obozo administration, it´s like a badge of honor. A "see what I can get away with" moment. They simply ignore everyone and everything.

And as for those e-mails, I would like for someone within in the IRS define just what they mean by a "crashed hard drive". In just about every case I´ve ever heard about, it actually means a huge problem with the operating system. If that is what has happen, then that information is still on the disk and can be recovered. The only way that a disk can be "crash" and not have recoverable information on it is to physically destroy the disk. And that takes human intervention.

The IRS story is unbelievable. Any large organization (like the IRS, they are huge) has a large IT department. All data is centrally located on servers, and that data is incrementally and continuously backed up to save all updates. No data ever gets lost. The IRS and the Obama gang are lying. This is blatant. Now wait to see if the hearing is for real or is just show.

To throw the election the Tea Party was a force that needed to go away. Lerner´s husband was a big Obama supporter so the WH, and some in Congress, funneled their desires to her. Unfortunately she got overzealous and was caught. She´s not that bright.

Now they are frantically trying to cover her tracks. She trashed her team´s hard drives and eventually had to plead the 5th. It was an act of desperation.

There is panic at 1600 and for good reason.

In reply to 2,7, 25, 33, etc., there is plenty Congress can do but isn´t. Congress has strong investigative powers and can appoint special counsel. Special counsel can do a complete job of investigation, examination of witnesses and development of evidence. This is important in cases like this because most congressional members are not competent to do this work. They can appoint a former prosecutor to do this. This is important for impeachment purposes. Undermining constitutional rights and misleading Congress are grounds for impeachment. Next, Congress has the power to impeach executive officials who have abused their power. The first thing to be done is to get the corrupt official out of office. Worry about prosecution later. Had Boehner acted properly some time ago the evidence may still have been available. In any event, why is Boehner sitting by and letting the evidence slip away and taking no action. Get special counsel in and nail down the evidence and impeach this scum. These scandals involve serious malfeasant officials and the republicans keep whining there is nothing they can do and do nothing. Yes there is. Start doing it.

How about a leader or group of leaders advise their clients (UStaxpayers) to refuse to send their money into the IRS, any more than they would pay Mafia protection money. They could set up a trust account, and pay emergency funds (military) out of that. Funds would be withheld until special counsel is in place. I would listen to Gowdy, Cruz, Lee and a few others. I guess this would be classified as revolt , but we are dealing with revolting people.

The White House’s explanation of why so many “children” are crossing our southern border recently is that the violence in Central America drove them here. Also, as usual, Bush is to blame: in 2008 President Bush signed a law “to prevent immigration officials from inadvertently sending [children] back to pimps and drug violence”. On July 5, the Los Angeles Times published an article by Brian Bennett. Using data obtained from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Bennett reported as follows. “The increase has been dramatic. For most of the last decade, U.S. agents apprehended fewer than 4,000 ?unaccompanied children from El

Babe Ruth’s 1918 contract — inked two years before he became a Yankee legend — sold for more than $1 million at a Baltimore auction. The high-end sale came one day after the 100th anniversary of the Bambino’s Major League Baseball debut on July 11, 1914 for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. That contract, which went for $1.02 million, was the highlight of an auction of Ruth and other baseball players’ memorabilia on Saturday night at the Sports Legends Museum in Baltimore. Wil Lewis and his wife had lived in Chicago for about a year and had moved about two weeks ago to a home on Greenview Avenue in Rogers Park, a neighborhood they considered "safe enough," his family said. The 28-year-old from Wisconsin, a photographer by trade, was scheduled to start a new job Monday, a prospect he was "very excited" about, family said. But, about 3:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon, that all changed. Lewis was on a North Side street when a man walked up to him and started firing shots, police said. Lewis was hit in the back and died

Germany´s Mario Gotze scored with a brilliant finish to win the World Cup for Germany tonight, as his team beat Argentina 1-0 in the hotly-contested final. The Bayern Munich star coolly slotted home to score in the 113th minute, after his team had been battled long into extra time in their bid to take home the famous trophy for the fourth time - the first time as a unified nation. Midfielder Gotze, 22, came on as a substitute to net the winner, controlling the ball with his chest before volleying it into the Argentine goal, making the Germans the first

Brian Reichle couldn´t have gotten a pepperoni pizza much faster. Needing to replenish his stash of pot one recent afternoon, the Burbank resident dialed Speed Weed. Within the hour, a driver arrived with a white paper bag carrying a gram of cannabis, 10 joints and a handful of pot-infused candies and cookies. "They come to my house, and they´re in and out," said Reichle, 39, a comedian who spends about $100 a week on medical marijuana. "I shouldn´t have to go to a store." Once a small, word-of-mouth phenomenon, mobile marijuana businesses now number in the hundreds across Southern California.

Border apprehensions reportedly decreased last week, but there aren’t any indications that the tide of Central Americans pouring across the border has ebbed. U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson told him in a briefing July 8 that there was a decline in apprehensions ahead of his trip to Guatemala, one of the nations where the bulk of the immigrants are coming from. (Snip) but say they have heard the recent relief is due to train accidents along the most popular path across Mexico.

Paris- Clashes erupted in Paris on Sunday as thousands of people protested against Israel and in support of residents in the Gaza Strip, where a six-day conflict has left 168 Palestinians dead. Several thousand demonstrators walked calmly through the streets of Paris behind a large banner that read "Total Support for the Struggle of the Palestinian People". But clashes erupted at the end of the march on Bastille Square, with people throwing projectiles onto a cordon of police who responded with tear gas. The unrest continued early Sunday evening as police announced six arrests had been made. A small group tired

In a very underreported story, the Mexican government inked an agreement with Guatemala that would assist citizens from Guatemala in transiting Mexico to get to the US border. Jerome Corsi highlights the 5 areas of cooperation that will make the journey from Guatemala to the US safer: 1. Mexico established for the Central American migrants transiting through Mexico a new Mexican-government issued “Regional Visitor Card” that instructs the Mexican National Institute of Migration to recognize the holder as having been granted by the Mexican government the right to a “temporary stay” in Mexico. The purpose of the “Regional Visitor Card”

On Saturday, President Obama interrupted his busy schedule of playing pool, drinking beer and jumping lines at BBQ joints to play golf an exclusive private country club in Maryland with ESPN host Michael Wilbon. Not like he has anything else to do, right? There’s nothing unusual about the president hitting the golf course – he’s done it at least a record-setting 177 times over his term. But it’s who he is playing golf with that’s interesting. As IJReview’s current Editor-at-Large Larry O’Connor reported for Breitbart in November 2013, Wilbon made the eyebrow-raising comment: “People can be upset with me if

Rebel Pundit interviewed the community this week about Barack Obama’s open border policies and his spending on the illegal immigrant community. Let’s just say – they are NOT HAPPY. One local resident even says, “Barack Obama will go down as the worst president ever elected.” The Chicago resident below says: “With the president setting aside all these funds for immigrants and forsaken African-American community and African-American families, I think that’s a disgrace. And Barack is from the heart of 55th in the City of Chicago… He will probably go down as the worst president ever elected. Bill Clinton was the African-American president.“

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´." The Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, thinks that´s loco. (Technically, he said, "I disagree".) For Republicans hoping to avoid the kind of drama that might derail what looks to be a very good midterm election year, this kind of call is both a nuisance and a trend. In a world where there are no

It’s true what they say about Michelle Obama. She has amazing arms. I saw this up close when she unfurled her bare right limb in front of me Thursday night, while the two of us were doing tapas at the jumping Barcelona on 14th Street NW. Clearly the first lady works out, clearly she moisturizes and clearly L’Oréal should hire her as its pitchwoman after she leaves 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. “Ma’am, you rock,” I wanted to tell her, even though I was seated a table away from her party of eight, which included White House chef Sam Kass, and was

In his weekly radio/YouTube address, President Obama derided House Republicans’ planned lawsuit against him, warning that GOP lawmakers will spend taxpayer dollars on a frivolous legal challenge. “It’s a political stunt that’s going to waste months of America’s time. And by the way, they’re going to pay for it using your hard-earned tax dollars,” Obama said. (Video) House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, has orchestrated the beginnings of a lawsuit against the president over his use of executive authority. Angry Democrats in Nebraska said the Obama Outhouse float in the 4th of July parade may have been racist. So now Eric Holder is looking into it. Omaha.com reported: The U.S. Department of Justice has joined the discussions over a controversial float in the Norfolk Independence Day parade. The department sent a member of its Community Relations Service team, which gets involved in discrimination disputes, to a Thursday meeting about the issue. Also at the meeting were the NAACP, the Norfolk mayor and The Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The Odd Fellows organized the parade. One of the floats included a zombie-like mannequin standing near

Friday on "Democracy Now," Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL) attacked his "shameful" Republican colleagues for wanting to change the 2008 child trafficking law so that the children from from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador current streaming across the border in hopes of evading deportation will be treated the same as those from Mexico before approving the $3.7 billion in emergency funding the president has requested. The Illinois Democrat said, "I think it is shameful that in the Congress of the U.S. we see members of Congress engendering and creating fear of children. We should be protecting children, not creating fear of them." Yesterday,

The “ugly American” has gotten a lot uglier over the past few weeks, from the streets of California to the halls of Congress and state houses around the country. A growing number of our fellow Americans have taken on grotesque features, in looks and sounds, in reaction to the thousands of children from Central America who have crossed our borders as they flee poverty and violence in hope for something better. Sadly, the arrival of these youngsters has been greeted by flag-waving, sign-carrying, Bible-thumping and Constitution-quoting citizens demanding that they not be received here and that they be returned immediately to their

Those grievances range from (but are not limited to) Benghazi, the IRS scandal, the "targeting" of conservative filmmaker Dinesh D´Souza, illegal immigration, the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court case, the treatment of war veterans, the chaos in Iraq and deep reservations about President Obama. "Five years ago, I stated that Obama would take the country apart piece-by-piece, that he would cause a civil war in this country," Voight read on Saturday in a statement on
