McDaniel, Cochran primary
law fight disingenuous

Clarion Ledger [Jackson, MS], by Sam R. Hall

Mississippi has a law that says a person cannot vote in a party primary unless they intend to support that party´s nominee in the general election. The law is all but unenforceable and is contradicted by other state statutes, but nevertheless it has gotten a lot of attention over the past week. The reason: Democratic operative James "Scooby Doo" Warren confirmed to me that he was working on behalf of the Mississippi Conservatives PAC on a statewide get-out-the-vote project in predominantly black precincts. Warren also said that while he´s happy to do the work, he will be supporting Travis Childers, the

RINOs having open primaries tells what the ground rules are going on here.

Just like what is coming to Preezy primaries in the RINO states - well before the conservative states get a crack. Enough of putting up with this.

Just in case anyone needed another reason to vote for McDaniel. The lifer on the dole, Cochran, will do anything to stay in his cushy globe-traveling ´job´.

If he loses, then his employee/landlady/whatever would have to pay for her world travel. We have already paid for her vacations in 40 countries!

Term limits! That is the only way to get ride of leeches like Cochran, Rangel, Pelosi, Reid and others.

Time to flush the toilet!

Seems like a Dem voting for Cochran could, in good conscience, do so in that he would be willing to vote for Cochran again in November. He would be willing to vote Cochran (or simply not vote) - given that any preferred Dem candidate hasn´t a snowball´s chance in Hell of getting elected anyway.

Trying to enforce a closed primary in a one-party state (MS, AL, MA, etc.) is futile. The main event IS the primary - the general election just an afterthought. If MS was to rigorously enforce a closed primary, voters would quickly adapt and you would see a whole bunch of black republicans (definitely RINOs) .

When you have a two party state (most states) crossovers are less likely to occur as the Dems usually have something on their ballot they are interested in. What you do not want, however, are Dem and GOP primaries on different dates - then you get the possible situation where folks could vote in both.

The actions in MS and in other primaries reveal why the GOP Elites hate "purists". Yet, let one of us even hint that voting Democrat in KY or TN or OH next NOvember (and believe me, that would be like taking Castor oil for us) might be an appropriate tactical move to break the stranglehold that the CofC and Wall Street have on the GOP: well, that´s "pure" heresy, of course! /s

Exactly how would putting more Democrats to the Senate and House in November 2014 break the stranglehold the Chamber of Commerce and Wall Street have on the GOP? Particularly in the case of Wall Street, which has a preponderance of big money Democrat-supporters already.

I live in AND vote Mississippi. I was told by an election worker when I first voted, that I could not vote in a party´s run-off election if I hadn´t first voted in the party´s primary. As in it was illegal.

It is very easy to prevent cross-over voting in run-offs, simply use the primary voting rolls. If your name wasn´t checked in the primary, you can´t vote in the run-off.

In Tuesday’s Republican primary runoff in Mississippi, Chris McDaniel could have run on an economic growth platform and won, but he chose to run as a clueless conservative, and he lost. The lesson from this race is clear. If conservatives forget that economic growth is the signature Republican issue, they should expect to lose. Yes, the actions taken by the Republican establishment to help incumbent senator Thad Cochran were egregious and disgusting, but if McDaniel had given the electorate any sign that he knew how to fix the economy (which is the voters’ #1 concern right now), he would have won

He’s the increasing rare Republican who doesn’t outright frighten the electorate. And the way things are going, the Indiana governor might end up being the last candidate standing. Even at a gathering of Republican bigwigs who have come together on the occasion of a speech by Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, it is hard to find very many people who are very excited about Mike Pence. And so in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel in midtown Manhattan, at the annual New York State Republican Party dinner, two top GOP operatives were lifting up their pant legs to compare their respective argyle socks,

A shocking new report from the Center for Immigration Studies claims to prove that every single new job created in America for the last fourteen years has gone to immigrants, legal and illegal. This would fly in the face of those who claim that immigration is an economic boon to native born Americans: The CIS report found that over the last 14 years, people who were born in the United States held 114.8 million jobs in 2000, and held 114.7 million jobs in 2014, a drop of 127,000. But it’s an entirely different picture for immigrants — 5.7 million more

Bill and Hillary Clinton discussed the future president’s compulsive personality, his struggles with the loneliness of public office, his ambitions for the future, and the future first lady’s career and hopes for her daughter Chelsea in a series of interviews with an Arkansas journalist between 1983 and 1987. The interviews, recorded on more than five hours of audiotape and donated to the University of Arkansas Special Collections archives by the Arkansas reporter Roy Reed, were supposed to make the pages of Esquire. Hillary appears poised to win the Democratic nomination and then the presidency — again. “Again” is the problem with such a prediction, and it should raise questions not only unasked, but apparently subconsciously avoided. The core question is whether or not the notion of Hillary Clinton as a political titan is more myth than reality. By all accounts, Hillary Rodham had a stellar academic career – and a very politically active one. At Wellesley College she was the first student to deliver its commencement address. She had her pick of Harvard or Yale for law school. When she graduated from Yale

Malaysia Airlines (MASM.KL) Flight MH370 was most likely on autopilot when it crashed into the Indian Ocean further south than previously thought, Australian officials said on Thursday, as they charted the next phase of a so far fruitless search. The new analysis comes more than 100 days after the Boeing (BA.N) 777, carrying 239 passengers and crew, disappeared on March 8 shortly after taking off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing. Investigators say what little evidence they have to work with suggests the plane was deliberately diverted thousands of kilometres from its scheduled route before eventually plunging into the Indian Ocean. I’m gratified that Senator Paul responded to my criticism of the constitutionality of his plan for a federal bill to reenfranchise some felons, but I’m afraid that his response is quite unpersuasive. Senator Paul seems to think that states can decide who votes in state elections but that the federal government has the final say on who can vote in federal elections, but that is just not true. The U.S. Constitution itself explicitly gives the authority to decide who votes in federal elections to the states (consistent, of course, with other constitutional guarantees, like the prohibition of poll taxes). Republicans are in the strongest position to win back the Senate since losing it eight years ago. Over several months, the party has expanded its range of targeted seats, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has helped defeat insurgents it didn’t want representing the GOP in the midterm elections. Decades of socialist/progressive indoctrination in our schools, media, and culture, plus six years of Obama, have yielded a devastating unspoken consequence. It is the loss of who we use to be as Americans. In his 1961 Inaugural Address, President John F. Kennedy said, “My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” Democrats have perverted Kennedy´s inspiring challenge. Their dispiriting goal is to have as many Americans as possible controlled by and dependent on government, even for life itself, which is at the root of ObamaCare.
