Presbyterians Become the Silly Church
American Spectator, by Mark Tooley

Original Article

At one point during this this week’s General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the hundreds of delegates, known as commissioners, gleefully bounced scores of red balloons in the air. At another point, they collectively broke into dance, confirming that most Protestants, especially if they’re old, white and Anglo, don’t look so great wiggling around. (Here’s a video, for mature viewers only.) Mainline Protestantism, at least in its official curia, has been liberal for nearly 100 years. But for most of that century it was a thoughtful, dignified liberalism that still roughly adhered to historic Christianity’s moral architecture, even if it

This latest move by the Presbyterian heirarchy doesn´t surprise me in the least. As with many former mainstream Protestant churches, the upper echelon of the organization has been taken over and is being held hostage by self-styled reformers whose humanist attitudes are virtually indistinguishable from agnosticism.
When I was a university student, I knew one of these individuals who is now surely one of these delegates. A bitter loner of indeterminant sexual orientation and a deep hatred for traditional religion, this person went on to enter seminary and become one of the deacons of the Presbyterian church. Last time I spoke with him, he was living alone with his dog in the Southwest and was some sort of high-placed Presbyterian elder involved in any number of extreme leftwing social and environmental causes. Following a heated debate over the church´s stance on gun control, we never spoke again. Unfortunately for Christianity and for America, this sort of confused, bitter liberal is exactly the sort of person who has come to represent the directorship of the Presbyterian church.

My forebears, staunch Presbyterians who served their church as deacons, elders, members and leaders of the session, etc., are spinning in their graves.

If you´re conservative and Presbyterian, try the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). It´s pretty large as sub-demonimations go, but doesn´t go for the "silliness" of the PCUSA.

Presbyterians (PC USA) Become the Demonically Controlled and Even More Irrelevant Church--

That should be the headline. If you´re looking for some free Bibles and can´t find a Gideon-- ask any PC USA church for one of their pew Bibles. There´s enough dust on them to write the word "damnation" with your finger!

Curious, I went to the PCUSA website. Looks more like a club then a church. If you are serious about exploring the mystery of the Incarnation, the Trinity, the salvation of man through divine grace? Would you join this church?

Even though the PCUSA has always been a bit dotty and a lot liberal, the PCA breakaway Church has at least tried to maintain its biblical adherence. Sadly, even our Churches are falling onto the tracks of political liberalism with this latest divestiture of Israeli-made products.

Non-denominational Churches are springing up like mushrooms in reaction to the liberalizing of mainline Church doctrine.

Even during Jesus´ time, He separated out one´s faith from one´s politics ("Render unto Caesar"...etc.), with the only exception being where God´s law was being broken in favor of civil law.

But today´s Churches have ceased preaching Jesus´ Gospel and have invested in preaching liberalism´s gospel.

We cannot say we were not warned in Scripture about the failure of the Churches. This is what it looks like when men and women usurp God´s law.

I had an established Bible Study fall into my lap to teach at the Presbyterian USA Church I attend. I was looking forward to teaching it in the Fall but have just today contacted the Pastor about this latest anti-Israel stance. If he doesn´t assure me that this abyssmal decision hasn´t filtered down to our local Church, guess who will leave this Church?

I hope this latest PCUSA nonsense doesn´t slop over & soil the PCA among those who don´t know the difference.

By the way, the PCA is GROWING! Guess who ISN´T.

Evidently, the "Grand Kahunas," at the 221st General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church (USA), forgot to consult The Holy Scriptures before making this absolutely outrageous decision:

"I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

God is not the "author of confusion". A return to His Word and obedience to His Will is sorely needed for the sake of our souls.

Jesus prayed earnestly to the Father on behalf of those who would believe:

John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

In fact, the exodus from the PCUSA after the marriage vote may increase for congregations and individuals. Many exiting PCUSA churches have joined the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, while others helped create a new denomination called the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. Despite the impact on denominational finances, PCUSA elites, committed more to the Left than to the church’s health, seem mostly indifferent.

I recently heard a former Presbyterian pastor (now Catholic) say that today there are now about 33,000 sects - all offshoots from mainline Protestantism. All using the same "Book" but teaching different things.

Massachusetts now forced into border spat

It’s finally been confirmed what was suspected all along — Massachusetts is feeling the pain of the chaotic border crisis. Forget the denials. Secret flights of illegal immigrants have made their way to Bedford and Boston. I guess Attorney General Martha Coakley and state police are out of the loop because they said in recent weeks they had no knowledge of it. We’ve learned from immigration officials that four planes filled with detainees nabbed on the border landed at Hanscom Field and Logan International Airport since April as the U.S. scrambles to cap the immigration crisis. Three other flights chartered by President Obama’s immigration

Even before the shooting stops between Israel and Palestinian terrorists, the one guarantee is that Israel will get most of the blame. Already the demands from the United Nations that Israel show “restraint” are as predictable as Palestinian rockets. The tiny Jewish state is under fierce attack, with millions of its citizens spending long hours in bomb shelters. Yet any response beyond a mere t*t-for-tat is labeled disproportionate, putting Israel in the impossible position of being damned if it does and doomed if it doesn’t. Of course, it must strike back hard, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears resolved that the Hamas

NASHVILLE — Republican candidates for governor around the country have built an unexpectedly strong position for election this fall, helped by an improving economy, disaffection with President Obama and a national fund-raising machine that is leagues ahead of the opposition. Four years after an economic crisis and opposition to Mr. Obama’s health care law propelled Republicans to capture a lopsided majority of statehouses across the country, they are faced with a staggering political task: defending 22 of the 36 executive mansions that will be up for grabs in November, led by a governor who is trying to rebound from a

John Hickenlooper the other day, without the noir atmosphere of his furtive visits to pool halls with his grandfather as a kid, when he felt “the enticement of darkness and the click of the cue ball, and the jukebox flashing its red and green lights.” Obama’s game the other day was bright and cheery, as one would expect of a president who didn’t have any depressing visits to frightened ranchers, overwhelmed border agents or desperate migrants on his future itinerary.
