Officials seeking shelter for
young illegal immigrants thought
Island hotel was vacant

Buffalo News, by Jerry Zremski

WASHINGTON – A humanitarian tragedy at the U.S.-Mexican border took a weirdly comic turn in Grand Island on Friday, as federal officials showed up at what they thought was a vacant hotel that might be able to house children who entered the country illegally – only to discover the fully occupied and recently renamed Byblos Niagara Resort and Spa. [Snip] The hotel is located at 100 Whitehaven Road in residential Grand Island, where neighborhood residents might feel uncomfortable with children who entered the country illegally moving in nearby

Comments:
Wow! This is happening in Upstate NY, north of Buffalo on the U.S.-Canadian border. FTA: “The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and General Services Administration will be conducting an initial assessment . . to determine whether it may be used as a facility for temporarily housing children who have come into the United States from other countries without an adult guardian" - email from Fatima Cuevas, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislation, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

wrong approach.
The correct approach, and I believe the only proper approach, is to repatriate ALL of these foreign invaders within hours of first being found within the borders.
Why some imbeciles allowed conditions such that they were able to cross the border in the first place is a separate, though vitally important matter.
But we have ZERO responsibility to house, feed, diaper, and medicate ANY of these invaders. Send them back to Honduras or Guatemala or El Salvador, or Wales, for that matter. They do not belong here. And the return and ALL incurred expenses to be borne by the nation(s) of origin.
And why do we still not have land mines along the border?

I´ll bet good money these immigrant "children" are of voting age and being sheltered in or near voting districts that are questionable for Democrats.

Ok. I read the piece twice and if it ever stated that anyone checked to see if the "vacant" and "closed" property BELONGED to anyone, I missed it. If I close up my hotel and it stands vacant, that doesn´t mean the federal government can decide to squat in it.

What a mess.

There are five perfect places, uninhabited for much of the year, where these kids could go and enjoy a variety of healthy outdoor lifestyles and educational opportunities:

1. Ski lodge in Idaho, worth $5 million
2. Ocean-front estate on Nantucket, worth $9 million.
3. Townhouse in Boston, worth $7 million.
4. Country estate in Pennsylvania, worth $4 million.
5. Townhouse in Georgetown, worth $5 million.

I´m sure Mr. and Mrs. John Kerry would be happy to comply, since they don´t use the places much of the time. It´s for the children!

This is the limit!

Good old Fatima at HHS (she probably worked on Obamacare, too):

Local officials and members of Congress did not know the building was under consideration for housing children living in the country without legal permission until Friday afternoon, when they received an email from Fatima A. Cuevas, deputy assistant secretary for legislation at the Department of Health and Human Services, where the Administration for Children and Families’ Office of Refugee Resettlement is trying to accommodate all the new arrivals.

“The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and General Services Administration will be conducting an initial assessment of Lexington Commerce Center in Rochester, NY (located at 1600 Lexington Ave.) and the Byblos Niagara Resort in Grand Island, NY (located at 100 Whitehaven Road) to determine whether it may be used as a facility for temporarily housing children who have come into the United States from other countries without an adult guardian,” wrote Cuevas. Asked via email about how HHS ended up inspecting a fully occupied resort and spa, Kenneth J. Wolfe, a spokesman for the Administration for Children and Families, did not reply.

Fatima the brave even knew the new name of this hotel and included it in her email!

DETROIT – The funeral for Ralph C. Senior Obama administration officials’ closed-door briefing to senators Tuesday night revealed that the White House did not anticipate and was not prepared for the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS), which has wreaked havoc in Iraq and seized many key cities in recent weeks. Top State Department and Defense Department officials joined senators Tuesday evening for a briefing on the quickly developing chaos in Iraq and future U.S. plans for a response. Sources familiar with the brief said that the administration officials repeated talking points issued over the past several days in both open and

With a surprisingly wide margin of victory, Congressman James Lankford won the Oklahoma Republican U.S. Senate primary, defeating former Speaker of the State House of Representatives T.W. Shannon by 23 points and avoiding a runoff election. Lankford now becomes the prohibitive favorite to replace outgoing Senator Tom Coburn, who is retiring with two years remaining in his current term. This was a very different race from the one taking place in Mississippi. Despite negative ads run against Lankford by conservative groups, the Oklahoma contest was not an example of an “establishment” Republican or RINO versus a Tea Party candidate. In

Hillary Clinton has a “secret deal” with her top aide Huma Abedin to keep her troublesome husband Anthony Weiner out of the spotlight, sources tell Page Six, as the former secretary of state mulls a run for president. Clinton aides have insisted Weiner “stay out of public life for two years,” and that he “avoid causing any further embarrassment to Huma or Clinton,” according to our sources. The former sexting pol has been noticeably absent at recent public events attended by Abedin, including the Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner in Manhattan earlier this month. With Iraq in danger of falling apart, new troubles on the Mexican border and other problems mounting up in Washington, President Obama on Thursday will try to the shift the narrative by reconnecting with average Americans. The president will travel to Minneapolis on Thursday and spend a day “in the shoes” of a mystery woman identified only as Rebekah. The woman, whose last name has yet to be revealed, recently wrote a letter to Mr. Obama, inspiring the president to visit her and learn more about her daily struggles. The White House is painting Thursday’s event as the first in

Thad Cochran’s political resurrection began with a campaign shakeup and ended with a Hail Mary television ad. Just three weeks ago, in the dead of night on June 3, the Mississippi senator’s staff sat shaken and dejected, crestfallen at the results of a primary that deprived the six-term incumbent of an electoral majority. With Cochran forced into a runoff fight against an aggressive and energetic challenger, a dark mood shadowed his backers in Washington and Mississippi.Yet almost immediately, the Cochran coalition began bouncing back. Even on that gloomy night of June 3, Cochran adviser Stuart Stevens was insisting to staffers: “We’re

President Obama is now reaching terminal velocity, like a skydiver plunging toward earth. Except he doesn’t have a parachute. There’s a mighty splat coming soon. With his approval rating at 40 percent, down 6 points from early June, and just 29 percent of Americans convinced the country is on the “right track,” the president is doubling down on his strategy of blaming Republicans for his failures. And he’s shifting into hyperpartisan drive, traveling the country to campaign for Democrats, many of whom wish he’d just stay away. Worse, the news just keeps getting well, worse: The Veterans Affairs scandal is blazing, with

Ordinarily, President Obama’s days are planned out to the smallest detail. But for his two-day excursion to Minnesota this week, the president boasted that he’s got little in the way of a formal agenda, has few firm plans, and warned Secret Service that he’s feeling “super loose” and could end up doing any number of things. “I don’t know. I’m just going to make it up as I go along,” Mr. Obama said during a town-hall meeting at Minneapolis’ Minnehaha Park, one of the few planned activities during his two-day stay in the Twin Cities. “I’m like a caged bear,

Lois Lerner, the controversial director of the tax-exempt organizations division at the Internal Revenue Service, has a long sordid history of targeting conservatives. Under the direction of Lois Lerner, the Federal Election Commission sued the Christian Coalition in the 1990s. She harassed the Christian Coalition for three election cycles. Eventually, she lost her case. At one point Lerner even asked a targeted conservative if Pat Robertson prayed over him. (Sound familiar?) In 1996, while at the FEC, Lois Lerner harassed Republican Senate candidate Al Salvi and made him this outrageous offer, “Promise me you will never run for office again, and

Republicans are in the strongest position to win back the Senate since losing it eight years ago. Over several months, the party has expanded its range of targeted seats, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has helped defeat insurgents it didn’t want representing the GOP in the midterm elections. This sober realization came to Democrats on Wednesday, as Tuesday night’s primary results showed they cannot count on Tea Party candidates upsetting more-electable incumbents. And Democrats are increasingly realizing that President Obama’s approval rating will probably remain mired at 45 percent or lower until

National conservative groups are angry after incumbent Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran pulled off a victory in the state’s GOP run-off — likely because of his campaign’s outreach to Democratic voters. “It’s disgraceful that self-described GOP leaders like Mitch McConnell, John McCain, the Chamber of Commerce and the NRSC would champion a campaign platform of pork barrel spending and insider deal-making, while recruiting Democrats to show up at the polls,” Matt Kibbe of FreedomWorks said after the results came in. Tuesday’s closely-watched run-off came after conservative state Sen. Chris McDaniel edged Cochran in votes in the initial election earlier this month.
