Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Phillips discovered the story of Marine Corporal Jason Dunham during one of his four embeddings with Third Battalion, Seventh Marines in Iraq. A few weeks after Dunham’s death in 2004, Michael learned that Corporal Dunham had been attacked by a black-clad Iraqi who leaped out of a car and grabbed him around the neck. As they fought hand to hand, the Iraqi dropped a hand grenade. Corporal Dunham instantaneously made the decision to place his helmet and body over the grenade to shield his colleagues from the blast. Corporal Dunham saved his colleagues, but eight

I have heard this self-effacing young man speak, and he does bring honor to the Marine Corps, and the United States of America.

Remember folks, "Those that did, won´t tell you all about it, those who didn´t will tell you all about it".

Gender loses its impact with the young

They´re young. They like things their way. They don´t like stereotypes and steer clear of conformity. Because young people ages 34 and younger are legions larger than the dominant-until-now-Baby Boom generation, their likes and dislikes command lots of attention. High on their list is gender identity — a concept they´re increasingly resisting. "Gender stereotypes are conformity," says Jamie Gutfreund, chief strategy officer of The Intelligence Group, a consumer insights and strategy group based in Los Angeles whose summer/fall 2013 report about gender paints a vivid portrait of younger generations´ attitudes. The survey reveals that

Black voter turnout important

WASHINGTON – Black voters in the South could be key to victories for incumbent senators trying to hold onto their seats in Mississippi and Louisiana, political experts say. Much of that impact will depend on whether enough blacks show up at the polls in Mississippi Tuesday or in Louisiana in the fall. Both races are among the most competitive in the country.(Snip) Political experts say it is a balancing act for the incumbents, particularly in the conservative South, to court black voters who could help shore up a win, but be careful not to alienate white voters. "That's always been the delicate game in Southern politics," said Joshua Stockley,

SAN FRANCISCO- President Barack Obama, who established his bona fides as a gay and lesbian rights champion when he endorsed same-sex marriage, has steadily extended his administration´s advocacy to the smallest and least accepted band of the LGBT rainbow: transgender Americans. With little of the fanfare or criticism that marked his evolution into the leader Newsweek nicknamed "the first gay president," Obama became the first chief executive to say "transgender" in a speech, to name transgender political appointees and to prohibit job bias against transgender government workers. Also in his first term, he signed hate crime

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — The nation´s most populous prison system, facing legal actions and criticism about inmates having to endure oppressive Texas summer heat, is looking to make conditions a bit more bearable at seven state lockups by installing cooling systems similar to those seen on the sidelines of early-season football games. Texas Department of Criminal Justice officials insist the new cooling devices are not in response to numerous lawsuits alleging triple-digit temperature readings inside prison buildings are improperly cruel punishment and have led to inmates´ deaths. Thousands of Immigrants Stuck in

HOUSTON, Texas--Thousands of illegal immigrants--most of whom are from Central America--continue to cross the U.S.-Mexico border each day, but there are many who never complete the dangerous journey north because they run out of money. The trip from Central America can be a life-threatening one, but rumors of "amnesty" have only caused more immigrants to make it to the U.S. at any cost. Zack Taylor, Chairman of the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, told Breitbart Texas that smugglers typically charge hopeful foreigners hundreds of dollars to take them from their home countries to the

Donald Trump wanted to give the Central Park Five the chair. Now he doesn’t want the city to give them a dime. In an exclusive piece for the Daily News, Trump quoted an unnamed detective who called the $40 million settlement the city has agreed to pay the wrongfully convicted quintet “the heist of the century.” “The recipients must be laughing out loud at the stupidity of the city,” Trump, who is worth about $4 billion, wrote. “Speak to the detectives on the case and try listening to the facts. A proposal for the University of Pennsylvania to divest its $7.7 billion endowment from tobacco stocks died Friday without a vote by the board of trustees. Board chairman David L. Cohen said tobacco does not qualify as a "moral evil" - a criterion for divestment under Penn´s policy - even though it causes serious health problems. "Let me be clear," Cohen said on the floor of the trustees meeting on campus Friday, "I am no friend of tobacco. I don´t use tobacco products. I´ve never used tobacco products. And I strongly prefer not to be around when others are using tobacco

In the defining situation room photo of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, Hillary Clinton is the center of the dramatic action, hand over mouth. Actually, it was probably just a scratchy throat, she said as secretary of State: "I am somewhat sheepishly concerned that it was my preventing one of my early spring allergic coughs. So, it may have no great meaning whatsoever." But candidate Clinton now says otherwise. "We watched it all in real time, the helicopters that landed in the courtyard of Osama´s compound, our SEALs that attacked the building, the helicopter´s tail that hit the

Like fellow veterans of the Iraq war, I’ve watched the events of recent weeks with a combination of anger, helplessness, and disillusionment. So many gains reversed and so many lives lost — and for what? The American lives given heroically in Iraq were not in vain, but a legacy is a terrible thing to waste — just ask Vietnam veterans. The implications of radical Islamists’ capturing large — and significant — swaths of Iraq and threatening Baghdad are so much greater than any soldier, unit, deployment, or decision. Iraq veterans are wringing our hands over events, but we did all

Is that a smoking gun I smell? It turns out the IRS contracted with a company that provides email backup services starting in 2005. A secret plan to aid the Iraqi army in its fight against Al Qaeda-aligned Sunni Muslim militants was authorized by President Barack Obama late last year, but was handicapped by a lack of resources and mistrust over Iran´s influence on the government of Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, according to a published report. According to the Wall Street Journal, the White House initially devoted only a small group of specialists to the task of gathering intelligence on the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS). It has become a daily frightening occurrence, hearing politicians, commentators, pundits, and stunned Americans say, “That´s outrageous!” “He can´t do that!” “No way!” “It´s against federal law!” “They have no legal authority to force us to do that!” These comments are in response to the daily unprecedented out-of-control tyranny handed down by Obama and his operatives. I have been listening all week to TV pundits lamenting that Lois Lerner’s hard drive has been destroyed, and therefore her e-mails are lost. This is simply not the case. I never cease to be amazed at the lack of understanding of how the e-mail system works. When you write an e-mail, it goes to your server to be sent to the person you e-mailed. Your server keeps a copy of that e-mail, and of all your e-mails – sent and received. When you create all the folders in your e-mail program that you use to save e-mails in...these are also

WASHINGTON -- The commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service refused to apologize to Congress for losing e-mails related to its targeting of conservative groups, saying it´s still attempting to recover the data and it´s too soon to know how many e-mails are missing. The Obama administration’s claim to have been surprised by the wave of children flooding over out borders may turn out to be another political lie of the year. Sundance of Conservative Treehouse noticed a very peculiar advertisement: On January 29th of this year, the federal government posted an advertisement seeking bids for a vendor contract to handle “Unaccompanied Alien Children“. Not just any contract mind you, but a very specific contract – for a very specific number of unaccompanied minors: 65,000. • Why would DHS and ICE be claiming “surprise” by the current influx of unaccompanied minors on the border

A lot of people don’t understand that.” O´Reilly made his remarks about being a "fact-based guy" days after he tried to convince his viewers that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) did not lose his primary race last week to Dave Brat because of the amnesty issue. President Obama told his Mexican counterpart in a phone call Thursday that immigrants crossing into the U.S. illegally won’t qualify for legalized status or deferred deportation, including children. The White House said Mr. Obama and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto discussed “a regional strategy” to address the surge of unaccompanied children coming from Central America, through Mexico, to the U.S. With thousands of children trying to enter the U.S. illegally in recent months, Vice President Joseph R. Biden will visit Guatemala on Friday. Mr. Biden will warn officials and parents that illegal immigration is dangerous and that youth won’t be allowed to stay

The U.S. is leading by example in promoting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) rights at home and around the world, Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday. He said the federal government recognizes same-sex marriages of foreign diplomats stationed in the U.S., and it expects all other countries to do the same in their treatment of U.S. personnel deployed abroad. “Let me be clear: We oppose any effort by any country to deny visas for spouses of American staff,” he said. “It’s discriminatory, it’s unacceptable, it has no place in the 21st century.”
