Durham, NC -The Army has demoted Brig. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sinclair two levels in rank for sexual misconduct following his guilty pleas at a court-martial earlier this year, the Army secretary announced Friday. Secretary of the Army John McHugh said Sinclair, once a rising star in the Army, will be forced to retire as a lieutenant colonel. Sinclair, who pleaded guilty to adultery, improper relationships with female officers and other crimes, was fined $20,000 at his court-martial in March but avoided jail. In tumultuous proceedings at Ft. Bragg, N.C., that embarrassed both Sinclair and the Army, the general admitted an

The security vacuum in the Middle East that has allowed an extremist group to advance through regions of Iraq and Syria would have opened up regardless of whether the United States had decided last year to back moderate rebel forces in war-torn Syria, President Obama said during an interview with "CBS This Morning" host Norah O´Donnell."I think this notion that somehow there was this ready-made moderate Syrian force that was able to defeat [Syrian President Bashar] Assad is simply not true, and, you know, we have spent a lot of time trying to work with a moderate opposition in Syria,"

HOUSTON, Texas—Militia groups in Texas and across the nation are responding to the Texas Border Surge announced Wednesday night by the offices of the Governor, Lt. Governor and Texas House Speaker. An announcement was made on several new media outlets including Facebook. The alert to the civilian militia groups, which includes many groups who showed up at the Clive Bundy ranch in Nevada, calls on all able bodied militia members to converge on the Laredo sector of the Texas/Mexico border. A man who identified himself on a national conference call as “Ruthless” said their objective it to “put up a

LAWRENCEVILLE, Virginia— Over 1,000 angry residents of the small, rural town here gathered at Brunswick High School on Thursday and reamed out local, state, and federal government officials for offering the St. Paul’s College building as temporary emergency shelter for 500 unaccompanied alien children (UACs) coming from Texas. St. Paul’s, a historically black college, shut down five years ago after losing its accreditation. “Right now we have a town—I can go home. I can get supper. At 9 o´clock at night I can come back to my office by myself, go in there and do work, come out at 11:30,

As Scott noted earlier today, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen testified before the House and Ways and Means Committee this morning. Koskinen was grilled about Lois Lerner’s lost emails, and was unapologetic. It is clear that the IRS made no systematic effort to retain emails beyond six months, and Koskinen testified that this is OK because emails are not necessarily “records.” Documents that are not “records” can be deleted at will. Koskinen’s position is tenuous, however, in light of the broad definition of “record” under federal law. This is from the Internal Revenue Service Manual: 1.15.2.2 (08-30-2013) -Definition of Records -According

Making progress at whittling down a once-enormous debt, the Democratic National Committee on Friday reported it had reduced its level money owed to less than $5 million for the first time since July 2012. The DNC raised $8.6 million in May but still owed $4.9 million to vendors who produce campaign ads, mail and data providers. The central party also reported it had $7.9 million in the bank. The Republican National Committee also faced a Friday deadline to report its fundraising in May. The GOP´s central committee had not yet filed its forms. The DNC amassed significant debt as it spent

The Obama administration’s latest proposal to curb carbon emissions at existing power plants threatens to drive up energy costs, Murray Energy chief executive Robert Murray tells FOX Business Network’s Neil Cavuto. Murray and the company he founded have filed four lawsuits against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over regulations that target the coal industry. Four state attorneys general have joined those efforts. Earlier this week, Murray Energy sued the EPA over a new set of rules that aim to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by 30% from 2005 levels. The proposed regulations raised more questions over the future of the coal industry and electricity

MADISON, Miss. —Ladies and gentlemen, the circus has come to Madison County. As the wild Republican Senate runoff here tumbles to a climax next week, what began as a bare-bones campaign against Sen. Thad Cochran has bloomed into a full-blown political carnival. Insurgent conservative Chris McDaniel, once viewed as a gadfly state legislator propped up by a lonely pair of well-funded national groups, is now at the center of a colorful and unwieldy activist entourage scrambling to grab a piece of his anticipated success. The names and faces crowding around McDaniel would be familiar to voters in any number of

Speaker John Boehner blasted the White House over a range of issues — from Iraq to the blooming scandals with Veterans Affairs and the Internal Revenue Service — saying the perception of a casual observer might be that the president doesn’t really have a clue. “You look at this presidency, and you can’t help but get the sense that the wheels are coming off,” Mr. Boehner said, The Hill reported. Mr. Boehner also pointed to Mr. Obama’s overseas policy as a particular failure — a view that seems to be shared by most of America, given recent poll numbers finding

Rep. Trey Gowdy took a time-out from the somber cause of politicking to tell a two-plus minute story of his recent dream that opened: Speaker John Boehner, Sen. Lindsey Graham and Maryland’s Rep. Andy Harris all died and went to Heaven. “I had a horrible dream last night,” he began, to a Maryland GOP crowd. “In my dream, John Boehner, Lindsay Graham and Andy Harris all tragically died and went to Heaven on the same day. It could happen, I guess … for two of them for sure.” So St. Peter approached and said, “Look, I know you’re big shots

It has become a daily frightening occurrence, hearing politicians, commentators, pundits, and stunned Americans say, “That´s outrageous!” “He can´t do that!” “No way!” “It´s against federal law!” “They have no legal authority to force us to do that!” These comments are in response to the daily unprecedented out-of-control tyranny handed down by Obama and his operatives. Hillary Clinton — the woman assumed to be the next Democratic Party presidential nominee and quite possibly the next president — is evidently a big snooze. According to Mediate, her interviews to promote her book on CNN and Fox had underwhelming numbers. In the case of Greta Van Susteren’s show, she sent people fleeing midway. More importantly, her book itself is a sales disappointment and, I would wager, even more disappointing if you could ascertain how many who did buy it read actually past page 15. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in single digits. No, I haven’t read it

In short, the poll is nothing but bad news for the president. The survey would appear to be so bad, in fact, that NBC News´ Chuck Todd said Tuesday that the poll basically means the public has declared the Obama presidency to be

The White House said Mr. Obama and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto discussed “a regional strategy” to address the surge of unaccompanied children coming from Central America, through Mexico, to the U.S. With thousands of children trying to enter the U.S. illegally in recent months, Vice President Joseph R.
