George Will: ‘I take sexual

Hot Air, by Noah Rothman

The conservative columnist George Will found himself in a firestorm of controversy and faced the inevitable calls from his progressive critics for his voice to be silenced after he wrote a controversial column about how colleges prosecute accusations of sexual abuse and dating violence. Both men and women are troubled by how campuses are handling cases of alleged sexual assault. Will highlighted a growing concern among students and parents over the increasing frequency of accusations of sexual misconduct, and the appearance that the accused are often presumed guilty before being proven innocent. “Questions about sexual assault policies in higher education

Societal behavior in this area has extablished not only that a man accused of sexual assault is guilty, without the benefit of due process to protect him from false accusations, but also that anybody who balks at declaring him guilty is in favor of sexual assault.

George Will has the courage to take a stand on this that makes him a target of people more hate-driven than anyone you or I are liable to meet in our lifetime.

You go, George! His dry but cogent analyses make his views compelling. He and Krauthammer provide reasons for the miniscule respect I have for the Washington Post.

California: Pro-Business Latino

The burgeoning power of the Latino community in California was illustrated this week by the death of a minimum wage hike proposal in the state Assembly. Despite the fact that the pro-business Latino Caucus is comprised totally of Democrats, one of its members abstained from supporting the bill. It seems the Department of Homeland Security doesn´t know how many stars and stripes there are on the American flag. A DHS press release, dated June 20, commemorated the June 17th naturalization of 15 new US citizens, noting the "15 stars and stripes" on the U.S. flag. The problem is that the American Flag doesn´t have 15 stars and stripes; it has had 13 stripes since the Act of April 4, 1818, was signed by President James Monroe, and 50 stars since 1960, after Hawaii became a state the year before. "These 15 candidates, symbolically representing the 15 stars and

On Thursday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” State Sen. Chris McDaniel, the Republican candidate in last Tuesday’s GOP primary that fell just shy of defeating long-time incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS), reacted to the outcome. McDaniel laid out his Republican credentials and questioned why some within his state’s Republican Party had gone to such lengths to for Cochran. “It was shocking,” McDaniel said. “I’m a two-term state senator. I’ve been a Republican since I was 13-years old. I’ve paid my dues. I’ve gone door to door. I’ve given money. I considered these men and woman to be my friends

A new document released this week in Rome puts a wet blanket on the hopes of many Church progressives. The working document in preparation for the global Synod of Bishops reasserts core Church teachings on controversial issues the left had hoped would change. The paper is not a teaching document, but rather a report of sorts drawn from suggestions of national bishops conferences around the world, and is intended to inform the dialogue at the upcoming Extraordinary Synod of Bishops that convenes this October in Rome. This Pope has raised progressive hopes repeatedly since his elevation to the Papacy. Last

‘Remarkably Myopic’?
New York Sun, by Editorial    Original Article

It looks like the Gray Lady needs to get a new pair of glasses. As recently as January it used the phrase “remarkably myopic” to describe an appeals court ruling against President Obama’s abuse of the recess appointment power. Not only did the Times use the word “myopic” but they also called the ruling an “absurdity.” Yet when the Supreme Curt took at look at the Appeals Court decision and unfurled its eye chart, the letters on the top line spelled out “A-F-F-I-R-M-E-D.” Think they’ll be able to make out the small print on the next line? Here’s what it says: “U-n-a-n-i-m-o-u-s.” The decision is being retailed as what the Times’

It’s hard to remember now. But one of the themes of Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign was “unity.” The soon-to-be president and his supporters hoped to transcend the deep partisan and ideological divisions in our society. For the most part, that hope has gone the way of George W. Bush’s promise that he was going to be “a uniterIn both today’s Noel Canning decision on recess appointments and yesterday’s cell phone search decision, the justices unanimously rejected the administration’s extreme positions, even though they disagreed on other issues involved in the two cases. , not a divider.” Perhaps no president could truly deliver on such a promise in this day and age. But President Obama has managed to create a measure of unity

It´s the first time in New Mexico´s 400-year history with the Roman Catholic Church that a decree opening the cause of beatification and canonization has been declared, church officials said. President Obama is now reaching terminal velocity, like a skydiver plunging toward earth. Except he doesn’t have a parachute. There’s a mighty splat coming soon. With his approval rating at 40 percent, down 6 points from early June, and just 29 percent of Americans convinced the country is on the “right track,” the president is doubling down on his strategy of blaming Republicans for his failures. And he’s shifting into hyperpartisan drive, traveling the country to campaign for Democrats, many of whom wish he’d just stay away. Lois Lerner, the controversial director of the tax-exempt organizations division at the Internal Revenue Service, has a long sordid history of targeting conservatives. Under the direction of Lois Lerner, the Federal Election Commission sued the Christian Coalition in the 1990s. She harassed the Christian Coalition for three election cycles. Eventually, she lost her case. At one point Lerner even asked a targeted conservative if Pat Robertson prayed over him. (Sound familiar?) In 1996, while at the FEC, Lois Lerner harassed Republican Senate candidate Al Salvi and made him this outrageous offer, “Promise me you will never run for office again, and

Republicans are in the strongest position to win back the Senate since losing it eight years ago. Over several months, the party has expanded its range of targeted seats, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has helped defeat insurgents it didn’t want representing the GOP in the midterm elections. This sober realization came to Democrats on Wednesday, as Tuesday night’s primary results showed they cannot count on Tea Party candidates upsetting more-electable incumbents. And Democrats are increasingly realizing that President Obama’s approval rating will probably remain mired at 45 percent or lower until

Comparisons between Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney have been greatly exaggerated, Hillary Clinton says. Clinton practically rolled with laughter when PBS’ Gwen Ifill noted humorlessly that her own husband has been “forced” to defend her recent comments about being “dead broke” after leaving the White House. What was humorous in that remarks is known only to Clinton. “I shouldn’t have said the, I think, five or so words that I said,” the former secretary of state said. “My inartful use of those five words doesn’t change who I am.” Later in the interview, Ifill asked if Clinton had become the Democratic adaptation of

A shocking new report from the Center for Immigration Studies claims to prove that every single new job created in America for the last fourteen years has gone to immigrants, legal and illegal. This would fly in the face of those who claim that immigration is an economic boon to native born Americans: The CIS report found that over the last 14 years, people who were born in the United States held 114.8 million jobs in 2000, and held 114.7 million jobs in 2014, a drop of 127,000.
