Romney 4.0: Can Mitt
get his groove back?

Washington Examiner, by Brian Hughes

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 6/20/2014 12:47:17 PM

Mitt Romney, seen as too stiff and robotic to win over enough voters to claim the presidency in 2012, is undergoing his latest reboot, trying to become the Republican Party´s elder statesman in an Image overhaul different from his predecessors who lost their bids for the White House. Twenty years ago, Romney was a would-be giant killer, conservatives´ best hope to defeat liberal icon Sen. Ted Kennedy in 1994. Then he became the savior of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Utah, turned moderate Massachusetts governor. In 2012, he was a presidential candidate never fully embraced by his party. And now, he´s

And on and on it goes. Hughes states: "With the Republican Party lacking a true standard bearer, Romney could fill the void." No he can´t.

FTA - "Romney COULD fill the void" not exactly a great acclamation of faith, more like being damned with faint praise.

The floated the Jeb Bush balloon and it popped so now they´re back to another tired loser. Mitt may be nice guy, but he´s NOT conservative nor a winner. I will not vote for him again.

If the GOP ran the same motley crew as they did in 2012, Romney would very likely emerge, once again, as the last man standing.

If true-conservatives want better nominees they are going to have to find better candidates.

There is no one, I repeat no one, being discussed for a 2016 run on the GOP ticket that I won´t vote for. There are several I like and several I would hate to see get the nomination, but I will vote for any of them. Any of ours are way better than the best on the Dem side. The country is at stake, my friends. Personal pique has to be cast aside.

But, Governor Romney isn´t going to run.

#18 may be confusing George Romney with Harold Stassen - who ran for Prez regularly between the years 1944 and 1992. George Romney, as far as Google will let on, ran only once - in 1968.

While I´m at it, I say Amen to #19. My only concern with Cruz is that the press will be all over him - but how is that different from what they did to Mitt?

But what really confounds me are all the True Conservatives relentlessly trashing the actual 2012 candidate, one who barely lost to the popular(55% approval at the time) incumbent. Incumbents are nearly impossible to dislodge - two term Presidents are the norm for a reason.
Then these same True Conservatives bitterly complain that we not-so-true conservatives aren´t supporting their future favorites (Cruz, Palin, ???).

Like they say in the ads for the lottery: If you don´t play, you don´t win. If your true conservative darling isn´t running then your complaint, that we are not falling all over ourselves promising support, sounds a bit .. well ...nutty.

Abramson said she’s “never dealt with an administration where more officials… demand that everything be off the record.” She cited criminal investigations against journalists’ sources, including the current case involving Times reporter James Risen, to make the case of just how secretive the White House is. Attorney General Eric Holder granted an exclusive interview to ABC´s "This Week With George Stephanopoulos" from London, where he was portrayed by ABC as deeply concerned about the global terrorist threat. What stands out from this very rare session — Holder hasn´t been on Sunday network television in four years — is that Holder pulled out the oldest, lamest card in the Obama political deck: President Barack Obama and he are opposed by people who should be suspected of racism. And darned if he didn´t get away with it again. Pierre Thomas, ABC´s Justice Department correspondent, interviewed Holder and asked him why he

The New York Times has a piece out today which contains some new insight into the White House´s thinking about the border crisis and how it relates to the President´s stated goal of taking action on immigration without Congress. The central weakness of the Republican´s political position in Washington has been on vivid display as the situation at the southern border has devolved into a complete crisis. As tens of thousands of foreign nationals overwhelm the border and render our sovereign boundary meaningless, Republicans in DC are tinkering with legislative fixes they say will address the situation.
