St. Louis Paper Drops George Will
Column After ‘Offensive’ Rape Piece

Mediaite, by Josh Feldman

Original Article

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch posted an editor’s note online today informing readers they would no longer be carrying George Will‘s column after a controversial column he penned last week about rape and progressivism. Will said progressive thought made the idea of a rape victim a “coveted status” on college campuses that comes with certain privileges, a point that earned him condemnation from the National Organization for Women and a number of Democratic senators. The Washington Post is standing by Will for now, but the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which has syndicated Will’s column for a time, has dropped it, and they

If some insane radical leftist tries to tell you they are not destroying the right to free speech hand them a copy of this. And yet anyone who compares these radicals to a time in Nazi Germany they are condemned and ridiculed. They are really speaking the truth.

Yet, nothing but crickets from NOW when it comes to Sharia Law, or Pakistani gang rapes for young women for merely being seen in public with a male friend.

I´ve always wondered if the NOW thugs weren´t receiving hefty donations from Arab sources as "hush money?"

I don´t get your post, #5. Will´s hasn´t retreated from his editorial, has defended it publicly, and incidentally is syndicated -- this newspaper decided they made a mistake running it, not Will for writing it.

The point of his editorial has been widely misunderstood and mischaracterized. He was critical of the enshrinement of victimhood as a sacred status, using the current "rape culture" hysteria as its latest incarnation, and the discarding of due process by institutions in dealing with any and all claims, thus trampling the rights of the accused and expanding definitions to include any individual conduct later regretted by a "victim."

Privacy: President Obama promises your personal financial info will be safe in his Big Brother database, but the agency stockpiling that data by its own admission can´t keep other, less-sensitive info safe. Raising new data security and privacy fears, a former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau official has blown the whistle on the sievelike nature of the data the agency already is collecting and storing on consumers. Kevin Williams, a former CFPB quality-assurance monitor, testified before a House banking subcommittee that there have been a number of incidents in which a consumer accidentally received another consumer´s

Immigration: Three in five Americans say the tens of thousands of minors who have crossed the border "should be ordered to leave the U.S." What about that do the Congress and president not understand? The latest IBD/TIPP Poll, conducted June 24 to 29, asked those Americans who are following the story what to do about the influx of unaccompanied minors. Those saying that the government should order them to leave totaled 60%. Breaking that sizeable majority down, 64% of independents wanted the minors sent home, as did 40% of Democrats and 80% of Republicans. There were 879 Americans surveyed in

No one knows just how many tens of thousands of Central American nationals — most of them desperate, unescorted children and teens — are streaming across America´s southern border. Yet this phenomenon offers us a proverbial teachable moment about the paradoxes and hypocrisies of Latin American immigration to the U.S. For all the pop romance in Latin America associated with Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba, few Latinos prefer to immigrate to such communist utopias or to socialist spinoffs like Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador or Peru. Instead, hundreds of thousands of poor people continue to risk danger to enter democratic,

I´m sure that many wiil pass off what Reuters and Yahoo News have just been caught doing as some kind of an innocent mistake, and perhaps it was. But isn´t odd how often those "mistakes" so often end up giving President Obama and the left more credit than they deserve? Yesterday, a Reuters story at Yahoo News was headlined "President Obama Visits the Border." That´s a pretty remarkable headline, given Obama´s quite widely known refusal — except perhaps by low-information Yahoo readers — to visit the Texas-Mexico border or to visit facilities where Unaccompanied Alien Children are being detained by the

In a stunning display of callousness, the Defense Department has announced that thousands of soldiers — many serving as commanding officers in Afghanistan — will be notified in the coming weeks that their service to the country is no longer needed. Last week, more than 1,100 Army captains — the men and women who know best how to fight this enemy because they have experienced multiple deployments — were told they’ll be retired from the Army. The overall news is not unexpected. The Army has ended its major operations in Iraq and is winding down in Afghanistan. Budget cuts are projected to shrink the Army from its current

On Wednesday, Glenn Greenwald released the names of five Muslim-Americans on whom, he alleged, the FBI and the NSA have unfairly spied. However, what is clear after further investigation is that the five named individuals in the Greenwald expose’ have alleged ties to extremism, and also have allegedly engaged in radical activities. The first person on Greenwald’s list is Faisal Gill. Gill was a spokesman for the American Muslim Council (AMC) while under the leadership of now-jailed Islamist radical Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was indicted and pleaded guilty in 2003 for financing terrorism and assassination plots.

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

President Obama’s ultimate weakness may be that he believes his own blarney. A year ago, Mr. Obama boasted in a “fireside” Web chat that his “is the most transparent administration in history.” There was not the slightest hint of irony. He may actually believe it. In a testy letter to the president on Tuesday, the group decried the “slick non-answers” and cold shoulders they’re getting from Mr. Obama’s representatives, who have restricted access to any information they consider embarrassing to the administration. “The stifling of free expression,” the signers

Fate hasn´t been kind to Hillary Clinton, at least not in its most recent phase. In 2008, when the plate was set for the national Democrats, she lost the nomination to Barack Obama, of scant years and no gravitas, who soared out of nowhere to wrench destiny from her on the unspecified promise of "change." Now, "change" has come, and people don´t like it.
