Amanda Blackhorse on besting
Washington´s NFL team

Arizona Republic [Phoenix,AZ], by Megan Finnerty

Original Article

Posted By:Fiesta del sol, 6/19/2014 7:23:47 AM

Native American advocate Amanda Blackhorse was elated Wednesday after taking on and triumphing over one of the most powerful, profitable organizations in America: the National Football League. The United States Patent and Trademark Office cancelled the trademark registration for Washington Redskins Wednesday. The revocation of six of the team´s trademarks was necessary, the office ruled, because the football team´s name is "disparaging to Native Americans." The 32 year-old social worker, mother and activist insists this is only the beginning. "I was on my way to work when I heard it," said Blackhorse, who is Navajo, speaking today in a Skype

Comments:
Blackhorse is one of the 5!! people offended. BTW, I notice that the Republic must not be using the term ´Redskins´, now it´s Washington´s NFL team. Good grief, I am sick of all liberalism.

This has been done before. It lost in the courts, and so will this effort from a whiny squaw with two much time on her hands.

Of course, what those who say the term is disparaging to Native Americans overlook is that the team was originally named that in order to honour its then long-time coach, who was a Native American.

The more I read the angrier I get.

Who is she to claim the title ´Native American´? I am a native American, I was born and raised here.

The Indian tribal lore talks of ´Those who came before." Before what? Before the first of the modern Indian tribes came across the land bridge from Siberia.

So, she has no more claim to being Native American than I do.

Next: Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, NY Giants, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, etc. I am sure five people exist who are offended by any of the above team names. Then we get to baseball, college sports, the list could go on forever. All across our legal system we must enact LOSER PAYS to stop this madness. As the Eagles (the name offends bird lovers) said GET OVER IT.

In liberal world, there will be no football teams at all - just some futball teams with team names and mascots fashioned after those politically correct, vapid, nothings like Izzy from the ´96 Olympics in Atlanta.

Is it not ironic that someone who had a raging hatred of all things "Native American" and desired the ethnic cleansing of the culture from all references to the same would be trying to do the very same thing as Navajo Woman? Also ironic that the fact that these names were chosen to say something admirable about the teams is lost on the ethnic cleansers.

#3 hit it....why are we pandering to those that came before.. And the Indian is NOT native to this land..and they were not the "live with nature loving peaceful tribes" that people say they were. I am tired of their innocent peaceful nature loving portrayal . It´s all lies. The Indian tribes fought amongst themselves. And They were brutal.
Maybe they shouldn´t be honored by a baseball team.

She relates the story of how she experienced such racism at a venue where she and others tried to make their point to a crowd. Well they were derided and the crowd threw beer cups at them. Honey, that´s not racism. It´s a natural response to antagonism, and that response will include anything to antagonize back. If a group of short people went into a crowd of regular size people to agitate for smaller doorways or shorter risers in public stairways the crowd would break out into Randy Newmans´ song about Short People and throw beer cups at them. We have nothing against short people, Indians, Blacks or gays. We just don´t like being told no matter what, we are wrong about something and must change to make special accommodations to what seems like a world full of the perpetually aggrieved.

Thad Cochran’s political resurrection began with a campaign shakeup and ended with a Hail Mary television ad. Just three weeks ago, in the dead of night on June 3, the Mississippi senator’s staff sat shaken and dejected, crestfallen at the results of a primary that deprived the six-term incumbent of an electoral majority. With Cochran forced into a runoff fight against an aggressive and energetic challenger, a dark mood shadowed his backers in Washington and Mississippi.Yet almost immediately, the Cochran coalition began bouncing back. Even on that gloomy night of June 3, Cochran adviser Stuart Stevens was insisting to staffers: “We’re

They may teach business classes at Brooklyn College, but the school’s liberal leaders have told two of the country’s top businessmen to take their money and shove it because they don’t like their conservative politics, a veteran faculty member charges. There are plenty of circumstances in which that pithy imperative —variously attributed to Disraeli, Queen VIctoria, and sundry other worthies — wins my admiration. “Never apologize, never explain”: I like the blunt, no-nonsense aroma it exudes, the hinted-at announcement that there will be no wallowing in unproductive self-recriminations or manufactured displays of contrition. There is a reason, I think, that the motto seems traceable to Victorian times: an era when manly forthrightness still had a prominent place in the economy of public life. But context is everything. It is one thing to say “Never apologize, never explain” as an adjunct
