Businesses launch legal challenge
to Seattle´s $15 minimum wage

Fox News, by Dan Springer

Many Seattle workers are about to see their income go way up, after the City Council unanimously passed a $15 minimum wage earlier this month. But faster than you can get a happy meal at McDonald´s, the ordinance is facing a legal challenge. “I guarantee not everyone will survive,” warned David Jones, who owns a Subway franchise in Seattle. “This discriminatory law will affect some franchisees and they will go out of business.” The International Franchise Association, representing those concerns, has sued over the wage hike, specifically objecting to the fact the ordinance treats franchises as big businesses and requires them to pay

Government should not be telling merchants what to pay their employees. I´m happy that this group is taking Seattle to court. Wish you all the best.

"Newly elected socialist council member Kshama Sawant argued at one public hearing that, “In order to be a franchisee, you have to be very, very wealthy.”

Sounds like, in order to be a socialist, you have to be very, very ignorant.

Franchisers protest they are small businesses and should not have to pay. They say take big business, them not me. Customers will shop for the lowest price, which apparently will not be Seattle.

Seems these franchise owners are less opposed to the law than having to pay like the big boys.

In recent history, Gov´t always has and always will. That will not change.

It´s simply a vote getter ploy that has ZERO consequences for the politician.

And regardless of the amount of min wage, people will always struggle to make ends meet financially.

Well here we are Seattle Bureaucrats and misguided politicians. We will fight this and let all our customers know the higher prices for legal fees are on you. Next, if YOU happen to win using your crooked bought and paid for judges, we will simply close up shop and leave.

It´s your move, and remeber you are already checkmated!

It’s great to have Uncle Sam looking out for the little guy, isn’t it? That’s why it was such a super-duper, nifty idea for Washington to summon into being the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It was created as part of the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act back in 2010, but was originally the brainstorm of now Senator Elizabeth Warren. (You may recall she was initially slated to head the agency, but that was derailed by Congress.) So now that they are on the job, keeping citizens safe from big banking fat cats and ensuring financial responsibility and

All of the 470 senior executives at the Department of Veterans Affairs received annual ratings over the last four years indicating that they were “fully successful” in their jobs or even better, according to data released at a congressional hearing on Friday, despite delays in processing disability compensation claims and problems with veterans’ access to the department’s sprawling health care system. None of the department’s senior executives received either of the two lowest of five possible job ratings, “minimally satisfactory” or “unsatisfactory,” in any of the past four fiscal years. The data also showed that in 2013, nearly 80 percent

The number of Americans on disability now exceeds the number of people in New York City. More than 5.4 million workers and their dependents have signed up to collect federal disability checks since President Obama took office. Disability beneficiarias soared past 11 million for the first time in US history. CNS News reported: The total number of disability beneficiaries in the United States topped 11 million for the first time last month, increasing from 10,996,447 in April to a record 11,004,507 in May, according to new data released by the Social Security Administration.

Boston philanthropist and power broker Jack Connors recalls being a bit puzzled by the call he got from his state’s senior senator in May 2008. He did not consider himself part of Edward M. Kennedy’s inner circle, so when Kennedy started enthusing about his plans for a grand tribute to the U.S. Senate to be built next to his brother’s presidential library, Connors thought: “I wonder why he’s telling me all of this?” It turned out Kennedy wanted Connors to head up a massive fundraising operation to bring the project into existence. “Senator, I have absolutely no idea how to raise $90 million

Johann Breyer, who immigrated to the U.S. in 1952, was arrested Tuesday at his home. He is believed to have joined the Waffen SS at age 17 and assisted in the killing of Jews at the Auschwitz and Buchenwald Nazi concentration camps, Reuters reported Friday. Germany has issued a warrant for his arrest, U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy Rice said at Breyer’s court appearance in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, Business Insider reported Friday. Former President George W. Bush left the White House more than five years ago and has since stayed out of most Washington debates. But it would be hard to tell that if you have been listening to Hillary Clinton over the past month. From defending her record at the State Department to defining her economic vision, Clinton has used Bush as her primary rhetorical device to both explain her vision for the future and defend her past. "The biggest accomplishment in the four years as secretary of state was helping to restore American leadership and we did that in a number of

WASHINGTON -- As Iraq edges toward chaos, Joe Biden is having a quiet I-told-you-so moment. In 2006, Biden was a senator from Delaware gearing up for a presidential campaign when he proposed that Iraq be divided into three semi-independent regions for Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds. Follow his plan, he said, and U.S. troops could be out by early 2008. Ignore it, he warned, and Iraq would devolve into sectarian conflict that could destabilize the whole region. The Bush administration chose to ignore Biden. Now, eight years later, the vice president´s doom-and-gloom prediction seems more than a little prescient. Old sectarian tensions have erupted

Call it the president’s Kumbaya moment. It came Thursday, when President Obama announced this: “Above all, Iraqi leaders must rise above their differences and come together around a political plan for Iraq’s future.” Ironically, it’s the same mistake George W. Bush made early on in Iraq: the idea that a political process is the path to security. We learned the hard way — and it took a surge to do it — that it’s the other way around: Security makes politics possible. Right now, an al Qaeda offshoot called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is converging on Baghdad from the north,

Washington -- How big of a threat is ISIS really? The White House wants to find out and is deploying as many as 300 military advisers to Iraq to assess the might of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. The jihad group´s rash battlefield successes make them look extremely fierce. They have surged over from northern Syria to blitz major cities in Iraq´s Sunni region, taking Tal Afar and Mosul then moving quickly south. Hundreds of thousands of civilians fled from their path, creating a new refugee crisis. They have advanced on Baquba, just north of Baghdad and are

I have been listening all week to TV pundits lamenting that Lois Lerner’s hard drive has been destroyed, and therefore her e-mails are lost. This is simply not the case. It has become a daily frightening occurrence, hearing politicians, commentators, pundits, and stunned Americans say, “That´s outrageous!” “He can´t do that!” “No way!” “It´s against federal law!” “They have no legal authority to force us to do that!” These comments are in response to the daily unprecedented out-of-control tyranny handed down by Obama and his operatives. The Obama administration’s claim to have been surprised by the wave of children flooding over out borders may turn out to be another political lie of the year. Sundance of Conservative Treehouse noticed a very peculiar advertisement: On January 29th of this year, the federal government posted an advertisement seeking bids for a vendor contract to handle “Unaccompanied Alien Children“. Not just any contract mind you, but a very specific contract – for a very specific number of unaccompanied minors: 65,000. • Why would DHS and ICE be claiming “surprise” by the current influx of unaccompanied minors on the border
