‘Shut Up and Stand Back’:
GOP Rep. Rips WH for Going

Mediaite, by Josh Feldman

There have been reports in past weeks that the White House believes all the attacks on Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, even from his fellow platoon members, are just “swift boat” attacks and politically motivated. Well, during a hearing on Bergdahl today, Republican Congressman Tom Cotton told the White House to put up or shut up with that accusation. Cotton said it’s “offensive and insulting’ to him, as an Army veterans, that the White House would justify the “no man left behind” principle because when soldiers made those promises to each other, “we didn’t promise that we would exchange five stone-cold Taliban killers

I hope they stay away from helicopters as a group. Wasn´t the tragic helicopter crash last year made up of men who were in on the Osama bin laden raid?

The old establishment crowd (both parties) who never served in the military most likely cringed with Cotton´s statement. Good for him.

We need many more who are not constrained by threats from Boehner and the like to continue speaking out about wrong actions by the administration.

President Obama has succeeded in abusing his power more than Richard Nixon thanks to the support and enabling of Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and his team who “roll over and acquiesce” to every White House whim, charged Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. “Harry Reid right now is Barack Obama’s most important protector. Harry Reid shuts down the Senate, prevents any meaningful oversight, which means Harry Reid is the president’s enabler,” said the outspoken conservative and Reid’s foe. “When the president ignores the law and ignores the Constitution, Harry Reid and Senate Democrats stand up and cheer and that is profoundly dangerous to

In unprecedented criticism of the White House, 38 journalism groups have assailed the president´s team for censoring media coverage, limiting access to top officials and overall “politically-driven suppression of the news.” In a letter to President Obama, the 38, led by the Society of Professional Journalists, said efforts by government officials to stifle or block coverage has grown for years and reached a high-point under his administration despite Obama´s 2008 campaign promise to provide transparency. Worse, they said: As access for reporters has been cut off, the administration has opened the door to lobbyists, special interests and “people with money.”

MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell grilled White House Domestic Policy Council Director Cecelia Muñoz over the Obama administration’s perceived lack of preparedness about the border crisis and the following poor optics, including a picture of President Barack Obama playing pool in Denver last night. Mitchell’s questions came after Representative Henry Cuellar (D-TX) has been criticizing Obama for not visiting the border during his swing through Texas this week, criticism he said he’s heard about from the White House. “With all due respect, the reality on the ground is that the administration did not stay ahead of this,” Mitchell said, after Munoz listed

Sen. John McCain ripped into the head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection for an apparent policy restricting lawmakers from taking photos and interacting with people at facilities housing illegal immigrant minors, demanding the rules be reversed "immediately." "I want it done today. You understand?" the visibly angry senator told CBP Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske at a Senate hearing on Wednesday, saying he "overstepped." The hearing of the Senate Homeland Security Committee was called to receive updates on the border crisis from key agency heads involved in handling the influx of illegal immigrant minors from Central America. What do you do when you’ve got some time to kill in an Israeli bomb shelter? Start a spirited sing along, of course. If you’re a guest in the Dan Hotel in Jerusalem, your song of choice is Oseh Shalom, (A Prayer for Peace): “He who makes peace in High Places, He will make peace for us and for all Israel and let us say, Amen.” Meanwhile, at the Ha’aretz peace conference (where right-wing Israeli politicians get punched by pacifist leftists), White House Mideast chief Phillip Gordon delineated a series of thinly-veiled threats, so thinly veiled, in fact, that he

GOP hopes of corralling Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) during the 2014 primary season are officially dead. The defiant Republican’s brutal criticism of Sen. Thad Cochran’s (R-Miss.) reelection campaign on Tuesday — and the involvement of a group he is technically a vice chairman of, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) — is just the latest example of the Tea Party hero refusing to play nice. That brazen approach has exacerbated already fragile relations with establishment Republicans, who believe the freshman senator is intentionally undercutting them for no reason other than furthering his own political career. Meanwhile, his conservative base is rejoicing that

The law would not allow for-profit corporations to seek exemptions from the Affordable Care Act’s mandate that their health plans cover contraception costs. GULF OF MEXICO — Whatever happened to the Obama administration’s guiding principle never to let a serious crisis go to waste? Ex-White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel pronounced this shockingly brazen political principle before a group of Wall Street executives in November 2008. He said this even before President Obama took office. It was after that historic election, a time when the president was riding high on a wave of good will and political euphoria that few American politicians have ever enjoyed. It was also a time when the president’s party controlled both chambers of Congress and could have approved

The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president. His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, “no mas.” Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept. Discrediting the price paid for America’s exceptionalism over our history, he’s given false hope and taxpayer’s change to millions of foreign nationals who want to sneak into our country illegally. WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

President Obama evidently has decided not to put a human face on the crisis unfolding at the U.S. southern border—not even his own. The White House said over and over again Monday that Obama will not travel to the border with Mexico despite flying to Texas this week to raise money for Democratic candidates there. It´s certainly in part a political decision, one meant to avoid taking ownership of a difficult issue on which the White House would prefer to share blame. (Snip) In other words, if Obama goes goes to the border, he owns the problem. If he doesn't, he's blasted for a lack of leadership.
