In Washington, growing chorus calls for
Iraq´s Maliki to go

Reuters, by Patricia Zengerle

President Barack Obama came under pressure from U.S. lawmakers on Wednesday to persuade Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to step down over what they see as failed leadership in the face of an insurgency threatening his country. As Obama held an hour-long meeting with congressional leaders on U.S. options in Iraq, administration officials joined a chorus of criticism of Maliki, faulting him for failing to heal sectarian rifts that militants have exploited. Army General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the U.S. military´s Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a congressional hearing that Maliki´s Shi´ite-led government had asked for U.S. air power

Obama has forfeited America´s ability to influence Maliki´s behavior by repeatedly signaling that America´s involvement would end as soon as possible regardless of the situation on the ground in Iraq. As a consequence, there is currently a possibility that portions of Iraq could degenerate into a safe haven for terrorist training as Afghanistan once was.

Back during the Kennedy era he would have sent in the CIA who would have done their thing, and in short order a new leader willing to do what is right would have appeared and a status of forces agreement would have been signed. You have to be tough when dealing with primitive people, and it does not show toughness to let a potentate essentially kick the US military out of a country after they sustained 4,400 casualties.

And who is ´Washington´ to call for anyone to go? If anyone should go, it should be Obama. FTA: Obama briefed the lawmakers on efforts to get Iraqi leaders to "set aside sectarian agendas,"..This coming from a man who has made ´sectarian agendas´ his mantra. He has divided America along racial, ethnic, religious, and political boundaries so deeply, that nothing short of a civil war is going to resolve it. Now he has the cojones to demand another elected leader stop doing what he´s guilty of?

Maliki hasn´t done anything Obama isn´t guilty of himself. Cozying up to Iran? Isn´t that what Obama did by mortgaging our security so his Mullah friends can get a nuke? Attacking political foes? Gee, just call yourself a straight, white, Republican and see what happens to you in America today.

My point is, don´t buy anything our elected politicians and elite media are selling us. With very few exceptions, none of them can be trusted with anything.

Oh , I get it- the solution to this problem would be to have one failed leader ask another failed leader to step down. Who knew it could be this simple?

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., repeatedly put the blame for the Veterans Affairs scandal on former President George W. Bush, while arguing that her party has worked hard for veterans in recent years. Pelosi took a shot at Bush while saying that the scandal is a high priority for Obama. "He sees the ramifications of some seeds that were sown a long time ago, when you have two wars over a long period of time and many, many more, millions more veterans," she told reporters during her Thursday press briefing. "And so, I know that he is upset about it."

Top Republican officials on Sunday defended raising questions about Hillary Clinton’s health and age as she weighs a presidential bid in 2016. “Health and age is fair game,” said Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “I’m not a doctor. What I do know is that the issue is going to come up as it does for any person running for president.” Added former Vice President Dick Cheney, who appeared on Fox: “Any presidential candidate or vice presidential candidate is going to have to answer questions about their health.” The comments come after longtime GOP political operative Karl Rove,

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
