Straight shooting from Rick
Perry, Southern Baptists

Washington Times, by Editorial

Gov. Rick Perry of Texas caused a rustle and a stir in a San Francisco audience the other day when he answered a question about whether he thinks homosexuality is a genetic disorder. His answer wasn’t particularly out of the ordinary, or even remarkable in the places where most of us live, but he created an opportunity for the not-so-gay lobby to feign outrage. “Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not,” Mr. Perry told the Commonwealth Club of California, “you have the ability to decide not to do that. I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that,

The Guv is exactly right. The idea that because somebody is born with a predilection towards something most consider abnormal doesn´t entitle them to exercise that tendency. If homosexual activity must be accepted because some are born that way, then are we also to accept exhibitionism, rape or pedophilia because some individuals are somehow born with such proclivities? Life does not come with guarantees of social or sexual fulfillment, nor should it.

That having been said, I don´t really care what consenting individuals do in the privacy of their own homes - it´s not my business. This is tolerance, which everybody deserves. When groups demand universal acceptance, however, then they begin make it my business, because now they´re denying tolerance to others.

Normal people feel compelled to have sex. Frequently. We invented marriage to make it socially acceptable, but almost everyone either does it or wants to. The question is who we want to have it with.
I doubt many people are going to be celibate simply because a bunch of church busy bodies dont approve.

Sorry Chum, but marriage was "invented" to create/promote family stability. The family is the basis for all societies. Without stable families, there is no civilization.

On a related note, it had been said the Colt "Peacemaker" tamed the west. That would be an incorrect statement. The Christian woman tamed the west.

Well, this is awesome. Scientists have been keeping an eye on an unusual star called V838 Monocerotis since 2002, when it had an explosion that made it, for a few weeks, 600,000 times brighter than our sun. Ever since then, light from that outburst has been rippling across the universe and illuminating space dust in what the European Space Agency calls "the most spectacular ´light echo´ in the history of astronomy." The echo alone, according to NASA, spans six light years of outer space. And, now, thanks to a time-lapse look from Hubble photos of the light echo, you can watch the

Guys, I think he means it. With no clear frontrunner or obvious "next-in-line" candidate in the field of potential 2016 GOP presidential contenders, Mitt Romney keeps getting asked if he´s thinking about throwing his hat in the ring one more time. But it´s not entirely a far-fetched question. A poll of New Hampshire Republicans and independents who lean that way found that Romney would be the 2016 frontrunner if he decided to run. The 2012 GOP nominee has done little to stay out of the limelight, especially this year, as he gets involved in numerous races — including GOP primaries — and keeps up

Ronnie Osburn was preparing to talk to National Review Online Thursday about lawlessness in his border community when his home was broken into. Osburn, a rancher who lives just south of a Border Patrol checkpoint in Brooks County, Texas, says he stepped away for about 45 minutes, and when he returned somebody had trashed his house. The trespassers shattered his gun case, leaving a trail of blood throughout the house, but dropped the guns near the kitchen before scattering out the back door. They had searched through the house, opened drawers, and even left a heap of uncooked bacon in a

When IRS Commissioner John Koskinen arrogantly told Congress that he had no apologies for an agency that has targeted conservative groups for special scrutiny, had a top-ranking bureaucrat take the Fifth Amendment, and destroyed its own correspondence, he meant it. Nor did Lisa Jackson, the former head of the EPA, offer any apologies for concocting a fake persona, replete with false e-mail identity (“Richard Windsor”), to hide her own communications. Kathleen Sebelius was likewise unapologetic after presiding over the ruined initial implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Nor did she pay any consequence for campaigning for Democratic candidates while a

President Barack Obama is blocking several simple actions that would quickly stop the rising flood of migrant youths and adults crossing the Texas border, according to border officials and immigration reformers. If officials wanted to block the “Dream Deluge” of Central Americans youths, for example, “they would stop releasing them to family members [in the U.S., and] make sure they’re in long-term detention until they could either verify an asylum claim or a claim for persecution,” said Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council. Pundits are pointing to President Barack Obama´s recent decline in public opinion polls, and saying that he may now become another "lame duck" president, unable to accomplish much during his final term in office. That has happened to other presidents. But it is extremely unlikely to happen to this president. There are reasons why other presidents have become impotent during their last years in office. But those reasons do not apply to Barack Obama. The Constitution of the United States does not give presidents the power to carry out major policy changes without the cooperation of other branches of government. Once the

Obama will take Iraq´s word for now that U.S. soldiers won´t be prosecuted by the country´s courts as they defend Baghdad. President Obama pulled U.S. forces out of Iraq in 2011 because he couldn’t get Iraq’s parliament to offer U.S. soldiers immunity from Iraqi prosecution. But now Obama is promising to send in hundreds of special operations forces based on a written promise that these soldiers will not be tried in Iraq’s famously compromised courts for actions they are taking in defense of Baghdad. The U.S. military and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel have opposed sending any special operations teams

Back in 2000, David Brooks published a charming little book called “Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There.” Bobos was short for “bourgeois bohemians,” representing a combination of bohemian values and bourgeois levels of affluence. In the book, Brooks deftly deployed his trademark comic sociology to dissect these new meritocrats, with their graduate degrees and six-figure salaries and conflicted feelings about those six-figure salaries. Conscious or not — and I would argue in most cases that it is quite conscious — what we’re seeing is a comprehensive application of the left’s long-championed Cloward-Piven strategy. What a grand day for the Democratic Party Monday turned out to be. Their soon-to-be supreme empress, Hillary Rodham Clinton, began the day with a print interview given to the Guardian that Ed talked about, where she tried to say no, really, we’re not rich, trust us. There are times that I have senior moments and forget certain names and events but after the recent Obama Iraq war implosion, I´m convinced most political pundits are suffering from them as well. What is unusual is that this revision of history is being committed by conservatives who should know better. Recent commentary by Glenn Beck, George Will and Charles Krauthammer indicate that they have significant memory lapses about why we went to war in Iraq. They now suggest that it was a wrong decision whereas my complaint is that we took too long to invade and oust Saddam Hussein.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) cancelled its longtime relationship with an email-storage contractor just weeks after ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s computer crashed and shortly before other IRS officials’ computers allegedly crashed. As the president moves toward the land of the lame ducks, his political enemies are calling for blood. That’s no shocker at this stage of a presidency. In this case, the cuts go deeper. For some, it is not enough to disagree. Some high-status public figures seem determined to demean, denigrate and ridicule the president of the United States. Noted management expert and Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen was apparently called out of retirement — like the Ted Williams of evasive, unapologetic bureaucrats — to destroy what is left of his agency’s credibility. At immediate issue is two years of subpoenaed e-mails from former IRS official Lois Lerner to outside agencies, lost in a convenient computer crash. The possible involvement of other agencies is one focus of a congressional investigation into the heightened IRS scrutiny of conservative nonprofit groups before the 2012 election. In recent congressional testimony, Koskinen admitted that the e-mails

US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Iraq´s capital, Baghdad as Sunni insurgents expand their control of towns across north-western Iraq. In Egypt on Sunday, Mr Kerry warned that Sunni militants Isis´ "ideology of violence and repression is a threat not only to Iraq but to the entire region". On Sunday rebels--spearheaded by Isis militants--captured border crossings to Syria and Jordan. The strategically important airport in the northern Tal Afar has also fallen. The town controls the main road from the Syrian border to Mosul, Iraq´s second biggest city, which was captured by the rebels two weeks ago.
