11 Million On Disability: Why
Are Rolls Rising So Fast?

Investor´s Business Daily, by John Merline

The total number of Americans now on the Social Security Disability Insurance program topped 11 million in May, a record high and an increase of 18% since January 2009, according to new data from the Social Security administration, furthering a trend that will have severe economic and budget consequences. More than 5.2 million workers have enrolled in the program since President Obama took office, and enrollment is climbing faster under Obama than at any time in the program´s history. An average 81,000 workers joined the Social Security Disability Program each month during Obama´s years. Under President Bush, by contrast, monthly enrollment

That is the stupid question of the day. "Why Are Rolls Rising so Fast?" ITS AN ENTITLEMENT! Under barry all entitlements are booming. Its the barryphone generation.

How better to destroy USA then to make SLAVES out of the lazy and those who give-up so easily? And they ARE SO WILLING to do it. This is the new slavery or rather "enslavement" of Americans and USA. And we have to thank all who were and ARE willing to hand everything, including their lives over to this Nazi Regime and Takeover of USA. These so-called Americans have given in to the establishment to stay home and collect their slave wages.

#1 is correct about the answer to the self-answering question posed in the headline:

Freebies. Use your Bean.

When the 47% figure that Mitt Romney was flogged for in 2012 rises above 50%, only a total economic collapse that also takes down the federal government will end the gravy train that both parties, especially the Democrats, have so short-sightedly put into motion. Only a coast to coast military disaster on American soil would be worse.

Since all our manual labor jobs have been sent overseas and what few are left are reserved for illegals, I´d say government disability is about the best check available for too many Americans. That, or go into the military and risk your life for ValJar and 0bama´s wars which I would never suggest to someone I cared about.

There was a bump in disability claims right after welfare reform was passed in the 90s.

Politicized doctors certified that women who had been on welfare were too ill to find jobs. I had a neighbor who was one of these women. BTW, she wasn´t a minority. She was well enough to tend goats, chickens, a large garden and climb a mountain to go hunting with her latest man. But work? Never.

I know of several people that get disability checks and work several jobs, but only cash type jobs, off the records. I tried to hire one, but when I wanted the person´s SS number for taxes, they said they couldn´t do that job, "I´ll lose my disability." They appear to be in no way disabled, and can and do carry out normal job functions.
Another dishonest scam run by the government.
Based on my observations, a huge percentage are not disable in any legitimate sense.

I have known at least eight full time workers who are either receiving disability themselves or their wife/husband is. My daughter-in-law receives 2,800 a month for disability...why? She is so fat she can not fit through a regular door. The woman claimed back injury and after only two Dr. visits, was granted full disability! For life! She was 28 when she cashed her first DA check! Another one was slightly injured on his sheet metal worker job. He had two months of "rehab" and complained of "undiagnosed pain in his back". He was 30 yrs old. A year later, he was operating his own air conditioning company. I turned him in to the State. But, it did no good. They never even sent someone to review his claim. To this day he is owner of a rich AC business and brags that he still get´s his DA that made it all possible!

Because, John, when 2 years of unemployment checks run out, that´s the next step to more taxpayer cash. Doctors will swear you are too depressed because you can´t find a job, and, voila - you file for disability...and the Obama administration will approve a lifetime of parasitic handouts.

Why work when you can stay home and watch tv all day? That´s the Obama way - another fundamental transformation...

Meanwhile, those in true need of disability assistance will be denied because there´s no Democrat political benefit to that.

If the wimpy Republicans cave and give the liberal Democrats the cover they need to pass their massive amnesty bill for up to 20 million aliens, illegally here now, along with the millions of their foreign relatives who will then get to come, it won´t be long before about half of them get on social security disability. Remember kids can quality based upon all sorts of claimed emotional, and mental disorders besides physical illnesses and injuries. Once they start receiving a monthly check from Uncle Sam they will never quit the social welfare program, and the Republican dream of unlimited cheap foreign labor will evaporate.

Yes, it´s a national disgrace that so many have no shame in lying, cheating, manipulating in order to get that government check. Every state is full of these folks. My postman said his profession has the highest numbers of workers claiming disability. My sister retired from law enforcement. She never "used" her genetic predisposition to certain health challenges to claim disability. #12, sorry, I know it hits hard when you see it in your own family. $2800 a month? Whoa, not bad, eh?

have seen both sides of this. Dear Wife is disabled, blind for most purposes, slowly dying of degeneration of autoimmune diseases. Finally got her first check about two months ago after having been held up for three years or more. Often can´t get out of bed without assistance. Had worked since she was 16, nearly 40 years. And, finally, we get some help paying for the 18 pills she takes every day to live a little longer.
So not all claims are bogus.
On the other hand, we also saw persons deliberately contracting HIV, because in that state, an HIV+ diagnosis puts you on Disability, gets you Section 8 housing, Food Stamps (EBT if you prefer), transportation assistance, an Obama phone, and many other things. I´ve seen some of these "disabled" wheel into WalMart in a new Escalade, ooze out of the seat onto a power scooter, and careen through the store. With a "derriere" large enough for its own ZIP code, and claim a bad back, diabetes, and shortness of breath. We know quite well of other cases where the (single) mom discourages kids from doing any school work nor learning anything whatever, in order to qualify for Disability as "Learning Disabled".

Health Reform: Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman says critics of ObamaCare should cease and desist, because the law is "working." Given his track record on health care analysis, we´ll politely ignore this advice. In 2011, the same Krugman declared the Veterans Health Administration was "a huge policy success story, which offers important lessons for future health reform" because, among other things, "it´s free from the perverse incentives created when doctors and hospitals profit from expensive tests and procedures." It turns out the VHA is more akin to a cesspool of bloated bureaucracy, mismanagement, deadly delays and cover-ups. A couple years earlier, Krugman was

Leadership: All year long, President Obama has bragged that if Congress didn´t act on his legislative agenda, he´d do so on his own. But when it comes to the border crisis, he says his hands are tied. Back in January, Obama labeled 2014 a "year of action." He said, "I´ve got a pen and I´ve got a phone" and promised to use them to "take executive actions and administrative actions" if Congress failed to get things done. The White House even issued a "year of action" report this week, which includes "40 actions" Obama has taken (not counting the dozens of unilateral

Buried in a largely overlooked government audit of the Obama-Care exchanges is a finding that casts still more doubt on the reliability of the 8 million enrollment number commonly cited by the administration and the press. In a section titled "Other Issues," an inspector general report released last week found that the HealthCare.gov marketplace couldn´t show it had been reconciling its monthly enrollment numbers with insurance companies. That´s despite the fact that the law specifically calls for this reconciliation, and the fact that, as the IG report notes, "the federal marketplace obtained the services of a contractor to reconcile enrollment

Bias: You´d think that a government audit showing how ObamaCare couldn´t tell whether millions of enrollees were eligible for the subsidies they´re getting would be front-page news. Instead, the press hid it from view. If you wanted to read in the New York Times about these findings — which detailed rampant problems verifying eligibility and income information from millions of ObamaCare applicants — you had to dig 17 pages into the news section. In the Washington Post, the story was on page 11, after stop-the-press-stories like a change in House travel reporting rules and a puff piece on the new VA administrator.

Accountability: Two new audits reveal failures in ObamaCare on a scale even we didn´t think possible, with unresolved discrepancies, rules violations and technology problems that expose taxpayers to massive overpayments. In the first of a series of ObamaCare audits, the Health and Human Services inspector general found 2.9 million "inconsistencies" in applications submitted to the federal HealthCare.gov exchange in the first five months of open enrollment. In other words, the Social Security numbers, income, family size, citizenship or other information applicants provided didn´t match existing government data. Enrollment: ObamaCare loyalists are trumpeting a new Kaiser Family Foundation survey finding that more than half of those who enrolled had been uninsured. But the survey´s findings are nothing to cheer about. First, nobody knows exactly how many ObamaCare enrollees were previously uninsured, because the administration didn´t bother to ask for that information when people signed up. So it´s been up to pollsters to figure out what happened, and previous surveys showed that only a small percentage of ObamaCare sign-ups came from the ranks of the uninsured.
