Obama announces 275 US troops WILL
be sent to Iraq to protect American embassy
in Baghdad days after saying they would not return

Daily Mail [UK], by David Martosko and James Nye*

President Obama announced on Monday evening that US ground troops ´equipped for combat´ are being sent to Iraq – just days after claiming that no American soldiers would be deployed to the war-torn country. In a letter to Congress, the president said American troops will be returning to Iraq only three years after they left and their deployment began on Sunday. Obama said that their only purpose will be to protect U.S. personnel and the embassy in Baghdad – and not to join in the fierce fighting raging outside the Iraqi capital. The president did tell Congress, however, that American

The Associated Press was also involved in this article but not enough space to include it in the "Author" field.

I guess the ad nauseam lies of "say one thing one day, reverse your stance the next", still is operative. How many restrictions will our ground troops have placed on them now that they are on the ground? You can´t shoot unless you ask them what their intentions are first? Prepare for a bloodbath. Let´s hope it´s the bad guys´ blood, not ours.

Don´t like the sound of this. Less than 300 troops? Why send any at all? I´m afraid they may be sitting ducks. Hope I´m wrong. Enough blood has been spent there already.

Obama´s action is a political hammer to wield against Repubs, especially Trey Gowdy and his Benghazi investigation. The tiny force is not meant to help the Iraqis stand up to ISIS. Rather, the force allows Obama to:
A. Claim that he would never abandon our embassy personnel even though he did just that in Benghazi.
B. Criticize GOP if they question his move. "My Repub opponents don´t care about our embassy personnel.
C. To ignore Trey Gowdy´s request for emails and memos on Benghazi. "I´m not gonna take my eyes off of Iraq to search files for what happened years ago."
D. To claim that Iran can be trusted even though its mullahs refuse access to their nuke program. "They´re helping us stop ISIS, so why can´t they be trusted about the nuclear treaty."

Are the troops going to be allowed to actually have bullets in their guns this time?

The only reason we should be sending anyone into Iraq is to aid in the evacuation of the embassy. The troops should be on the same planes as the embassy personnel when they fly home.

We should sacrifice not one more American life for the Muslim troglodytes.

275? 275?

A thousand maybe, but 275? What the hell are 275 U.S. troops supposed to do--even if they are Special Forces-- against the thousands of Muslim Jihadis reportedly heading towards Baghdad and our Embassy there?

What, pray tell, are our troops going to be "equipped for combat" with--side arms, the occasional rifle, knives, and non-lethal bean bags perhaps? And just what are their Rules of Engagement (ROE) going to be?

Obama spends U.S. soldier´s lives--the soldiers he so obviously despises--like water, with no real, but plenty of faked remorse. He really couldn´t care less, and he is using them for some kind of political stunt he will use to absolve himself of the responsibility for the "man-caused disaster" that he caused.

What is going to be the result then? Are we going to see, a la Vietnam, another helicopter sitting on our Embassy´s roof, as the last staffers stuggle to get on it? Are those left behind--for there are reports of hundreds of U.S. citizens gathering at the supposed safety of the Embassy compound--going to be today´s victims in a repeat of Carter´s disastrous Embassy hostage situation?

"Undecided" Anyone remember that old ditty?

´First you say you do, and then you don´t,
And then you say you will, and then you won´t; you´re undecided now, so what are you gonna do?´

The updated version: ´First you say you don´t, and then you do; and then you say you won´t and then you will´

Well, it loses its rhyme but you get my point. He´s still undecided now but we all know what he´s gonna do.

The brass had better be in a position to communicate with and support those 275 troops or the country might be looking at another lone survivor situation. If all the other countries are shutting down their embassies and leaving, why is this country sending a couple of companies of infantry to keep the US Embassy open?

Republicans in the House and Senate have voted thumbs down on President Obama´s request for $3.8 billion to deal with the crisis on our southern border. Most lawmakers think it´s too much money and not enough funds earmarked for border security. Washington Times: Even Texas Gov. I can remember several times when Obama just started to laugh in public at various disasters triggered by his policies. Happy laughter now seems to be the official White House reaction to domestic and international chaos and human suffering. You could call it leading with Obama’s big strength -- a great smile on TV -- while avoiding the worst of his weaknesses -- his inability to actually solve anything. About a year ago when painfully high black unemployment figures were mentioned, especially among young black men, Obama gave a happy smile in response. Then when “NATO” (i.e., the U.S.) started to bomb and overthrow the stabilizing regime

Where is the red line of impeachment? In theory, a red line might be located somewhere on a list of impeachable offenses – perhaps at the point where a certain number of transgressions is exceeded, or next to a specific instance because of its significance or impact. In reality, though, that red line exists along a spectrum of “political will.” As Andrew McCarthy explained: “You can have a thousand provable impeachable offenses, but before Congress may remove the president from power, there must be strong popular support – a public will that cuts across partisan and ideological lines.”
