Russian $8.2 Trillion Oil Trove
Locked Without U.S. Tech: Energy

Bloomberg News, by David Wethe

Original Article

Posted By:EagleEye, 6/17/2014 12:11:29 AM

Even as the decision to stop gas supplies to Ukraine aggravates tensions with the U.S. and Europe, Russia faces a dilemma: it still needs Exxon Mobil Corp., Halliburton Co. and BP Plc to maintain output from Soviet-era oil fields and develop Arctic and shale reserves. Russia will require Western companies to provide the modern drilling and production gear -- and techniques such as hydraulic fracturing -- that are essential to unlocking its $8.2 trillion worth of barrels still underground. The cutoff to Ukraine’s gas supply adds another layer of complexity for energy companies navigating a shifting geopolitical landscape in the search

Comments:
Do you know when someone is truly brain dead and just a puppethead? Let them use Halliburton (Cheney) to still attack the right. Notice it´s importance here, even to the Russians? Now that Putin is "mano a mano" with 0bama over the Ukraine, let´s see what our State Department does? (it´ll favor the Russians).

Obama will act patriotically by forcing fracking technologists to leave America and go to Russia. Other patriotic things on his to-do list is to completely disassemble the southern border and get the gift wrap on Iraq in time for the muzzie takeover. And a thank-you card to the Iranians for all their kind help.

Fracking has been in use for 34 years that I know of (West Texas, Midland). It´s not hard to figure out. Those wildcatters were wily and smart, but the technology becomes widespread. Seriously, it´s a rather simple procedure.

Wow, $8.2 trillion sounds like a lot, until you realize its about what Barry has increased our debt in the last 6 years. Our government spends $8 trillion in 2 years. One of the most valuable resources that the world depends on for almost all economic prosperity is a mere pittance compared to what we squander by our government.

This concern about the oil giants seems overstated: So far there are no sanctions and no enthusiam for them. And wasn´t the Ukraine gas cut off today.

I have no doubt Russia will manage to buy the technology whether it is under some embargo or producing diplomatic frowns or not.

Other nations are not technological idiots.

Sanctions would slow Russia down but they would hurt us too.

A modest proposal.
Make the government of Ukraine the sole dealer of American equipment, regarding sales to Russia.
Ukraine buy from the U.S., and Russia must buy from Ukraine.
If Russia attempts to threaten to cut Ukraine’s oil supply, Ukraine can cut the supply of American oil equipment.
Wouldn’t make any friends in the Kremlin, but who needs such friends, anyway?

Russia will work with China to drill and frack. Working together, through other countries, industrial espionage, patent infringement, bribery, or their own technical capabilities they will succeed. It is naive to think we have a lock on technology. Our advantage is bringing the technology to the field. Much of our drilling is done in relatively accessible locations and we have access to an existing global equipment manufacturing infrastructure so were ahead of the game for now. However we have been forced to share technology and outsource manufacturing to remain competitive. Russia’s and China’s industries are not constrained by debilitating liberal democratic politics or international legal issues but move forward with the national will. Not only will Russia succeed in getting its gas and oil, it will get it to market and the rest of the world will be grateful for a reliable supply as long as you pay promptly. Sounds very capitalist, doesn’t it.

Israel has been forced to cope with waves of terrorism of various types and intensities since its founding and to this day. These waves of terrorism are carried out by various terrorist organizations (Palestinian and Shi’ite) in various arenas (internal, along the borders, overseas) and using various methods (suicide attacks, explosive devices, kidnappings and negotiations, shootings and more). In the decade since the end of the second Intifada, and since the death of Yasser Arafat and his replacement by Abu Mazen, there has been a significant lull in the number of terrorist attacks on Israeli soil, the wave of suicide attacks has subsided

Since the fall of Mosul to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) organization, the media has been disseminating an apocalyptic portrayal of the situation. According to the reports, the organization will soon be conquering Baghdad and indeed all of Iraq. Likewise, there are assessments that also in Jordan, Kuwait and other Gulf nations, there is fear of suffering a similar fate from the powerful organization. Without underestimating the threat potential of the organization in light of its local achievements and murderous activities, it is worth understanding the wider context in which it has attained its achievements and strength.

Life is imitating art in Thailand — unfortunately for protesters, it’s the illegal three-fingered salute from the “Hunger Games” books and film series. After Thailand’s military council took power in a coup on May 22, it began cracking down on dissent in unique ways. It became illegal to read George Orwell’s “1984” in public or to wear shirts that say “Peace Please.” Now, the salute from “The Hunger Games” is off-limits, Business Insider reported Friday. Plainclothes cops are reportedly patrolling Bangkok for individuals who break such laws and then arrest them. “In many cases, their heads are covered with black plastic bags so they won’t

As Tea Party challengers grappled with the stunning news that Sen. As the militant group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, has seized vast territories in western and northern Iraq, there have been frequent accounts of fighters’ capturing groups of people and releasing the Sunnis while the Shiites are singled out for execution. ISIS believes that the Shiites are apostates and must die in order to forge a pure form of Islam. The two main branches of Islam diverge in their beliefs over which is the true inheritor of the mantle of the Prophet Muhammad. The Shiites believe that Islam was

Nasa had hoped to launch a test flight earlier this month, but was unable to do so because of poor weather conditions around its Kauai, Hawaii, where the trial was due to take place. The trial will initially entail using a helium balloon to lift the saucer to about 120,000 feet, after which a rocket will be used to take it up into the stratosphere at four times the speed of sound. Then the saucer’s decelerator and parachute will put through its paces. This will be done by freeing the saucer and firing

What transpired in the Mississippi Senate run-off is a red line for many conservatives across the country, because the Republican Party establishment essentially took a civil war and escalated it to a war for independence. It’s one thing to oppose your base in a primary. It’s entirely another to despicably play the race card against your base, and bolster the legitimacy of the propaganda of our race-baiting opponents on the Left. But that’s exactly what the Kamikaze pilots running the GOP did. As a result, Chris McDaniel won Republican voters handily on Tuesday, but still lost the run-off statewide thanks
